    Hi all, can I join?
I've been doing WW since January 2012 ad have lost 24 lb but have been on a plateau for months.
In the last few weeks I have virtually cut out alcohol and haven't increased my food intake (as far as I am aware) but have just stayed the same for the last 3 weeks:mad:
I'm therefore going back to old style calorie counting but will still carrying going to WW for a weekly weigh in. I'm aiming for 9,000 calorie per week

I'm looking forward to picking up some tips along the way.

I am 13 stone and want to lose 25 lb by October when I will be 50

    Joanne

    Welcome x

We try to break the weight loss down into a series of challenges. The present one end in about 3 weeks so you can join in now and set yourself a reasonable goal to achieve. Then start again with the new challenge. If you post weight loss and targets in red then our esteemed leader Dragon can put you on our list.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Welcome Joanne :)

Very glad it's the beginning of a new week, I found the weekend very difficult (all my own fault). Long boring story short...this weekend was the 3rd anniversary of my first date with my now ex...someone I thought I would spend the rest of my life with (and when you're over 50 there's not too many of them around!)
Obviously that didn't happen, and this weekend I allowed myself to remember the good bits of our relationship...I had a proper wallow :)... instead of what I usually remember, which is the pretty horrendous long-drawn-out ending.
I'm not complaining, I'm pretty content with my life, but I don't think I'll ever feel that sheer love of life and happiness again. Compared to 3 years ago, I'm now overweight, less fit and healthy, in more physical pain every day, and have no job...god knows what my life would be like if I wasn't trying to be positive and improve things :rotfl:

So I wasn't great this weekend, but pleased to say I didn't immediately go to my default mode of "feeling bad, eat to cheer myself up"...I had an ice cream (only 1, not 12 :rotfl:), little piece of cake at Mums, 1 portion of chips...not great, BUT...I went to supermarket for Mum, and didn't buy any chocolate, and I planned to drink wine on Sat night, but settled for a giant mug of tea and digestives (how rock and roll am I :rotfl:)

(As a totally irrelevant aside - something that really bugs me - people who drink regularly, but say "oh I'd never drink alone!"...as though that makes them better than someone like myself, who normally spends 7 evenings a week alone, and only very occasionally has a drink. If I can't drink alone, I can't have a drink )
So...I've gone up a pound again, so am playing catch-up this week :o

    Hi Ellie

Your story was not boring !!!! I was just thinking about the 43 years I have spent with my beloved.. It didn't matter what he did at the weekend, he did it wrong :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: so you have been saved all that... Mark you my next-door neighbour is a bit of an ar*e and I would rather have my useless numpty than him any day.. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway, the point of my reply is that I was feeling pretty miserable myself as I am still not any better so I am getting a bit stir crazy... but I was due to see a friend this morning so I could tell her my woes... Well, she telephoned me... She fell over her edging in the garden, slammed her face into the crazy paving and also broke her wrist... so she finally left the hospital at 6.00am this morning.. with a smashed chin, broken nose and in a lot of pain. She is getting on in years, but boy she is a capable lady... She brought up her kids virtually on her own as her husband was a drinker and gambler... she was an emergency carer for battered babies and, instead of looking after the little ones for 10 days, she kept them all her life and watched them grow up with her own children ... They have all turned out fine, and she now rushes about looking after her sick friend (not me :)) and goes and sees her senile sister, who lives miles away... She does a lot for the community and she will soon be eighty !!!

She is lovely.. she brings added value and joy to my life.. Her stories are hilarious and true.. The few times I get the car, I go and pick her up, put the roof down and go a run up the coast... (as long as there is a round-a-bout for me to turn the car, she's fine!)

I don't for one minute believe that you will not be extremely happy and loved again.. It might not be the same as you have experienced, but that's gone so the next time might be even better !!!!

So I'll end this now before the cat walks again over the laptop and remember that you friend up north is thinking about you ...

Hi Joanne, and welcome ... I ramble a lot about anything so you'll have the pleasure of reading my posts !!!

    Take care everyone...

PS To Theatregirl, I wish I could eat what you eat and get away with it... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I just have to look at a slice of bread the wrong way and I put on pounds... let alone anything with chocolate !!!

    Have a nice day....

Aw thank you OG...ooh I do feel for your friend, faces and crazy paving DO NOT mix (I know, I've tried it!) You're right...there's always someone worse off :( I too brought my kids up on my own, after my hubby (who was very nice :)) died when they were very small...I thought this last relationship was finally "my" time, after years alone, and now the kids are grown up. But not to be, and the wallowings over...he was a lying b.....d, and I'm better off without him...shame, when he was nice, he was very very nice...

Off to do a duty visit to aunt, wish me luck...she one of these ladies with an opinion on everything about you, and not always good...
