That's exactly what it is, and it's lovely. I bought it from one of those jam and chutney stalls at a market on the Isle of Wight a few months ago: from the ingredients list it looks to be mass-produced rather than home-made, but sadly there's no maker's name on the label so I can't tell you where to get some from.Back after a very long break!0 -
Found via another forum (good ol' Google!)
Ginger Curd
Ingredients:
125g butter
100g (caster) sugar
2 large eggs plus 2 yolks
50ml syrup from a jar of stem ginger
7-8 pieces stem ginger chopped finely
juice of 1 lemon strained
Method
Slowly melt butter, sugar & add beaten eggs.
Stir in the syrup, ginger pieces & lemon.
Stir constantly till it combines and thickens.
Pour into prepared jars and seal tightly.
The curd will thicken as it cools.0 -
Hi All - well done to all the losers and STSer's
I got weighted on Friday but haven't had a chance to come on here over the weekend as it has been somewhat hectic here!
I am pleased to report a 4lb loss which I am pleased with. Whether or not I will lose on Friday this week I don't know as I have been soooo stressed and that always makes me eat!!
In the night on Thursday we were burgled and they took my daughter's car so Friday was spent with police and phoning insurances etc. Then my Aunt who lives 250 miles away died and I am her only relative so I will have to arrange the funeral and everything else.
Anyway yesterday I ate okay but today have had:
Brunch - half a wholemeal roll with cold beef, mustard and lettuce with mayo
Out shopping - Costa white chocolate and raspberry cooler:o
Have just come in at 6.30 and eaten two slices of white bread with clover and beef.
don't know whether or not I will have anything else to eat tonight ......
I loved reading your posts about cassette players, first records etc! I was a child in the 1970's and my first record was American Pie by Don McLean - I had no idea what it was about but liked the tune!!
I have to say I don't like the sound of ginger curd..... I don't really like ginger very much. Lemon curd I can eat off the spoon though!!
When I am on my main computer I can post in bold or add smilies etc, but when I am on my laptop I can't do quotes or use bold or smilies etc. Does anyone know why?Jane

Well done all the losers, particularly missrlr & recovering. (and sorry to hear about your problems recovering).
Sparrer - I used to live near Woburn Safari Park and loved going there. I used to go to Woburn Sands nearby as I loved the village and often took mum to the two garden centres just past it.
The Black Horse did a great steak dinner, too.
Course, this was many moons ago when I was growing up. Must be very changed now.
Eating rubbish this weekend. Running here, there and everywhere so nothing planned.
today:
Buttered roll x 2
sausage, bacon, egg, beans, hash brown,
2x toast
Toasted teacake
2x club biscuits.
Handful of peanuts
Surely it can only get better.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rough weekend, RS - hugs to you (if you want a hug in this hot weather, that is!
).
The problem with viewing the forum on your laptop might be something to do with the operating system, as I have a similar thing on my work PC - the quotes and smileys work, but I can't see them until I hit 'post' - rather than seeing aI see : )
Do you get the same thing, or do they not work at all?Back after a very long break!0 -
I am reliably informed that KW is now back from holibobs! So my duty here is done. :rotfl:
RS - I hope things get better for you soon. Also, are you posting in simple view or in advanced view re: the smilies?
In the meantime I have been really bad and scuppered my diet for the day...crisp butties came back to haunt me for a bit.... Will spend the rest of the week avoiding them now....lol0 -
:grouphug: for recovering spendaholic, sorry you're having a bad time.
my eating has not been very healthy today
B: berry granola, ss milk
L: half a tomato and egg sandwich, Jaffa cake bar
S: the rest of the jelly baby packet...they may not have been up to standard, but they still had to be eaten2 slices cheese and pickle on toast, another Jaffa cake bar!
"Dinner" was at DMs, but wasn't very hungry...it's so easy to revert back to a child and eat biscuits (well, cake bars) when your mother is offering them
E: did another car boot sale, so lifting and bending and generally wandering about...a very pleasant day meeting interesting people (and getting rid of stuff!) Too stiff and sore to unload the car...it'll still be there tomorrow
ETA: Thank you theatregirl for doing the list :T:j:T
and welcome back Knit Witch!
TG...you gave in to the crisp craving
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Absolute disaster this weekend x
It was my DD's 21st birthday and she ordered one of her mum's famous trifle instead of a birthday cake. Now this is a lavish affair with lots of whipped cream, full fat custard, lemon curd swiss roll and jelly to boot. It does taste delicious and it is the first one since Christmas:o
Oh well back on the straight and narrow tomorrow!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Crisps butties. I thought I had got over the addiction but one mention and I'm getting fidgety for them again. My all time favourite snack.
