I see I was going to have us in perpetual darkness.. At least you got it right... clocks forward and not back...

it was my beloved's birthday last night and we went out of a steak meal with wine and dessert etc, which I don't feel guilty about as it was a one off thing and I was happy enough not to spoil his birthday so I pretended to really love eating the apple & raspberry crumble with hot custard  and rather than choke on anything I was eating... as you have to be careful these days, I decided to wash it down with a couple of large glasses of red wine...

The way I remember it it is Spring forward, Fall back :)

The things we do for love, eh? What a noble and selfless act, I admire you ;)

There's a chap who lives in a residential home and goes to my fellowship, he misses home cooking so I promised I'd make him some scones which I did this afternoon. The mixture made nine but you can't give an odd number, can you? So I put six aside for him and three in the fridge til I decide what to do with them. I'll decide what to do with the remaining two tomorrow

officeguru, you crack me up...that was really good of you making sure your OH enjoyed his birthday meal, and much safer to have a few glasses of wine :rotfl:

We're having lettuce soup tonight, it's yummy, thank you for the recipe. My eldest (grown up!) is a bit veg-phobic, so I blended it and didn't tell him there was lettuce in it until he'd eaten it and enjoyed it...you should have seen his face "lettuce? in SOUP?" :rotfl:

    Hi Ellie

So pleased the soup went down well... If you haven't made it yet... he would never guess the cauliflower soup either..

It's amazing what you do for love.... It's so rewarding... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: It's also quite common for a scone to disintegrate so much in the cold conditions of a fridge that there is nothing left... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway, glad to see everyone is fine this morning... I've nothing special to report except that I have cleaned the upstairs windows until the Karcher battery run out... I've stripped the bed and now have the sheets etc hanging on the line.. and i have lugged a chair out of the basement and I am now sitting outside enjoying the sunshine with the computer on my lap trying to see what I am typing... :):):)

Tonight, nothing special except that I am trying to use up my 10 yr store of food.... So today, it is beef strips in the slow cooker with some far eastern jar of sauce with added coconut milk... which I have made up from the powder (another impulse buy !!!) I'll eat very little of it as it is spicy and not conducive to my well being... and I'll serve his master up rice with it....

Take care all of you and remember it's weigh-in day tomorrow !!!
  • I will probably be weighing in Saturday morning if thats ok, tomorrow will be a lie in for me and I have to be up earlyish on Saturday anyway. Otherwise I'll be weighing in midday time Friday and thats probably not good. LOL

I was rather naughty last night and added a few spoonfuls of chocolate sauce to the strawberries, but it was dark chocolate so thats good right? Otherwise everything else was the same as posted.

    Meal forecast for today:
b- cheese on brown toast, cup of tea with sweetener, and 3 caramelised biscuits
l (about 2.30pm) - cheese and ham filled tortellini, mini bottle of fanta
d (about 11pm after work) - meatball ready meal thingy. think its supposed to be a side dish of some kind but the meatballs are massive!
s- l/f rhubarb yoghurt, might have some fruit later too

e - taken out the bins this morning, did dishes and general tidy round. off to work later so trains & buses and a bit of walking :)

So you have experience of that too? Oddly enough there were two there earlier, I just went to check on them and there's only one there now! I think I've been invaded by the scone spirit

B - spicy fruity porridge, sk milk
D - cauli cheese made with sk milk, rf cheese, one Cumberland sausage
s - cuppa and scone with rf spread :o
T - hm leek & potato soup, 1/2 slice eggy bread using up egg & milk wash from scones
    S - melon, satsuma, nana
E - none, feeling quite trembly (psychological maybe) but enjoying watching the line of washing blowing in the wind and sun. Cleared & tidied pet food cupboard, found some treats that had been pushed to the back. Result one happy dog, two happy cats.

Hope you have the sunshine we have here :)

Hi all :) hope everyone is doing well - I completely identify with the disappearing scone phenomenon, I am certain it would happen in my house too!

In fact, I have a magical disappearing fruit cake.... OOPS. I was trying to make the top tier of my wedding cake yesterday but I took it out of the tin too early and it fell apart a bit. So...it couldn't go to waste so I put [STRIKE]what I didn't eat[/STRIKE] I mean, all of it of course :o into the freezer....but even after that, on getting home from work today a little bit magically jumped out of the freezer, into the microwave on defrost and somehow, inexplicably, into my mouth! I can only conclude it is a relative of the scones... It is damn yummy fruit cake though.

    So, today....

B - Rice Krispies and soya milk, tea
    S - apple
L - chicken and vegetable soup, tea, small piece of fruit cake
D - will be pork chop in honey and mustard, a baked sweet potato, and leeks, broccoli, runner beans and carrots

I am going to go on the treadmill as soon as I have picked OH up from the station.

I am really not very optimistic for tomorrow :( I actually have a sneaky suspicion I may have even gained a lb :( but we'll see....

    :)

I am puzzled as to what are caramelised biscuits ???? The only caramelised biscuits I can think of are Tunnocks Caramel Wafers... and I can't see you eating 3 of them along with the cheese on brown toast... I mean the cheese on toast would be too too much..... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

That was a good answer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: You are obviously feeling a lot cheerier but so are the sparrows in my garden.

I didn't know there was a scone spirit...

Hope you have the sunshine we have here :)

I have just dragged myself in from the cold... The sun has gone behind lots of clouds so it's freezing again.... :(

Officeguru - WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW what caramelised biscuits are! They sound absolutely lovely, and the less lovely things like that we know about, the better:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
