    morning ladies :)
sorry a few of us seem to be struggling at the moment. It's finally the end of january, and the lighter nights will start soon, so keep up the good work everyone!

TheGoose - a spirit + diet mixer is a good lower calorie option, eg diet coke/tonic. I like vodka, lime and soda too. Otherwise, maybe try halves instead of pints, or alternate pints of beer/water/diet coke.

lauzt - I do that too :o I try really hard not to, but it's something I haven't managed to beat yet. Triggers for me are being bored, frustrated or upset, and I only do it when I'm alone in the house :(

    today's meals:
    Breakfast: fruit corner
Lunch: RF cheese sandwich on WM bread, apple
    Dinner: undecided

Need to go to tesco, we've run out of most fruit/veg, and sandwich fillings other than cheese and corned beef (yuk).

Welcome jay , you'll get all the support here, keep coming back and posting every day

Lauzt don't beat yourself up! Everyone slips from time to time, just draw a line under it and start afresh. I had a hunk of lemon drizzle last night, so I know I have to work a bit harder today :)

    B - F&F ss milk
D - chilli chicken, mini naan
    T - hm soup, 2 rice cakes spread w/yogurt
Snacks - melon, satsuma, pear, apple
    Exercise 1 hour exercise class

Enjoy your day, stay warm :)

    Welcome JayII :)

Morning. I don't know how you all feel about this but I have just called the doctors to make an appointment to talk about weightloss help. I know I am 'doing something about it' but I don't really know what I am doing and I want this to be a long term weightloss not just 'I ate really well for 6 months and lost my weight' I want to learn for real so I can make informed choices, educate myself about eating for health and not just opting for Cadbury's options Hot Choc instead dunking biscuits in my tea.

I'm worried that I'm picking up short cuts and being too obsessed with calories and not about the health factor.

I hope you don't think I'm draining NHS resources... I've a BMI of over 30 and in the obese category.
  • Thanks for the support everyone. I just get so guilty because you all seem to have so much willpower and I get angry at myself for not having that. I will try to draw a line under it and try harder today.

Oh I made a fabulous smoothie last night for breakfast today. 2 bananas, a handful of frozen raspberries, squirt of honey, few large spoonfulls of low fat yogurt and some semi skimmed milk. So much nicer than the smoothies I've been buying and takes literally a minute to make in the blender. This will do my two days. Will definitely be doing this from now on instead of spending a fortune buying shop bought!

Thank you ladies, I need all the support I can get. :)

Well done everyone so far, there are some fab weight losses posted.

Lauzt, I'm another binger. It's really hard to walk away from the food sometimes. :(

sparrer, you have a lovely day too. :)

fuddle, my BMI is well over 30 and I've talked to the doctor about it a couple of times. :o It's a medical condition and that's what the NHS is there for. Good luck.

I am going to take what I can get as it may be the last loss for a while as I have given up smoking and haven't had a cigarette since Friday afternoon (pause for applaud).

    :T

I stopped just about this time last year and still keep my hand in the stop smoking thread. I think you're right to resign yourself to doing whatever it takes to keep off the fags and if that means gaining a few pounds, then so be it. That's why I am here on the weight loss thread this year. :rotfl:Lack of exercise going outside 10 times a day for a smoke, along with extra snacks, crackers, biscuits, crisps and Haribo soon stacked up to be 12 pounds weight gain. But hey ho, I stopped smoking and I feel I am now ready to deal with the fitness and lose the extra pounds.

I did another C25k session today (just walked the running bits though) found myself a good flat space around the carparks at the mall where I could walk in a circular route between parking the car and going to the shop.

    B. Muesli & greek yoghurt (tried to reduce to lite yoghurt today; was horrid hence need for shopping trip tonight for something better :D )
    L. Boiled egg, few remains of boiled bacon and salad.
    D. Feta and spinach quiche*, baked beans and few oven chips.
Snacks: Five dried apricots and a nectarine.

    * Bad news and doesn't bode well for tomorrow, as the quiche was quite calorie heavy and leftovers will be on the lunch menu.

I think we all go there sometimes, standing by the fridge or the larder looking for the next thing to scoff. I do it even after having had a big meal and would hate for anyone to see me either, but just can't help needing to eat that something else extra and then something else and something else. I have started taking a multivitamin because I think sometimes those insatiable cravings are our bodies just crying out for something lacking. That's my excuse anyway!!

Fuddle talking to the doctor is a really good idea. I'm sure she/ he will be delighted that you're raising the subject with them. Perhaps they will be able to refer you to a dietician for expert advice. Hope you get some good ideas that you can share with us all.

As for NHS resources - being proactive about your health will save resources in the long run - that's what the health service is for. Good luck with your appointment.

JayII - welcome:) The more of us the merrier.

No, we're all the same really - eat healthily, then overeat unhealthily. I've been good for 4 weeks, then had a bottle of wine over the weekend and a tub of HD ice cream. I have to say both were delicious and I could easily have had double or triple...:rotfl:

As someone else has mentioned, try to work out your triggers and avoid them. Also, I now no longer have ice cream in the freezer so can't eat any even if I want to (and I do want to!). Still have some wine in though...but once it's gone, I really do intend not to buy any more until Easter, then can have some wine as a nice treat then.

My triggers this weekend (well Sunday really) were feeling a little low about work, cosy fire and working out how to sort my laptop security/broadband, meant that I was sitting still and had time to eat, too...keeping busy by walking approx 10 miles on Saturday stopped me overeating.

So, in summary, and to get to the point (yes, please get to the point I hear you all say :D) I'm seeing a pattern in my behaviour - if I'm busy I don't need to eat, if I'm sitting down (busy or not), food finds its way to my mouth....:(
