Change to my lunchtime meal - scrap the roll with cheese and tomato, there was one lonely bacon rasher in the fridge after portioning the pack up for the freezer so I had that instead of the tomato. But with cheese, of course ;)

I second what CCP said about checking someone's page. They still pop up occasionally, some of them just don't get the message

re cheese, I've tried about every rf cheese on the market and imho Wyke in the pink & yellow pack is the nearest to whole fat in flavour. Not keen on the taste of WW ones and they don't grate very well, the lack of fat makes them 'bendy' iyswim. Always on the lookout for different rf ones, all suggestions gratefully received :D

    Sweet dreams :)

Okay time for that inspiring post lol.

I know I've posted some of the following before so if you've already seen it dont mind me for the time being.

I personally use several tools when dieting.
    1) The first is not to deprive yourself of anything you want. If you want a bar of chocolate, a piece of cheese, for Gawds sake - HAVE IT. I am of the opinion that if you dont have it, that when you do succumb to having your "treat" (and you will!) you overdo it. It is all about moderation.
    2) Measure your vitals, as well as weigh on the scales. It might not show it on the scales but it may show on a tape measure. I often find this is the case.
    3) Mealplan. There are some great meal ideas on the forums that can be adapted to suit veggies, fussy eaters, etc. I like Rosemary Conleys mealplans, they are interchangable and so great for working out your food intake in advance.
    4) If you live alone or cook for only yourself, may be worth exploring batch cooking. I started doing this a couple of months back and it has changed my lifestyle completely.

Here's a couple of examples (sorry for the picture size!)

    1_zps4df4d593.jpg

    2_zpse779d9b7.jpg

The first one is of the pasta bake I made the other week. Very simple and plain, just pasta cooked as normal, tin of tomatoes, and a little grated cheese over the top. :) That dish size made three portions.
The second is of the contents of the freezer draw I keep for "after work" food. These are all portioned meals in those little chinese style tubs! I can get four portions out of a standard size wok, some of what you can see is lemon risotto (made with quorn chicken, rice, sweetcorn and onion), stirfry (made with egg noodles, stirfry veg and diced beef) and pasta bake (as above).
Doesnt work out expensive - I get basmati rice (smallest pack) for 65p, quorn is £2 a bag, value sweetcorn is 32p a tin. The meat for stirfry I buy on offer or reduced (about £2-3 a time depending), egg noodles I buy when there are a glut reduced (85p a bag) and ditto that with the stirfry veg (usually pay £1.15 per large tub).

    5) Introduce fruits and veggies gradually. No one expects you to have 5 a day every day when you start, just start with 1-2 pieces and build it up.
    6) Smaller plates for meals. Sounds stupid but it works.
    7) Really look at what you're eating. I swear by this book when I'm portioning and planning a meal, it was recommended to me by my now ex dietician.
    Carbs & Cals (+ Protein & Fat)
    8) Walk. I am personally self conscious, and I hate running in public, and I hate the gym. Instead I walk as much as I can, I use the stairs rather than the lift (although I like escalators lol) and do little jobs around the house to keep me moving. Also walking tones the leg muscles which is always a plus.
    9) Turkey rashers. :) I was going on about these the other week, but Matteson's do these and I find they are a healthy alterative to bacon. Also Weightwatchers sausages are heavenly and much less cals and fat.

I will probably come up with more at a later date but that's all I can think of to help out for now, given its quite a late hour. :)

    Mornig all :)

SIRENS they make a chocolate cream cheese now, the very idea makes me feel yuk !

Some useful tips there tg, I think we've all been down the 'It's only Monday but I'll have my treat on Saturday' road then pigged out when we lost control.
Walking/swimming are really the best exercise but for those of us who can't for various reasons we can make up for it. If I have to go upstairs for anything I sometimes go up halfway, come back down then go to the top. Sounds madness and at first it can leave you breathless (as it did me, was hauling myself up by both handrails!) but it's good for lungs/heart so I percy vere. My kitchen table is in the middle of the room so I always go the long way round it to get to where I'm going. Lately I've been getting up in advert time to do small jobs which helps a lot and I can get masses of wee jobs done, though I do sometimes get stuck in to whatever I'm doing and miss half the next bit of programme

Back later with menu's as I've really no idea! have a visitor late morning but not sure how long she'll be here so will play it by ear

Hope the sun shines where you are :)

Apparently the chocolate cream cheese is very nice - if you spread it on a digestive biscuit it's like a LF chocolate cheesecake. Obviously I'm going on other people's reports here - I have no intention of trying it myself! _pale_

I did end up drinking cider at the quiz last night but, as it was hot in the pub, I had it over ice which took longer to drink and meant I had two glasses rather than three. That's sort of :A.

    My plan for today:

B - raisin granola with strawberry yoghurt - quite a big portion as last night's snack dinner meant I was ravenous this morning :o
L - dunno - for once I haven't brought anything to work with me (I couldn't face another portion of burnt chilli - I've got a horrible feeling it will end up in the bin :() so I'll have to buy something. It will probably be one of the sandwich / fruit / drink meal deals from a supermarket - not terribly exciting, really.
D - Thai chicken curry with Chinese greens and rice noodles (i.e. what I'd planned to have last night)

Have a good day, all. :)
Back after a very long break!

I cannot believe that price? I have that book too!!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Can't actually remember if I posted yesterday's food diary or not...but here it is...

    B - cereal
    L - mackerel salad
D - vegetarian mixed bean chilli with wild rice

No snacks or wine! A couple of cups of tea with low calorie soya milk. Exercise was mowing the lawn.

Something disagreed with me (hubby thinks it was the sheer volume of vegetables and beans in the chilli lol but I suspect it was the mackerel) and I have felt poorly with an upset tummy, so not eating a huge amount today.

I'm still feeling really deflated and not motivated about this whole weight loss thing :( even though I have enjoyed reading all your reasons for wanting to lose weight. Maybe I should post mine.

daisie, my DM had a problem with tinned salmon about a year ago, she's stayed off fish ever since, unless its yellow haddock that you cook from fresh.

cheerfulness Regarding the book, I never looked at the price on that link I posted
I think THIS ONE should be a bit more MSE friendly :rotfl:

Lots going on here today. Had to visit dentist at 9.30am and was told I'd need 2 fillings, one to patch up an existing filling and a new one on the other side. Dont have to go back for three weeks so I can rest easy for the meantime.
Then after popping to Tesco's and the laundromat, came home, had food (as I skipped breakfast, I dont do early mornings + food) and then went out to see the bunnies. Milky wasn't eating though.....and so it was an emergency trip to the vets for him - he's been given a course of painkillers + something to help his stomach, so hes back home now :)

Of course 3 things come out of this - 1) it wasnt very MSE at all! My bank account is very poorly! 2) Food has been all over the place and 3) I'm exhausted! lol.

    mealplan:
snack (at 8.30am) - cereal bar
brunch - cheese & radish sandwich on 2 small slices bread, crisps, 2 x choc bics
lunch - hm portion stirfry, fresh cream meringue :o
dinner - going out tonight, got free tickets to see Merrily We Roll Along (the perks of my job!) so will have Bogger Ming ;) with my friend before and then snacks/alcohol at the theatre.

Have a good day all <3
