    Hi Ellie

That Toblerone will not be past its sell by date.... It can't ever be .... as I am not going up to check !!!

Your toblerone is a bit like Schrodingers Cat :rotfl:

Had another good day today, think I've eaten ok

    B granola
    L salad and micro chips
D chicken chasseur, few roast potatoes, veg
    S yakult drink, linseeds

even drank a glass of water..not like me!

no exercise, had to stay around the house as I was getting some plastering done...started cleaning up, but still lots to clean tomorrow - dust everywhere!

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?
  • :bdaycake:Happy Birthday Savesummore!!

Fozziebeartoo - I could have written your post - I have struggled with weight loss for years.

    Officeguru - well said!

Last week was a disaster eating wise, but
this week has been somewhat better.

    today:

Breakfast - slice of toast with banana and tbs of peanut butter

Lunch: hm cauliflower cheese (made with skimmed milk and cornflour) with half a small jacket potato

Dinner: hm Hairy Dieters recipe curry with brown rice and half a poppadum

drinks have been cups of tea and a glass of water.

Hope you are all having a good evening.

    Hi everyone

Thanks again for all the Birthday wishes!! I had a really lovely day :D

I have 2 boxes of chocs now though :rotfl:My plan is to have 1-2 a night with a cuppa (see how long that lasts)

Im off to Cheshire Oaks with my step mom today as I have the rest of the week off work- its a fair journey for us so hope there are some bargains to be had :)

Im guessing food maybe a bit 'hit and miss' the next few days but i will keep reporting in

OG- very well said I have to agree with you on what you have said about slimming clubs and diets etc we have to remember the likes of ww, sw etc are businesses and their main concern is making money

There is a very good book I have read in the past called 'Escape the Diet Trap' by DR John Briffa I am just reading it again and he makes very good points about why diets dont work

Have a good day all :)

Glad you had a good birthday yesterday savesummore.

Yesterday's inclusion of a mid-afternoon snack worked brilliantly - by dinner time I was hungry but not ravenous and ate a far more sensible portion. That seems to be the way forward for me. :)

B - two small wholemeal rolls with gooseberry jam
L - some sort of salad and fruit - I'm trying to limit myself to buying lunch once a week, and today is my 'once' for this week
S - very small handful of dried fruit and nuts
D - spicy chicken salad, with a couple of rye crispbreads if I need them

Then I'm out with friends at a pub quiz tonight but will limit myself to a couple of drinks as it's a school night.
Back after a very long break!

  • What you say is great advice and what I am trying to do (long term) but I was hoping to have a good cut back (1200 calories) for a couple of weeks to set me up for the long haul and get to grips with my portion sizes again.....

But it seems I cant manage one week, never mind 2

    :rotfl:

What I really, really want is to get the portion sizes sorted.

I have switched to an 8inch plate, so thats a good move.

I would much rather have a wee bit of REAL food (butter, full fat yog etc) rather than loads of foods with artificial sweetner etc.

Honestly, forget about calories... That all puts on pressure... so leads you to eat more....

Do what I do.... I only eat when I am hungry... (I am talking about mealtimes not snacks) for example, I usually only eat my main meal at night.... and I stop eating when I have had enough... so basically before you put food into your mouth say, 'am I hungry' if not, wrap it in cling and pop it in the fridge... If you are .. eat as much as you NEED and cling the rest and put it in the fridge  Because you know that you can go back and eat it if you want, you tend not to because you CAN !!!!!

I don't eat anything that is not real.... I only eat butter and full fat etc etc... They didn't have that cr*p when I was growing up so I only eat real food  Your low fat stuff is full of sugar.... or else mixed with water so, have your butter etc etc but use less... so I have a scraping of butter (Lurpak) on my toast or sandwiches... but that's not because it's fattening, it's to make it go further as I don't know when I'll get next to the supermarket... as betterhalf would come back with a large pkt of peanuts and other stuff and forget about the main staples of the house !!!

Another thing I do, is I use strong cheese, that way, you use less as you can taste the cheese... whereas if you use mild, you need to grate a lot more to taste it... If I was making macaroni cheese, instead of making a sauce, I use half semi-skimmed milk and half water and use cornflour to thicken and then add a little mustard, seasoning and grated cheese.... you would never know the difference... I don't bake my macaroni cheese because I put some on our plates and then pop the remainder in an container and the next day, I add a little extra milk as it would have thickened overnight and pop sliced tomato and a little extra cheese and pop it into the oven and so it does another meal... Before I started watching my weight, I would have eaten it all in a sitting because it was there !!!! :o

The only concession would be that I use semi-skimmed milk because I like it... I am not fond of full-fat milk. Every morning, my treat is a huge mug of coffee made with water and frothy milk.. I am usually still drinking it up to about 3.00 pm in the afternoon, but I like it...

I eat very little sugar as I am diabetic but if I do want a treat, I have normal chocolate, or whatever... but just a little... The few times I do get out for a meal, I sometimes order a dessert (although I prefer cheese and biscuits but it is not always on offer) and I eat maybe one third of it and my betterhalf eats the rest.. If he didn't, I would leave the rest... although up to how, he has always hoovered up 3/4s of the pudding or whatever...

I hope this helps... and there are plenty of others who can also put in the tuppence worth

    Have a lovely day

OG, I want to lose almost 3 stone from this point (just under 13 stone now), so yes, I think I'll be here for some time to come!

    Afternoon All,

Bit of a “yucky” day here weather-wise, misty low cloud but still comfortably warm so regardless I’m getting out there for an hour or so to walk a few miles.

Motivation is high at the moment, as ever when I start something – did a bit of a “fly-lady” around the house this morning to take my mind off food.

Got my head around meal planning again but yesterday was a bit of use up rather than throw out day – but today its:-

    B – Greek Yoghurt, honey & raspberries
    L – Slices of Toast x 2, pate, cucumber & tomato
D – Beef Stroganoff, very small portion of brown rice & a huge green salad.

Yes there will be soured cream in the Stroganoff but the thing I really must get out of the habit of is a couple of digestive biscuits spread with h/m raspberry jam with my cuppa before bedtime……..aah simple pleasures :D.

welcome back need2bthrifty...only a muffin top, I've got a Michelin tyre :)...(though this morning I thought it was deflating a little bit!)

Ellie you will get there - it took me 18months approx to get back to a weight I was happy with - but could ideally still lose more. I was beginning to resemble the michelin man when I started but determined not to go back there.

Anyway, I am off to make the tea.... I am making Melanzana alla parmigiana... I love it but I will have to watch that it doesn't soak up too much olive oil.... but it is something that I only eat about 4 times a year...

I love it too - found a recipe on BBCGoodFood website that only has 225cals per portion - using a griddle pan to cook the aubergines so you only brush oil on the slices rather than surrounding them in oil whilst cooking them in a flat pan - delish :D
