I was hoping you would be MrsDragon.... It's terrible that you have to change your handle...
Anyway, I had to go to the church Strawberry Fayre on Saturday morning so I came away with a punnet of strawberries and a bottle of Lambrusco, which I won on the tombola....
I remember when Lambrusco was the wine of choice... Great sweet summer wine... Well, I didn't want to waste anything so I decided to make a dessert for the DH...
So what was in the old cupboard (which is never bare !!!) ??? I have enough gelatine to last for the next 20 years...
So I dissolved 100 grms of sugar in 100 grms of water... I then added the gelatine (enough for 1 pt of liquid) and followed the directions on the pkt... I chopped up all the strawberries, took some mint off my hanging basket and chopped that up (about 4 leaves) and added some lemon juice... I poured the gelatine mix into a jug and made it up to 1 pt with the lambrusco... I then transferred everything into a large bowl and stirred in all the strawberries etc... Obviously everything floated to the top... so I kept an eye on it and checked it every couple of hours and once it had started to thicken, I stirred the mixture again, checked that the strawberries weren't floating any longer and ladled the lot into 6 dessert dishes... I could just have easily left it in one large dish... Once it had completely set, you could turn it out... but all my DH did, was to pour some double cream onto the top and he said it was absolutely delish...
So if you use sugar substitute and a low fat cream or whatever you fancy, it is a nice way to use up strawberries... The wine wouldn't have that many calories as it was divided between 6 dishes (unless you eat all the 6 dishes yourself :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
Just thought I would share it with you...
I was going to show you a picture of my garden, which I work about 50 hours a week in, but I wasn't sure what programme to use to upload some photos ...0 -
So today -
B: cornflakes, sultanas, ss milk
L: (very late) cheese on toasthaggis wrapped with bacon, the last few oven chips
S: the last 3 sweets (well, not really the last, all the choc eclairs are still in the tin, but I won't eat those, why waste perfectly good chocolate by adding toffee?)
E: walked round shops
had an impromptu visit to town today...I needed a couple of gifts, and this morning the postman brought a leaflet advertising a sale at a local shop...this is not a shop I normally go to, too expensive...but they had duvet sets reduced from £120 to £30, so I thought surely the quality will be good, and I really liked the design. So I drive 25 miles...and they don't have any in stock, the supplier has let them down, but they should be in soon  I remember when sales were for getting rid of your old stock, not getting stuff in specially. They also had sheets I wanted, but no flat sheets, so no sale there either. (I had a lovely wander round though, planning all the furniture I'd buy when I win t'lottery)
I also wanted a little coat for a 6 month old, I was in 4 large shops before I found one, and that was only ONE which was in the sale, no choice, and more expensive than I'd have liked. I know it's summer, and I didn't expect to have loads to pick from, but really...none at all? I live in Scotland fgs, little kids sometimes need a coat in the summer!!!
The best thing I can report about the wasted trip is that I looked up the street to the newsagent, thought they might have the choc bar I've been craving...and then decided my back was too painful to walk the extra distance, so didn't buy any :T Still aching now, need my bed.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

We're all here for you, and good for you standing your ground and not being chased off :T
Today's been a bit of a funny sort of day. I had a little lie-in - got up at 8.40, got all the washing done and dried eventually. Didn't want to risk putting out as there were spits and spots of rain, off and on all day. Got the bank account up to date again and paid a bill, then after lunch - toasted corned beef sandwich - I finished off a project I'd started ages ago. I'd crocheted a cover for a needle case, with flowers etc., and today I made it into a case with individual slots for all my brand spanking new coloured crochet hooks (very expensive - £3ish from Amazing!) Quick trip out p.m. to post a letter and buy milk as I'd forgotten to take some out of the freezer last night, then it was time for tea. I made cheats spag bol with lots of veggies and quorn mince. I make a pack do 2 lots of 4 adult meals.
Went out after tea to look for furniture with DD1 and got back about half an hour ago. I'm putting off doing the dishes, so sorry if I'm rambling..........;)2025 Fashion on the ration

. I hate when people don't read and stick to the Etiquette statement for their own sick amusement. We loved the late Dragon lady, we already love her replacement just as much.

Yesterday evening was an emotional mess after a horrid disagreement with a family member, so gave in like the coward I was to emotional eating. Looking back this morning I'm cross with myself but am not going to dwell on it, just put in a bit more effort towards losing the last half lb.
Monday
B - F&F, ss milk
L - Ham, egg, salad. They put chips on the plate which I had asked them not to and I didn't eat a single one, felt very proud of myself
S - 2 shortbread, haggis (must have been HaggisDay ellie!) and veg/couscous stir-fry, Trojan bar, chicken/mayo wrap.
Unsurprisingly I felt quite ill after eating all that lot after 7 o'clock in the evening
Today
B - F&F, ss milk
L - 3 crackerbread spread with ff yogurt, 1 with peanut butter, 1 rf cheese & scrape of pickle, 1 marmalade
S - fresh fruit
E - 1x10 mins done before breakfast!!!!!! Need clean out the footwells of my new car before putting mats in, ironing, more 10 mins later.
Am going to try what a friend suggested, when I have the television on and the ads come on get up and do something, polish, exercise, iron etc. Even though it doesn't usually go on til the 6pm news that could be a lot of evening exercise!
Hope we all have a sunny, happy day0 -
Hello all
Had rather a nice pub lunch with a friend yesterday, ended up talking for hours over glass after glass of wine :rotfl: Today I have to take things easy though as I have a buttload of forms to fill in and send off, so will have to get cracking on that in a minute. If I get time later I might make another batch of risotto before Mum cleans the kitchen hob, lol.
Not sure this weekend's weigh in is going to be good to me, I've been eating out a lot recently and will be eating out again for lunch on Thursday......so we'll have to see lol. I was doing so well before NYC and lost what I wanted to, just having a lot of problems getting back into the swing of it.
yesterday:
b - cereal bar + tea
l - (at pub) chicken salad club sandwich + chips, pancakes with maple syrup & ice cream
d - bacon sandwich (to soak up the alcohol)
snacks - none, but I guess the wine should go here...lol.
today:
b - piece of smoked haddock + 2 slices bread with spread
l - small bowl basmati white rice, 2 x fajita wraps filled with cheese and salad
d - hm risotto
snacks - 2 x oreo bics0 -
Remember folks - the new challenge starts on Saturday! Time to start thinking if you want to join in and if so how much you hope to lose.
