:rotfl: of course we know what they are! (Not that I can speak for TG...but I do!) Admittedly it was cassettes when I was growing up rather than records but records were still sold and my parents and grandparents still had them.
And despite my tender years I am also a huge Queen fan
Aw thank you daisie, I don't feel quite so ancient now!
I had a little cassette recorder with microphone, and used to tape the songs I wanted off the Top 20 on a Sunday night...the microphone used to pick up everything, so you had to sit in silence...one Sunday night the song I wanted was interrupted by a large dog thumping up the stairs, and then my little brother dashing up after him ,shouting "dog, dog"...and I couldn't even shout shut up, or that would be on the tape as well, it's not easy indicating shut up to someone silently...:rotfl:
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
daisiegg - don't be so cheeky!!! :rotfl:
I'm nearly 30 I'll have you know, and I used to own a cassette recorder - and played my mum's 78's and 45's back in the mid 90's!
Anyhoo...weigh in's done up to here.
ETA: Meant to add, reading back over the last few posts...I must be one of the lucky ones with regards to talking to people around me about weight.
- DM is incredibly supportive of me these days now I've talked her around to not buying me "treats" on a more-than-regular basis.
- One of my friends is constantly dieting or starving himself so whenever I think of that I know its not the way I want to go with my intake.
- Also I know at least two people at work who work out or are part of a gym/slimming club etc, so I know who to go to if I need a friendly ear. Also quite a lot of people at work like chocolate or get cravings for certain foods the way I do...whether it be a alcoholic drink, peanuts or anything else we sell :rotfl:0 -

How old TG?!!!!!
In the late 50's/early 60's I had a Dansette major, the creme de la creme of record players, the first 45 I bought was Cliff Richard'sTravellin' Light/Dynamite - one track on each side, my camera was a Brownie box and we didn't have a house phone until I was married. No mobiles in those days. We were one of the first in the neighbourhood to get a television, a huge wooden box with a tiny screen, no colour and only two channels. Today my mobile phone is for making calls in case I break down when driving and I've no idea how the camera bit works!
Now who feels old
Confession time - was looking for some bits in the freezer and I found a Trojan chocolate bar. It isn't there any more though

Nearly 30. In fact, Wednesday is my birthday
I had a Brownie box camera too! Not sure if I still have it though.
My first "album" ever bought was in Woolworths and it was a 2 sided cassette of Ace of Base's Happy Nation.
So yeah. :rotfl:0 -

2st 0lb :j :j0 -
I too had a dansette which was my prized possession It was two tone with a red top and beige coloured bottom bit .I also saved up and bought a Grundig reel to reel tape recorder that cost me 15 guineas.it weighed a ton and I would tape lots of pop records onto it and then when there was a party anywhere it would be lugged there and put on as the music for dancing to.The local youth club on a Friday night cost 2/- which was expensive but we did get to drink as much squash as we wanted
:)It was there that I saw a band that was supporting a singer with dark hair who sang brilliantly with her brothers The group was called The Springfields and the young girl was called Mary (aka Dusty)the supporting group were scruffy young men with very long hair (for that era anyway) and looked like a good wash wouldn't hurt them. The lead singer was called mick and he pranced about all over the place and the lads laughed at him quite a bit .The group was The Rolling Stones and I remember thinking when I walked home with my pals chatting that they would never amount to much
:) How wrong was I
:)
I find that if I drink a glass of water before I eat anything I tend to eat slightly less.My problem is I have trouble with my mobility so exercise is more difficult, although swimming is good.I can problably swim further than I can walk in comfort:)
Chocolate and sweets isn't a problem but my downfall is cheese as I adore it and I know its what doen't help my weight loss. But I am determined to try a bit better andmy eledest DD says she wants to lose some so I will probably go along with her to help her have an incentive after our holidays0 -
Well I managed to lose 1lb yesterday, which I guess is good, was hoping for more though, although, did eat some chocolate, fish and chips and a BBQ in the week so I guess it's not surprising!! Know I'm going to have a v calorie filled day today as I'm helping family with a garden party and have already had to make a cheesecake, have accidently licked the bowl and the whisk and eaten the left over cream with a digestive!!!! I guess that counts as breakfast! They'll be cakes there all day today too. I'm going to treat myself a little today and get back on track the rest of the week.
Well done to all the losers and keep your chin up to all those who didn't lose. I'm having to think of this as a new way of eating rather than as a diet. Snacking and portion size is my issue, I'm trying to cut down more on the carb portion size as I seem to have twice as much as the recommended serving size!!! I've been doing some exercise too, only a couple of runs, but I guess better than nothing.
Have a lovely weekend x0 -
Morning All
Well I am repoting a STS again
I am relieved though as ds birthday yesterday and he had requested chocolate cake, why I made such a large cake is beyond me though:eek:
We also had a lovely meal which was none to healthy and which I will gloss over very thickly now:whistle:
Have received my ww referal pack but am trying to delay until the kids go back to school after the summer hols as I would need to take them with me and really want to focus on it and make the most of the free trial.
I will carry on posting my meals from mondays as I really can't post in good conscience the amount of chocolate cake I may consume this weekend:cool:'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess

Morning all
Memories! The Dansette cost £19/19s/11d, DSis, DB and I put £5 each towards it and DM paid the rest so a family possession but DSis and I called it ours as we used it most.
Cheese is my downfall too Jackie so I buy rf, imho the Wyke is best as it has a bit of a kick to it. Not perfect but a fair substitute
missymoo I never use the word 'diet', I have an eating plan
TG it's an excellent week for birthdays, yours on Wednesday, mine on Thursday. Might have guessed you were a Leo, not that I'm particularly into astrology (and I'm more that twice your age but we won't go into that). Thank you for keeping us all in order over the past week
B - F&F, ss milk
L - cheese salad sandwich
D - baked aubergine stuffed with 2 oz mince, tomato and onion
S - fresh fruit/veg (taking note of the sugar in fruit posts I have carrots and celery to munch on)
E - done 1x10mins, and need to go out to do some gardening
Have a good weekend0 -
