Morning all, up bright and early to watch the Sky news interview with A Girl Called Jack but they cancelled it to tell us in a trillion words that the Duchess of Cambridge is in labour. Just as well I like listening to Classic FM so don't have to suffer the drivel that 'reporters' will spout all day and possibly longer
KW yes please, do let us into the secret! I want to eat and lose weight
B - nectarine
D - warm bacon & chicken salad: diced back bacon, fat cut off fried with 1/2 onion, slice chicken diced, grated carrot, beetroot, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, level desert spoon rf mayo.
T - 2 slices WW white (they'd sold out of brown) scrape of mayo, filled with lettuce, cucumber, tomato, shaving of rf cheese.
S - celery/carrot batons, satsuma
E - 4x10 mins planned, an hour in the garden dead-heading etc well overdue
Have a sunny day0 -
^^^ this is a theory I just don't understand properly...Knit Witch, have you more information or experience of how it works?
I'm sort of 50/50 on whether I believe that not eating enough halts weight loss -
on the one hand, this weekend I haven't eaten much (certainly not in volume) and yet I'm a pound up this morning
On the other hand, when my friend was going through a very rough time, she pretty much stopped eating properly, and she lost stones in weight...her body didn't say "you're not eating enough, I'm going to stop you losing any more". The starving mothers and children in Africa aren't fat...which is why I wonder if this theory is something the western world has invented.
And yet...we are learning a lot more about how the body works...
I just don't know, and I'm scared to try it...if I eat MORE, I'm convinced that I'll put weight on, that's what's always happened in the past!
I have hypothyroidism ellie99, so my metabolism is dodgy from the get go! I didn't know I had this and kept cutting down and cutting down (oh and I was on steroids as well ) I got down to 500 a day on a good day and stayed the same - so I have to train myself to eat properly and if I do I can slowly lose (Dr KW reckons I am just wired up wrong :rotfl:)Must use my stash up!0 -

Its this thread here KW.

Everyone sets their own personal limit for spending that month and then declares at the end how well they did.
I am hopeful that in August I might not be gringing at that point and will be proudly saying I stayed on budget.
Mines set at £200 per month for 4 adults, everything including cleaning, toiletries etc.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Hi all - it's VERY hot here today!!
menu for the day:
Breakfast - none - up too late!
lunch - hard boiled egg, chicken drumstick, salad, half a bread roll and a cup of tea
Dinner - it is my friend's birthday and we are going to her house for dinner but she is on a diet too so will just be doing roast pork and lots of veggies and no cake!
When I was out this morning I went past a new italian gelato shop so of course I had to go in a try some;) - it was £2.50 for a scoop on a cornet and I chose turkish delight flavour and it was horrible - it tasted like toothpaste!! only ate half of it.
When I got back I decided to defrost the freezer with the steam cleaner - it wasn't the best idea in this hot weather and I was absolutely drenched with perspiration when I had finished!
CheerfulnessI have tried the grocery challenge a few times and failed miserably!! I can't seem to stop doing "top up" shops and spending a fortune. i will try again for August though.Jane

KW - if you get round to looking at that thread don't overlook the recipe lists. They are excellent.
RC- We'll have to cheer each other along. I'm a toad for top ups after doing a weeks shop. I'm determined to get this under control as I spend so much money I can't really afford.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

Oh dear. I'm having a really hungry day today.
To my meal plan, add one custard cream biscuit mid-morning, a large handful of Bombay mix with my lunch, and a flapjack cookie just now.
I think I may need to change my planned evening meal for something lower calorie!Back after a very long break!0 -
Afternoon all,
I hope everyone had a good weekend.. At last it has got a little cooler.. I am sure the chooks stopped laying 'cause of the heat !!! The sun is trying to come out, but thankfully, it is not succeeding...
Nothing much to report, except that I was invited to a bbq yesterday so I went... but there were around 60 people so I couldn't linger long.. with my dodgy condition, 2 toilets and all these people doesn't add up so I stayed about 2 and a half hours. I didn't eat since before teatime the night before but I couldn't risk eating anything there... No, don't get me wrong, but as my beloved was tucking into all the food and informing me with each mouthful that it was delicious but that I couldn't have it as it was too spicy... he also informed me between mouthfuls, that I couldn't have the dessert either as it had whole strawberries/raspberries in them and I can have anything with seeds in it... but his jaws never stopped munching (no change there !) and I kept myself happy with a glass of water... I am not complaining as the hosts are lovely people and it was nice to get out of the house...
The day before, my beloved decided he was going to cook on the bbq  (I don't know why, as he can't cook and he won't listen to me or pay attention when I am using the bbq).... Anyway, he wouldn't let me interfere and as I hadn't had a breakfast, I was looking forward to it... Well, what did he do ??? He got 2 1" thick sirloins out of the freezer and then covered them with spices and then used my hot chilli sauce..:( because of that, I couldn't have any...so he ate both of them... I asked where he had put the potatoes or whatever... He then said he didn't make anything else... so that was it !!! 2 steaks... no potato (I can eat that) no salad (I can't eat that) no bread (he didn't buy any) so it was too late and too hot for me to defrost and make myself something so that's why I was really hungry when I got to the big bbq on Sunday..
I didn't plan not to eat anything for almost 2 days but it just goes to show the best laid plans and all that... I could have snacked on crisps and stuff but I couldn't be bothered in the heat...
So after eating very little at the weekend, I am back in charge of the food again... I've taken out some chicken fillets and I am going to serve them up in a nice creamy mushroom sauce.. I'll use a lowfat Philly as the base as it will be less fattening than using cream... Well, I hope so as I haven't checked that... I'll serve it up with some new potatoes and I'll make a tomato salad as well and I can eat that as long as I remove the seeds... I still haven't any bread in as I haven't been to the supermarket...
I also have a little mum cat & 5 kittens up the stairs... I almost died when I went up to check on them as I saw a heavy wrought iron lamp lying on the floor close to the kittens with broken glass all around.. She must have climbed up to the top of the bookcase and knocked it over... Hopefully there are all fine...but I am going to shift the box to the other side of the room... so the kittens are safe from falling objects...
Anyway, I am off to cook as I am 'gutten hungry'... and hello to everyone... and well done TG for all your sterling work...0 -
Oh dear....better list this as a bad day!!!
Breakfast was a crusty roll with ham and cheese
Lunch was in the pub with a friend, had southern fried chicken wings with chips and a mini pot of coleslaw...plus a bacardi and coke
Tonight just got home and there is hm pork and stuffing mums made..!
Plus some crisps have made a reappearance and they were lovely...
However. Did do my usual 25 min walk round stations going to and from meeting my friend and also got my sweat on in the garden this morning with sweeping weeding and moving bunny hutches....so me and dm have reclaimed the garden back from them taking it over...lol.0
