Can I join in the challenge again please; I haven’t been on this thread for a while and haven’t weighed myself for months - but to cut a long story short, the "muffin-top" has returned so weighed myself this morning and half a stone  has crept on through my negligence and laziness
welcome back need2bthrifty...only a muffin top, I've got a Michelin tyre...(though this morning I thought it was deflating a little bit!)

I havent given up and eaten my way through the fridge.....much to my surprise!!

Yay to no fridge devouring :T
See, you know you're doing the right thing by eating well.
We have 2 choices when we get discouraged by a sts...we can say fu*k it and get a pizza and a giant bar of chocolate (yes, done that before)...or we tell ourselves that eating healthily is a long term thing, and that the weight WILL shift if we keep going. (and remember, the pizza and choc option will pretty much guarantee a gain the following week, and then we will feel even worse)
We are strong enough and determined enough to do this!
I WILL fit into my favourite jeans again
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Thank you Pollybear and SIRENS, its good to know other people understand!!
I am 54 and weight loss has NEVER been straightforward, so why I think it should be this time around, I dont know!!
:rotfl:
Fridge is still intact......I havent even nibbled the handle yet!!
But a 90 calorie mango smoothie lolly may just have been added to todays food diary.....well, it IS warm here!!savesummore - Happy Birthday
fozziebeartoo - I know exactly how you are feeling. Last week I put on a poundeven though the only thing extra I had in the entire week was one piece of cake. One measly piece! So far this week I seem to have lost that pound again (though it's not Friday yet so who knows!) but that will still leave me at sts when I want to go down. Just keep plodding on is all I can think of. And keep reminding myself of how awful I felt before I lost 11 1/2 stone.....
Happy Birthday savesommore:bdaycake:
Well yesterday went to a museum and gardens with the kids and then to a sand park, so although our picnic did include chocolate and crisps, we did a ton of walking. Also hm pizza for tea but went easy on the cheese.:A
Today well quiet day in, going to clean the kitchen after lunch, then throw the kids in the garden for some fresh air and a bit of a tidy up out there.
B. blueberry bagel
L. Some sort of sandwich, crisp
D. Roast chicken, new pots, veg
fozzie I know its hard but sts the same is positive as ellie said it is so easy put on and a sts is that little shove we need sometimes to keep trying and stay focused. And see you are focused as no fridge devouring :T0 -

L - finger roll with grilled sausage, another with chicken salad
D - chicken/tomato pasta
S - carrot batons, nectarine, grapes
E - painted 4 garden fence panels

