Another day over...don't they just fly by?

    Today I've had
    B: granola, ss milk
L: sandwich (1 slice of wm, instead of the normal 2) with lettuce and tomato
D: rest of yesterdays quiche, lettuce, beetroot, coleslaw

E: an hour strolling round our high street...we can't park in the main street any more, so need to park in other streets and walk. Our powers-that-be decided the town needed improved, and what we needed was a nicer street, narrowing the road (which already has a bottle neck) and widening the pavements to put in benches and trees. So the signs and the traffic lights went up, and they blocked off all the street parking so the cars can queue at the lights. I've never seen the shops so empty.
This was meant to take 20 weeks...but...headline news this week...when they started digging up the road, they discovered about 12 inches of reinforced concrete underneath, which had been laid in 1939 for the tanks coming through the town...you couldn't make it up  Oh... and they also plan to close off a vehicle entry off the main street into a side street which has been used for many many years, for no reason as far as I can see apart from it'll make the pavement look nice...the shopkeepers affected have complained and got nowhere...how can that even be legal?

Apologies for wandering off topic, my excuse is it means I need to walk further, so good exercise :)

Mrs CD...good grief, you're going to be exhausted before your holiday arrives! It's a wonder you had time to eat at all with all that running around.

Isn't it funny how there's so much to do before you can go away..and how it's usually only the woman who can see it all?

I can remember dashing about doing everything you've described, and then OH at the time would pack his own bag (his entire contribution to getting ready) and wonder why I was getting stressed :rotfl:

Make sure you enjoy your break :)

I will start tomorrow and plan my food and post it accordingly x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Evening all.

Never got around to my post in the end as I remembered I had some very important phone calls to make, so they took over for a while. And then a co worker emailed out really short notice to see if anyone could cover for her tonight, so I said I would :D

Also my heels swell up in hot weather, particularly as I walk so much. Causes my shoes to rub, so right now I have a very unpleasant sore patch on the back of my heel!

anyway mealplan today - bit carb heavy, I'll have to do better tomorrow!!!

b - 2 x turkey rasher and ww sausage, made into a sandwich (2 small slices of bread)
l - rather unusual combination of uncle b's mexican rice, piece of cheese, bagel with spread
    s - fruit pot
d - hm portion of stirfry, piece of brown bread with spread
s - piece of cheese, mini cream meringue :o

really trying to cut down on the crisps this week, havent brought any since last week and avoided the chocolate aisle at the SM today too - go me! :rotfl:

Does anyone have any suggestions for calorie burning exercise I could do that doesn't impact my feet? The recently-healed broken foot is still really painful and the doctor said I shouldn't be exercising in it. But I do feel I would like to do something. So far all I can think of is squats and sit ups. Any ideas?

There are various chair exercises you can do, daisie. I think they're called "seated cardio workouts" according to Youtube lol. I'm sure you can do a Google search and find something to suit you :)

I'm getting ready for hols at the weekend, so rushing around like a whirling dervish to get everything done! You know the thing - it's as if the house has never been cleaned, or the beds changed, or the freezer de-frosted, ever and they all absolutely must be done right now before we go on holiday, so that it's all spick and span for when we get back! I'll be ready to collapse by the end of the week at this rate So I'm counting all this as my exercise for the week!

You could be my Mum's twin. She's EXACTLY the same! :rotfl:
Anyone got any favourite healthy meals/recipes to share?

I'll type some of my favourites out below this post :D

    Hi All

I tried to post last night, but I had dragged my overlocker out of the cupboard and one of the threads kept breaking.. and kept breaking and it was still breaking at 10pm last night... I had to give up... I went onto the internet with the intention of solving the problem and one of the suggestions was to leave it... so I did and this morning it worked fine.. I had to go to the supermarket late morning and guess what ??? The thread starting breaking again... I would have stopped at that but I need to do a rolled hem... so I have left it again !!!!

Not a lot to say otherwise, except I am doing not too badly... keeping myself busy with the garden as well... still trying to get the men to give me their receipts so that I can finish the dreaded vat returns... They don't seem to realise that we can get fined if they are late...

I took one of my friends for a run in the car... It was absolutely gorgeous... we headed up the coast but so did everyone else so I turned down this little country lane and it was lovely.. Peaceful with only me on the road (Good thing really :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: ) and we stopped at a little pub and had a soda water and lime and then I drove down the road to home... We must have been away for about 2 hours and it did me good to get away from the house for a wee while..

