  • Yet another mad busy day for me today, but it does mean I haven't had time to spend so I'm declaring NSD #3. So sorry that I'm not on here properly to catch up with people, but work is really busy at the moment.

Had a spend today. Was raining quite hard when I finished work and instead of walking from the town centre, I got a cab!

NSD #3 for me today :T

I even went out to TRY and spend some money - but came back empty handed !! My chap was borrowing his 13-month old niece to take her on a lunch-date with a couple of (married) female colleagues (and the son of one and daughter of the other), and last night asked if I wanted him to bob over here afterwards so I could meet her.... which I jumped at the chance of.

But this morning I realised I didn't know where I'd put all the early stage toys I had in for my GDs, so nipped down to B+M to see what they had - and they didn't have a single item for a child under the age of 2 !!!

So I came home and went up into my loft, turning up a few bits varying from 18m+ to 3yr+ and decided all of them would be OK as long as we kept an eye on her.

He seemed really surprised that I'd got them out for her, but I've always found a young child (who's past the sleep, feed, change, cuddle, sleep stage) tends to settle better into a 'strange' environment if there are toys around - and it certainly worked on breaking the ice between us. I then played games over the coffee table (and peek-a-bo under/over it) with her which she loved, and she seemed to be settling in well. But the biggest hit was when I gave her a beaker containing a small amount of tea (I'd also turned up a spouted beaker I never used for my GDs, so gave it a thorough clean just in case it was needed - and it came in handy when she started eyeing up our drinks and I was told she loves tea). She even fell asleep on my lap for about a half hour before they left :) She's a wee little lass though - she was a prem baby, and the 'Disn3y by Ge0rge' outfit she had on today had heaps of growing room despite being a 6-9 months size !!!!

Her mother (his sister) apparently reckons I have a friend for life now I've given her a drink of tea :) And I got the impression that my chap was impressed at how I handled the afternoon, which is good 'cos she's very important to him (I think partly 'cos he doesn't have any kids of his own) ;)

    Evening all :D

I resisted all spending until I checked the Morrisons on the way to Fat Club and got LOADS of reductions. Tuna steak worth £6.60 for £1.64 was the highlight although I also got three packs of gammon steaks for 55p each instead of £2.29 :D:D

I've decided to change the way I'm doing this challenge. At the moment I count groceries spends as a spend day, but I'm spending cash already withdrawn as I'm using all cash for my food shopping just now to try and stop me going over budget. I can plan my own spends, but often have to buy bread/milk for Mr Fresian as I don't track what he's using (A loaf of bread lasts me a week but he goes through three a week! He also drinks milky tea intravenously....)

As of tomorrow, I'm going to count any day where I don't spend my money as a NSD. Direct debits/groceries are excluded. This is to stop me frittering on nonsense. I should therefore hit my 12 NSD target easily and then work on setting a new target! Some of you might feel like it's cheating, but I think it's going to work for me....no planned spends for the rest of this week apart from food on Saturday in my usual top-up shop at Aldi, and that should be under £15 anyway hopefully.

If you think I'm cheating too much then please tell me off :o

NSD #3 for me :T did not think this would be fun but it really is!

could do with some advice tho. i got some money for my birthday a bit ago and have not spent it yet. would you guys ckass this as a spend or not?
i know it's supposed to fit in with our own guidelines but i'm kinda on the fence with this one.

I would say that as long as you only spend the gift money & don't add anything to it, then it can be an NSD, after all it's not much of a gift if you can't get anything nice with it!!

Rising - i've got my fingers crossed, i'm sure you'll find the right dog for you soon & it will be meant to be....

Jinty - good on you, hope you managed to stick to your guns all day? Work will soon realise what they have lost & wish they had been nicer to you!!

Number 2 for me today please Spoon :j
No way was i going anywhere in this weather!!

Sounds like you had a lovely day Cheryl, little'uns are lovely at that age. Well done on making it an NSD too! :T:T

Flying, I don't think you are cheating at all...we all have different rules, choosing those which suit us best. If you are reducing your overall spending, then that's what's important, no matter how you get there!

Just popping in to confirm my second NSD of the week/month....hope to nab another two before the weekend.

I also find I'm trying to fit my spending into a couple of days a week...though it sometimes stretches to 3 or 4 on a bad week :( I have a new set of glasses to pick up at the opticians. Not going into town to collect them until Saturday, as we are speding that day already (DS1's BIG Uni food shop! :o).

So I can collect them then and get a few more things from town. They are paid for already and I only need them for close up sewing work, but I know I could well be tempted to spend if I go in, or I may have to pay for my parking. I know I could leave my purse behind, but as the shopping list is growing (but not yet urgent) things can wait a few days more. :D

Right, off to do a bit more Dr£amw£av£r work before bed...having fun learning how to use it properly, at long last!!!

Wishing you all an NSD (or LSD) tomorrow x

    #4 day for me.

Tomorrow will be a spend day as my children are all back at school so there will be dinner money to pay out and I have to go and get some apples and milk from the co-op.
Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.
