I thought posting my menus on here would help me lose weight...I think it did help me to eat salad and not biscuits!...but it hasn't made me lose weight. I really feel like giving up...but I know I can't do that because if I was to relax my eating, instead if staying the same, I would put weight on. Right now, I feel like I'll be stuck in dieting mode for the rest of my life :(

    (Sorry, moan over)[/QUOTE]

I totally feel for you ellie. {{hugs}} I've been feeling very much the same way myself.
Finding life very tough at present, too. Two of close family have cancer, one I am carer for and it seems that it would be easier just to give up for now but if I do I'll make myself feel even worse and my health will get much worse ( I have mobility problems because of arthritis and need a wheelchair for getting about now).
I'd love to shelf the responsibility of losing weight but it wouldn't take long for me to feel the sheer panic of losing control of my eating again.
Sometimes it seems that there is no answer and I've been trying for so long to deal with the situation.

Oh dear, I seem to have hijacked your 'moan' with one of my own. Just this weekend has been a difficult one while waiting on news of results. I feel so tired.

What I should have said, and meant to say is I hope you feel better soon ellie and don't give up. ;)

Thank you Knit Witch, and feel free to hijack cheerfulness :)

We have cancer in the family too, and that and some other things often make me feel like I'm just treading water, and by the time I'm "free" to do what I want, I'll be too old to enjoy it!

I know life would be easier, and I think more enjoyable if I could just get my weight back down again...if only it wasn't so difficult!
(I've been so upset about things tonight that I haven't had any dinner...now that's NOT the right way to do it!)

(((hugs))) cheerfulness, hope you find some energy soon.

  • Ellie.....my heart goes out to you, I know how difficult it is. I am really frustrated about my weight loss (or lack of it!) of late.

I am always stressing to DM about it! The week before last I stressed out about our scales being crap, last week it was, "OMG I've lost something, come quick and confirm it....but make sure you confirm it correctly cos if I put loads back on I'll be miserable as sin!" And then of course this week it was +2lbs again so I was in a horrific mood. Poor DM. :rotfl:

Trying to make light of the situation there but really really past it!

I also wonder if writing it down on here makes any difference, I post now on MFP too so I dont know if I should be bothering doing it in two places, when I have one place I can calculate it (roughly) so I know what I'm doing and where I'm going wrong.

Have you tried going back to basics (other than salad instead of biscuits) like portion sizes, watching your salt/sugar intake, cutting out sauces on foods, etc, etc, etc? Dont mean to nag but there are a whole bevy of reasons why people cant shift the excess. I'm one of them and I still havent worked out my root cause yet.
Just keep trying things until you find what works for you.

    Much hugs <3

Hugs to ellie and cheerfulness - they don't help much, I know, but I hope all these virtual hugs are cheering you up at least a little bit.

    Today for me goes:

B - poached egg on one slice of buttered seed toast
L - veggie lasagne (my diet version, with loads of veg and only a very small amount of pasta); fresh fruit of some kind
D - pork and veg stirfry with a small amount of rice
Back after a very long break!

    Good Morning :o

    Note - sheepish face.

So I am still trying but like a few of you finding it hard going. Last week's excuse was HM lemon trifle (DD's 21st Birthday). This weekend it was HM Chocolate Eclairs (DS3's 17th Birthday). Next week it is HM Raspberry Trifle (entertaining uncle). You get the picture?

I am trying very hard in-between and will continue that this week.

    Hugs to Ellie x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a "weight amnesty", where a lovely fairy waved her magic wand and suddenly we were all at our target weight?
I'm sure we'd be so overjoyed we'd be able to "stay the same" with no problems at all. :)

Molly...in a reasonable world, one portion of trifle in a week wouldn't upset your weight loss, the fact that it does is just another part of our big weekend moan...it's not fair!

Dont think bibbity bobbity boo is going to help matters with me.

In my case it's more like gobbly gobbly goo[ey chocolate].