I've also got another cat... That's me got three at the moment... That's the most I'll take at one time as they are really traumatised and when they can smell other cats, it can make my job more difficult... I never fails to amaze me that people just dump their pets at this time of the year rather than plan anyone to watch them over the holidays ... The wee one is now ready to be homed... she's turned into a lovely little cat...

Well, I think that's about all for now... nothing special happening tomorrow except me trying to get my overlocker to work...

I haven't had a chance to read back the posts but I hope everyone is well and happy...
  • Okay here are my recipes for my h/m stirfry and my h/m chicken risotto. [The latter is suitable for vegetarians I think....]

    Homemade Beef Stirfry
    1) Prep meat first and cut into cubes.
    2) In a large wok, heat some oil. I use a few sprays of FryLight (1 cal per spray)
    3) When oil is heated, add the chopped meat and turn until it is brown in colour (rather than the raw red colour)
    4) Add vegetables. I use packets of stirfry veg ready chopped from the sm, plus a tin of sweetcorn (juice drained off), but you can add whatever you like.
    5) Let the veggies cook and then mix the contents of the wok together.
    6) Add salt and pepper to taste, and stir well.
    7) Add noodles. I use pre-bagged fresh egg noodles (found on the fruit/veg aisle in my local Mr T) but again, use what you prefer.
    8) Mix the noodles with the veg and meat, and keep stirring so the noodles dont stick to the bottom of the pan.
    9) Serve, or portion and leave to cool before freezing.
  • And the other...

    Lemony Chicken Risotto
    1) Dice some onions finely into small cubes or strips.
2a) In a microwavable tub put about 150g of plain long grain rice or similar, add hot water to cover, and cook as per packet instructions - usually about 4-5 minutes. When cooked, remove and drain.
2b) While rice is cooking in the microwave, take a vegetable stock cube and melt it in a little hot water. You wont need a lot, literally enough to cover the bottom of the wok when added to the recipe.
    3) In a large wok, heat some oil (again, I use FryLight for this)
    4) Add the chicken to the wok. I use Quorn chicken pieces which are already diced for me so it's simpler and healthier.
    5) Add the veggie stock, a few spoonfuls at a time. Allow it to be absorbed into the chicken before adding more.
    6) When chicken is beginning to cook, add chopped onion and a tin of sweetcorn (juice drained off). Stir well.
    7) Add salt and pepper to taste (only a little). Stir well.
    8) Add lemon juice. I use the lemon juice in the bottle (for pancake toppings) but you can use fresh as well. Stir so the flavour really seeps into the chicken.
    9) Add the rice a little at a time. Stir well to prevent it sticking to the bottom of the wok.
    10) Add more lemon juice so the rice can absorb the flavour as well. Stir.
    11) Serve, or leave to cool before portioning.
  • Hi - welcome to all fellow newbies!!

Maddywaddy - I am the same as you - I have been struggling losing and gaining the same few pounds for the last six months and I REALLY need to lose weight as i have horrible arthritis in my knee.

Molly41 - I have to say that my experience of WW is not great - I get too obsessed with counting the points and if I even go one over I go into "oh well I've blown it so I'll just eat all kinds" mode. That said, I am really messed up with regards to food so you may do really well with it

MRS CD - can you send me a bit of your energy please!

TG - how many does the lemony chicken serve?

I have had a really rubbish couple of days so I am going to really and try and focus so that I manage to lose a lb on Friday!

I have loads of fruit in, plus vegetables and salad so I have no excuse!

I am also going to try and drink more water - I am dreadful at it!!

Now I have to actually think what I want to eat today?

I have been just plodding through the day and snacking as have been feeling-so-under-the weather.

I will go away and think about it!!!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

Well, I'm back. I weighed myself this morning and I put on a pound over the weekend, which could have been worse but definitely isn't great. :o My main goal for the next week or so is therefore to lose it again.

    Today therefore goes:

B - cereal bar and a handful of dates
L - small mixed salad and a couple of slices of pesto and tomato roll (a bread-based swiss roll-type thing I made yesterday); small pack of yoghurt-covered raisins
D - small portion of pasta with spicy tomato and prawn sauce; stewed HG blackcurrants with a small portion of frozen yoghurt

Sunday I went to Magic Summer Live :D music event down in Surrey. It was fab, and had amazing street food of many varieties :o I did have to sample a few different things and have a couple of glasses of prosecco :o

Really? That's where I was, too! I wonder if we passed each other at some point?
Back after a very long break!