I am a total failure, useless and there is no point trying to diet etc, I just as well eat everything that isnt nailed down.
***big sigh***:(:(
I had better get on with reading my self help CBT book, I am such a negative thinker and forever catastrophising (sp?)!!:o:o
Can anyone share any tips on how to stay on the wagon, when things arent going as we would like please????
Hi Fozzziebeartoo,
Throw out the self help book......
Have you ever considered that your wagon is maybe too difficult to stay on in the first place ????
What I have found after over 40 years of dieting.... They don't work !!!! I have tried everything and got fatter each time I failed.. I even worked for weightwatchers at one point and it would surprise you to find that 90% of slimmers of the year, put all the weight back on... It's also taken me years to realise that slimming is a huge money making 'racket' and that there are temptations all around....
so what I would say is..... Sit back, put your arms behind your head, feet up on a stool and think what you would want to eat for the rest of your life..... :A and then plan your meals around that... For example,
I cannot live without pasta.... and the cheese that goes along with it.... so I don't try and live without that... I also love potatoes... so potatoes are on the menu.... but not on the same DAY as pasta.... I also love bread... but not on the same MEAL as pasta or potatoes.... When I was a kid, we drank water with our meals... so guess what ??? Today, I drink water with my meals.... and so on.... If you love chips..... allow yourself chips once a week and don't have any other fries... If you love a drink, have a drink but in moderation....I love toblerone... but I know that I would eat the whole of the giant bar....so I don't have it at all... hence it is on top of the wardrobe.... because it is on top of the wardrobe, I won't go out and buy another one !!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I can't resist biscuits, so I don't have them in the house... If I am going to have visitors, or children, I buy only enough goodies for that visit... For example, I had bought 4 muffins, and my friend and I had one each, so I asked my friend to take the other 2 away or I would have eaten them before teatime !!! :A
So as you can see, I don't count calories... but I am not stupid ... I know what is fattening and what is not... If I want something that would put weight on...I think about how hard it was to take off and I would have to really really want it .. so I wouldn't ruin all my hard work for something I don't really care for... and if I do have something, like trifle or something like that, I make sure that is all I have and I don't feel guilty... If you asked me out for a bar lunch or something like that (although I don't eat at lunch time) I would go with you and order what ever I fancied off the menu... :T I wouldn't go over the top, but I certainly wouldn't order salad stuff that I wouldn't enjoy... and I wouldn't feel guilty as it would be a one off...
If you have children or others to consider, just buy enough for them... The food I made at the weekend for my visitors, I wouldn't eat myself, but they never noticed as I was busy serving it up... so as they munched away at this and that...I only allowed myself one and kept myself busy and so on... :A
Also eat off a smaller plate, the size of portion should be no bigger than the palm of your hand.. for potatoes - the same for meat and double that for veggies... (as a rough guide.)
I hope you understand all that... I am just trying to say that you want to adjust your eating habits to ones that you can carry on for the rest of your life... also don't eat between meals and only allow yourself a treat once a week...
I hope this helps....0 -
Happy birthday, savesummore,
Have a lovely day....
:bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake:
I'm off to get the washing in as that's the sun away and the grey clouds are building up0 -
officeguru, totally agree with what you say, I also still eat things I like, what would be the point otherwise? Although I'm trying to re-educate myself with things like biscuits, I don't miss them at all.
There's a prog on tv tonight at 9pm, following dieters at 3 different slimming clubs over 3 months. I don't suppose the clubs would allow filming if they didn't get shown in a good light, so we won't see them a year later.
BTW, your toblerone has been on top of the wardrobe a long time now, do you think the best before date has been and gone? :rotfl:
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Hi Ellie
That Toblerone will not be past its sell by date.... It can't ever be .... as I am not going up to check !!!
Actually, I am going on holiday soon, so I'll ask my son to get it and share it with his children and their pals....
It might be an interesting programme, but slimming clubs don't want you to win as the money keeps coming in through the door... They don't mind an odd winner but it doesn't take brains to work out how much money they amass every week...
I remember the millions that weightwatchers was worth and that was years ago, and then they coined it in by persuading you to buy all their fancy 'slimming' products.... that were usually more fattening than the regular ones...Of course, I am getting cynical in my old age... If you want purgatory, go on the cabbage soup diet... That was dreadful.... The weight fell off you, but you couldn't keep to it for long ....:)
My daughter's friend was the lady on the Slimfast advert and she has cupboards full of the stuff... I'll not say what size she now is... but let's just say, they are alright for a short term...
Anyway, I am off to make the tea.... I am making Melanzana alla parmigiana... I love it but I will have to watch that it doesn't soak up too much olive oil.... but it is something that I only eat about 4 times a year...
Have a good evening, everyone.... and stop munching !!!! :beer:0 -
Thanks for taking the time to type all that officeguru, I really appreciate that!
What you say is great advice and what I am trying to do (long term) but I was hoping to have a good cut back (1200 calories) for a couple of weeks to set me up for the long haul and get to grips with my portion sizes again.....
But it seems I cant manage one week, never mind 2
:rotfl:
What I really, really want is to get the portion sizes sorted.
I have switched to an 8inch plate, so thats a good move.
I would much rather have a wee bit of REAL food (butter, full fat yog etc) rather than loads of foods with artificial sweetner etc.
But was hoping a couple of weeks of low cal would give me the oomph I needed.
Wrong???
I think so!!
Thank you again, its really nice that you went to so much trouble to reply!!
