    Ok ladies (and lurking gents)...

Last night as part of my Reductions Megahaul I picked up some puff pastry which was a mere 15p. I've never done anything with pastry in my life....what can I use it for??!

I really like puff pastry just rolled out into a square, with a little score made round the edge so it rises a bit higher, & then spread with pesto & topped with sliced mozzarella & tomatoes & baked. V yummy with a salad (& homemade wedges or chips if i need a treat!!)

Not sure whethe today's an NSD or not. My husband is away (forces) at the moment, and asked me to send him some stuff. I had £5 in my purse as my 'free' money (I always keep a little bit of change in there for emergency bottle of water out with kids or if we just fancy a packet of sweets when out for example)

My heart is saying I have spent money, but I could hardly not spend the money if you know what I mean, it wasn't spent on a whim...
What would you guys class it as?

(I don't want the NSD police to come and get me.... :p )

This might be a bit late, but I find it helps me not to count essential (repair, postage etc..) spends as NSD's. If i don't i tend to think "blow it i've spent anyway, so i might as well buy a treat" & then i end up wasting money on rubbish as well as what i absolutely had to pay for.
That's why i always include my grocery spends too, as i'm a booger for buying tea rather than rooting through the freezer for something i already have & this alone has helped me reduce my grocery bills by over £100 per month :D
What BMF says is true though, you have to set the rules that work best for you...

Woohoo, managed not to crack, so today is NSD No.4 for me :) I did feel hard done by just before lunchtime for no reason at all and wanted to spend just for the sake of it, not eat my scrumptious packed lunch but go and buy something more 'exciting', but by golly I feel better now for having resisted the urge :money:

I used to feel like that but stick with it, now the biggest thrill i get is resisting opening my purse & making do with what i've got (& i'm sure my waistline loves me for it too!!)

To all the regulars, apologies in advance, as i'm sure you thought you had heard the last of this topic (so did i to be fair!!), but i'm just going to have a little rant.....

Had a phone call today re: rented house (for which incidentally the council has still not paid up any housing benefit :()
Apparently the high winds have ripped off the UPVC cladding affixed to the house for insulation purposes, which has taken with it half of the outer layer of the back wall :mad::mad:
Tenant in pieces over damage to the house, me in pieces over the £150 excess on the insurance payable to get it fixed!!!

Oh & that's not to mention the fact that she's been turned down for free loft insulation, as apparently it's full of asbestos :eek: even though it wasn't mentioned in the survey, or by all the various tradesmen that have been in that loft over the years!! There's another £100 gone for a report to (hopefully) prove that's is either a) not asbestos or b) safe to not remove, in order to quell her (somewhat understandable) hysterics
I'm not even thinking about what will happen if the report says it's dangerous & needs removing..... bankruptcy anyone????

Still on the bright side, at least it is number 3 today, every cloud has a silver lining & all that!!

Hi i am new to posting but can I can join? I been doin this on my own and up to 3 NSD's but then thought I should post which will encourage me more. I am terrible for going out in lunch breaks to buy lunch and rubbish. Once I work my way around I'll update my sig and things.
    Can I sign up for 18 NSD's?

Hi Sammy_Squirrel and welcome to the NSD thread commonly known as the madhouse.

It's much more fun counting NSDs with us lot than doing it on your own and we'll give you loads of motivation to avoid those rubbishy spends:D

LMH will be along later to add you to the every-growing list in the meantime make yourself at home.

PS: re your signature. Click on User CP at the top of the screen, you'll then get some options down the left hand side of the screen, one of these is "edit signature". Click on that and have fun:D:D

yep, i do like butdoineedit? and make a sort of puff pastry pizza, pesto or tomato puree on the base then any toppings you fancy. made on yesterday for the kiddies, red pepper, mushrooms, spring greens and goats cheese crumbled on top... was a hit :D

another alternative is to mix stuff into a very thick white or cheese sauce eg ham and mushroom, cheese and onion etc then load it onto half of the pastry, cover with the other half and pinch the edges to seal. Greggs pasty at a 10th of the price anyone ;):D

Arrgghhhh BDINI..... I don't know what to say:(. I'm so sorry, what a nightmare:(

When was the cladding fixed, is it under warranty/guarantee by any chance?

Fingers firmly crossed re the report - surely someone would have spotted it was asbestos if it actually is..

if it turns out not to be asbestos, is there someway you could perhaps bill the muppets who claimed there was inthe first place?

Just popped in to say I lost a pound at weigh in this morning - I am over the moon as the last two weeks have been really tough trying to stay on the straight and narrow. I have 3lb to go to goal so on track!

Had my hair done, walked the doglet and now I have an appointment with the sofa and the telly - see ya!th_Couch_potato.gif ( This looks worryingly like me!LOL!)

Woohoooo... well done jinty, that's fab:j:j:j:j:j:j

Hope you're pleased with your hairdo and had a lovely chill with the telly:D
