Not a good morning at all, just back from the surgery where I had an MoT which they're now offering to ladies over a certain age. The nurse made me shorter than I thought (4 feet 11 1/2", now 4 feet 11". Weight 9st 9lb :eek::eek:. My scales tell me 9st 3lb, surely my clothes can't weigh 6lb? BP way, way too high, when it's been on the low side of normal all my life. The only thing that our calc's make the same is BMI of 26. I know I have to get that to 25 or less. Have to wait a week for results of blood test (cholesterol etc). So all in all feeling very low when I'm not the depressed type, never have been - no wonder I don't go to the surgery unless I really, really have to!!!
Hi Sparrer
It was so cold today, my clothes could have weighed a lot more than 6 lbs.. I take it you will carry on weighing yourself on your own scales as they are the ones that register your weight loss etc.. I'm also sorry to read that you are going through the wars but I need you to get out of your depression as I look forward to reading your posts... and also we have only another 4 weeks to go before the clocks go back and things will be lighter and brighter .. :j:j:j0 -
Would love a oil spray but they don't sell them over here.
Low fat is not really in their vocabulary. Most things are traditionally fried in lard. Most of them seem to still be really skinny though so they must be doing something right.
I think snacking is ok if you are snacking on good things. Caramelised biscuits sound very good, if a little naughty.
Hi emmaneni
I was able to pick up a spray thingy at Costco... They came in packs of two.. You half fill the container with olive oil and then pump the plunger about 10 times and it then can be used as an aerosol spray... :A
I also bought an oil spray from somewhere as I have it on my shelf... I also bought an egg spray for pastry (that was useless - so it got chucked) and I think I bought them on the internet...
I am assuming you live in the uk....0 -

Theyre not bad, they were special offer for 99p in our T's and I had a 20p coupon

In any case I have yoghurt and strawberries in the fridge, will try and eat some of those tomorrow lol.
I'm living and working in Hungary at the moment. but moving back to the UK at the end of June. This is another reason that I want to concentrate on healthy eating/ lose weight. I know the coming months will be very stressful and want to avoid comfort eating. I also want to start the next stage of my life at my best. Finally, I have so much stuff after 3.5 years here, it would be nice to leave a lot of 'fat' clothes behind.
Oooo strawberries, you lucky thing. Gobble them up now, I would!0 -

Thank you so much officeguru. I know it's silly to let myself get down about what I was told and my logical head says of course winter clothes weigh more than what I usually wear (birthday suit
) to weigh. I will indeed carry on with my own scales in the same place as always. Re losing height, I know people do when they get older and 1/2" isn't really much in the great scheme of things - I can increase that with my 3" heels
. As for the rocketing BP I wouldn't be surprised if the meds/inhalers/nebuliser I use have something to do with that. When the blood tests come back I'm going to make another appt to see the GP and ask if he'll go through them all and eliminate what he feels isn't absolutely necessary. For instance I have to take one to counteract the possibility of stomach bleed caused by another, essential one! There must be one that doesn't do any damage.
The thought of clocks going forward certainly lifts my mood, I just don't like dark mornings/nights or the cold because I can't go out in it, I want to get my hands dirty planting and growing again. I really miss my garden.
I have much to be thankful for, spending Mothering Sunday with DD for the first time since she was about 20 this year (she's 40 now!), 21y/o DGD wants to come for lunch next Weds, weekends away with friends to look forward to.. So why did this shake me so much when I already have a chronic illness?!!! How stupid of me.
It'll be fine, it's just something simple that will right itself, no doubt. Thank you again for your kindness, this sparrer will be her chirpy ol' self in no time, with thoughtful people like you about it's a cheerful place to come to and really one of my daily pleasures to be here

Hi Sparrer,
I see I was going to have us in perpetual darkness.. At least you got it right... clocks forward and not back...
Well, it's an absolute cracking day today but I decided that I wasn't going to work in the garden as it is still a bit soon... I don't want to encourage any young growth at this time to get ruined by the frost in a few weeks time... Anyway, today was brown bin day (which is food and garden waste) well, my beloved (who I have tried to train for the last almost 40 years) had managed to put plastic at the bottom  which I couldn't reach..and I couldn't turn the bin upside down as all my fire ash was in it... so quess what ???? I had to do some gardening..so that I could hide the 2 tiny plastic bags at the bottom...
It lifted my soul being out in the garden with the secateurs ... clipping this and that and clearing out enough dead stuff so that the dreaded bin police emptied my bin.. :j:j:j:j:j
Here's hoping that tomorrow is another day like today as I am going out again into the garden and start blowing away the winter cobwebs... even if it is to get rid of the moss between the flagstones... I might even remember to spray my roses early enough this year so that they are free from black spot for the first time... :T:T Anyway, enough of this or Dragon will be shifting my post to the garden section of the forum... but I think it is easier to stay on track if your mood is lifted.. Plus it gets you out of the kitchen and away from the biscuits and time passes before you eat again... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Today, I was weighed by the wii for the Biggest Loser and I have stayed the same... I might have actually lost weight as it was my beloved's birthday last night and we went out of a steak meal with wine and dessert etc, which I don't feel guilty about as it was a one off thing and I was happy enough not to spoil his birthday so I pretended to really love eating the apple & raspberry crumble with hot custard  and rather than choke on anything I was eating... as you have to be careful these days, I decided to wash it down with a couple of large glasses of red wine... :j:j:j of course, I was really diet conscious so I made sure it was a dry red and not a sweet red.... but back to normal today.... :A
1 large pot of home made ham soup...
1 rolled lamb breast with gravy and red currant jelly in the slow cooker, which I'll serve with mashed potatoes....
Have a great day, everyone....0 -
officeguru, you crack me up...that was really good of you making sure your OH enjoyed his birthday meal, and much safer to have a few glasses of wine :rotfl:
We're having lettuce soup tonight, it's yummy, thank you for the recipe. My eldest (grown up!) is a bit veg-phobic, so I blended it and didn't tell him there was lettuce in it until he'd eaten it and enjoyed it...you should have seen his face "lettuce? in SOUP?" :rotfl:
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Naughty day today... oops. I would give the excuse of it being a long day, with lots of free periods which are dangerous. But that is just making excuses so I will hold my hands up and admit to my mistakes.
B. 1 piece of biscotti (present) and 12 cherry tomatoes
L. 3 parsnip pancakes and cucumber salad.
D. Bowl of carrot and dill soup with a spoon of natural yoghurt
S. A sugar free prune yoghurt, 2 small squares of nut and raisin milka, 1.5 big squares of dark chocolate with apricot pieces, 2 milka crispies.
The staff room has been full of chocolate for the last 2 days, I resisted yesterday! :A
E. c25k, week 5, run 2
Oh and I was very good when I got home, I didn't slob on the sofa. I scrubbed all the floors and bathroom for 2 hours.
Have a terrific Thursday everyone.0
