    Hello everyone!

Thanks LMH! :D And I caught NSD number 11 yesterday and I'm not doing anything tonight, so I'm going to declare today as NSD number 12! :j

We used to have the same problem with our car, until we fitted a battery isolator switch (see pic below). They're great, they cost about £5 on fleaBay, you attach them to the battery (or get the garage to do it when you next take the car in for an MOT/service etc), and when you're not using the car, turn the green knob anticlockwise (OFF) to disconnect the battery which stops the battery from draining, and which also a great theft deterrent because if someone should try to steal the car, they wont be able to start it!

Then, when you want to use the car again, just pop the bonnet open, turn the green knob clockwise (ON) to re-connect the battery, and you're up and running again!

Kerri - I got my friend to pick up for me as she lives down the road from a L!dl - so excited to be receiving these later - it's like Christmas has come again :rotfl:

Glad you got your Cushelle JCA - did everyone else get theirs? :D

Londongirl - I wasn't really online yesterday so congrats on your exam results :T
NSD #7 for me please! I was absolutely angelic today, I nearly had a change of heart this morning about walking when I saw the ice, but I stuck to my plan to keep my NSD, and found a (very frosty) tenner on my way :j
Not sure what to do with it now, I'm inclined to save it in case of emergency (things are a bit tight with January syndrome) and then when (when not if!) no emergency occurs to use it towards my Dotty P card which I'm paying off. Or should I just pay it now? Or spend it on treats?!

    Pink :)

Personally, with this being the DFW board and all that I would put it towards paying something off, it's an extra £10 payed sooner than you'd planned :A

Well, yesterday wasn't a NSD for me, picked up some (more) Comfort in Wilko, just the one bottle for 23p while I had a coupon and it's on offer. Also (suprisingly) picked up some Cushelle in L!dl and two pizzas for OH I'd seem recommended on here. Oh, and had my colin the caterpillars threaded back into some shape of eyebrow (boy they were getting bad )

Today however, I can declare NSD #5 :j It was nearly scuppered by the MnS Dine in for £10 (I have a £5 off £25 food coupon I wanted to use in conjunction with this) but tbh there wasn't anything that really took my fancy so it would have been more of a waste than a bargain. Tomorrow will be a spendy as I had a hair appt and will prob stop in town to get sarnie bits for next week. Getting there slowly but surely this month. :D

Didn't get my NSD. My cat is allergic to flea bites and we've had a flare up (clearly not hoovering enough :o ) so she had to go and get a steroid injection to ease the itch, poor soul. Anyway she's happier again now, and given that I had already spent money, I figured I better get the food shopping done as well. Menu written for the week, as well as a plan for lunches :T so hopefully that will help my NSD's next week.

Hope everyone is having a nice Friday night and has lovely (no spend!) weekends planned :)

Just popping in to declare NSD 9 for today please. Must spend tomorrow as we have visitors coming and I need to do lunches poss both Sat and Sunday. Soup is the order of the day, cheaper than a meat based lunch. (Parsnips, squash, and maybe apple) as I could have up to 10 folk here to feed. Must do some meringues as well - looks impressive but actually they are so simple to make.

No NSD to report as went shopping for all the "bits" required for the recipes I'm going to try out.

Did my Zumba class then into town to meet mt friend for lunch. It was great to see her, and I enjoyed the chat. ( How many calories does chatting use?:rotfl:)

She was waxing lyrical about the Kindle she got for Christmas - seems everyone I know got one from Santa. I was a bit sceptical about them I must admit, but now I'm warming to the idea! I know some of you guys have one so I'd like your opinion on them. Do you still use paper books as well? Or do you find you use nothing but the Kindle? Which one - the £89 one or the dearer one with bells & whistles? Do you use a cover?
I think I am goin to start a Kindle fund - I fancy one for taking on holiday but I would still value some advice!

Today I am off to Costco for some "bits" and I want to price new pots as ours are a bit sad and we also need new pillows. Oh how exciting!

Then I plan to put my feet up with my bookth_smiley_emoticons_buch.gif ( yes, a real one! LOL!)

