For anyone thinking of buying a Kindle - also keep an eye on Mr T (realise you can't use your Nectar points etc here). I got mine when they had a £10 off £75 spend which helped a bit and once my club*card vouchers were taken off too..... I ended up paying £63 for mine.:)
Well, best laid plans and all that ..... my NSD week has got off to a VERY bad start. Totally forgot I had the dentist today ..... 1 filling & a clean and the purse was £28 lighter. I always need the clean (my teeth are terrible and break all the time - told it's 'cos I've had Crohn's since an early age) and I hate it as my gums really hurt. Asked the dentist today if an electric toothbrush would help and was told "yes" - so as I'd already spent, I popped to B**ts and managed to get one 1/2 price. Hoping it'll make a difference and if I don't need them cleaned every time I go, it will pay for itself quickly.
Hey Rising - thanks for the tip re Tesco - I will go and check my clubcard pts, but I dont think I have that many tbh.
Nae luck with the gnashers - I didnt realise that Crohns had an effect on teeth until recently when I had to have 9 out. Due back at dentist next week to get fitted with new denture to replace the temp one. Dreading it after all the nightmare last summer ( I bored you all with the details at the time!)rising~I feel your pain re dentist & your teeth.
My teeth are dire

i have to agree with marmite rising, I have an electric toothbrush and do think it makes a difference. I also hate the dentist, well hygenist as my front teeth are really sensitive and I can't stand metal against my teeth (even the mere thought of cutlery on my teeth makes me feel squeemish) so the metal pick is like torture, and the water pick is a combination of my teeth being all on edge due to the cold, and me trying not to choke on the water accumulating while i am splayed out on the dentist chair
Well today was supposed to be a NSD, had dinner all planned, curry and rice...until OH declared he wanted chips... so i succombed to Mr S at lunchtime and collected a few other 'necessities' coming out £7 lighter
here's an odd one for you - I purchased some Huggies Newborn nappies with a view to selling them at the next car boot (seem to be getting a fair bit of baby stuff atm) they were £6 down to £2.99 and I had a £2 off coupon so cost me 99p. Has anyone else had any experience selling such things at car boots and do they sell ok?Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

No NSD for me today:mad:..
Just been spending little amounts on coffee, chocolates, magazines etc. Sounds weird but I kind of always treat myself to little things when I have done extra shifts (two long days over the wkd) as a reward to myself... How do I break this habit??:o
I am now sat at home feeling guilty as this money could have been paid towards my debt...:( tho I feel a little better having admitted it lol
There used to be a challenge on here that you decided on an item (toiletries, magazines, chocolate or whatever your downfall is) and don;t buy any for a pre-decided amount of time. Mine was magazines and the challenge really broke my habit - having to fee up on here was a great motivator. It's 2 or 3 years since I did the challenge and I rarely buy magazines now :money:- and when I do I always think of the challenge and think twice!
Not sure if the challenge still exists but you could a) start it up again or b) use this thread to state your intentions and we could encourage you.GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN

The teeth thing does annoy me though as I spend a fortune at the dentist - I used to feel that I must be doing a really terrible job of looking after them and it was only when I said that to my dentist and he said it was down to the Crohn's that I found out (now also confirmed by a specialist). Really p's me off there's no financial assistance for anything like this - I've currently got 4 teeth that are now so bad they need crowns but there is just no way that's going to happen @ around £300 - £400 each (and on the NHS:eek:). I did have one a couple of years ago (right at the front) but the rest have just had to be pulled out ..... especially frustrating as I know someone on benefits who's had 6 crowns in the last year and hasn't had to pay a penny:( (sorry guys & girls for the moan:o)
Maybe we should call it a "toothy" meeting when we all catch up!:)i have to agree with marmite rising, I have an electric toothbrush and do think it makes a difference. :)Thanks Kerry, sorry I'm chuckling/cringing at the same time as this has brought about memories of this afternoon.... I really struggle with the water too - what on earth are you supposed to do with it all!
Now debating whether my new elec toothbrush (which is charging - hopefully ready for the morning) should come out my Grocery budget (incl toiletries) rather than the "anything else" one ...... oh my, still struggling to get to grips with budgeting!:o
Think I'm heading to bed - might even nip up and put elec blanket on for 10 mins .... the house is freezing and just doesn't seem to have warmed up at all tonight. Brrrrrrrr - must remember to take some water with me tomorrow - my windscreen wash was frozen solid & I could hardly see by the time I got 1/2 way to work this morning.:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Thank you all for you messages of support!
Things have been unbelievably difficuly at work recently and today was just as hard. However, I am determined to make sure I put one foot in front of the other and slowly work my way through it and not let other people win and get me down. So hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
Spendy day for me today as I had to get shopping. Am at work till late tomorrow, so hopefully I can nab a NSD before my car goes in for its MOT.
Thanks again for the lovely messages.

Evening everyone. I am delighted with a surprise NSD today, so NSD #7
I have agreed to "milk share" with a colleague to save waste, so we'll take it week about to buy. And because I hadn't spent that, I resisted buying a coffee or anything, had my own lunch with me, then decided not to put fuel in the car as I can go tomorrow when I have other things I need to buy.
I am setting myself a mini challenge. I get paid on Wednesday, and have £40 in my wallet. I am going to see if I can make that last for a whole month as my total spend for lunches, coffees, treats etc. I'm sure that sounds like loads to some of you hardcore MSE experts, but I'm still adjusting to not trickle spending, so I think it might be tricky.0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37