    NSD #8 yesterday and 3 in a row :D:D

I have a Kindle and love mine - and it was free :D I paid for it by doing surveys with companies that reward you with Amazon vouchers and am still doing surveys to pay for my books! I mainly use my Kindle now, although I still have a wealth of paper books that I'm not willing to pay to replace!

I do have a cover for mine, but got it via KGB deals for a tenner rather than the £40 Amazon want you to pay! It doesn't have a light though and I do think that's pretty important. I bought a booklight for £2 in the M&S sale which slides in between the Kindle and the case and does the job fine.

    The advantages are:
    • It's so light! Much easier to read in bed than a hardback :)
    • Amazon does a Daily Deal for Kindle where you get a book for 99p and I've found some brilliant authors that way
    • It fits in your handbag for when you're out and about
    • You can store a ridiculous amount of books rather than cluttering up your increasingly cluttered flat (that's a personal advantage!!)
    • It's eliminated impulse-buys in the supermarket of cheap paperbacks as I check for interesting 99p books every day

I bought the one with the keyboard but no 3G. I can't see a situation where I'll be so desperate to read a new book that I would need mobile internet! If they had the keyboardless one at the time I would have bought that though.

If you want info on the survey sites I used, just PM me and I'll send you some links :D

    Good Morning,

Changed my plans yesterday and didn't get the gold dust for my car so I would like to declare NSD #12 and a miraculous 8 days in a row :j:j I have absolutley no idea how I managed it!!!!!

Will have to get the gold today and a birthday present, so I'll be picking up some bits and pieces of shopping while I'm out and about. Only need bread and milk really but I bet I see some bargain that I can't live without :o

    Have a great Saturday x x

I think I am goin to start a Kindle fund - I fancy one for taking on holiday but I would still value some advice!

I was a big sceptic ...... I like having a book in my hands etc and just didn't think it would be "me".

However I have to say I love mine :o - I've put some pros / cons down which hope help:

    Good
    • Fits into my handbag & not too heavy
    • Great for Dr / Hosp appts as it's always there! (and would be the same if I was stuck in traffic!)
    • Multiple books in one place - really useful if I'm nearly finished a book & have a hosp appt .... I'd have been toying with the idea of taking 2 but usually wouldn't as they're too heavy!
    • Will be fantastic for holidays for the same reason
    • Battery lasts for ages
    • Loads of free books to download - I've discovered "new" authors I'd never have tried if I'd had to pay for their books which is great as I am a book-worm:)
    • Also if I start a free book and don't like it, I don't feel like I need to read the whole thing (which I would do if I'd paid for it!)
    • Being able to change the text size is fantastic - I can take it to bed and make the text bigger to let me read without my glasses and give my eyes a break:)
    • Easier to read in bed than a "real" book - you're able to keep your hands/arms under the covers!
    • Marks the spot where you finish reading
    • You can create folders (bit like the different sections in a library) to store the books in
    • You can loan books to friends/relatives so if you make sure you buy different ones (if one that needs paying for), this keeps costs down
    • I still can't get over how quickly the books download! It's really easy & the Amazon site will let you know if you've already got a copy of the book
    • The free books change all the time so you need to check the site regularly - you may get a book free one week but it's got a fee the next (and vise versa)
    • You can email from it

Slight negatives (but can live with them!)
    • I do miss being able to see how far through the book I am - although it gives you a % as you've no visual idea of how much this is, I find this a bit difficult (esp if reading late at night & trying to judge if I can finish the book!)
    • I do sometimes still miss the "having the book in my hand" feeling
    • Can't read it in the bath ..... (some people may do but......)

Mine is the cheaper one without the visible keyboard - but it does still have a keyboard option that you can open to create folders. For me, it's fine as I only use it to name folders but I guess for people who're wanting to use it for editing docs (if you're studying etc) it may be a bit fiddly and you'd probably want the "proper" keyboard if you're wanting to do this - or send lots of or long emails. Not worth the extra £60 quid for what I use it for

I have a cover - I was worried about the screen getting damaged in my bag, but it was £4.68 from a seller on Amazon:)

I do still have "real" books - mainly as I've loads anyway .... but I'd still need the odd one for reading in the bath etc!

HTH - will try to think of more during the day!
