T - Chicken breast, chopped with steamed stir fry veggies, onion, all mixed with a handful of rice and a spoonful of lf philly . a squirt of some seet chilli sauce on top - gorgeous.

still off sick and under a mountain of used tissues and lemsip packets here so not eating much. giving myself rein to eat what I fancy when I fancy it, will hopefully be back to logging by the weekend (and given how little I've eaten since Friday am hoping for a decent loss at weigh in!)
hope everyone else is having a better week, I can't remember when I was last this ill :(

    Morning all

I came up with a nice invention last night which might be of interest to someone on here: I had veg stew, which I usually like to top with dumplings or scone cobbles, but I'm aware that neither are exactly healthy. So, inspired by a recipe on the BBC Good Food site, I made a cheesy muffin topping: SR flour (I used 60g for a one person portion and it was more than ample - I think I'll use 50g or less next time), a small amount of RF cheese, dried herbs and seasoning, a weeny splash of oil, and enough milk to make a mix soft enough to spoon on top of the cooked stew. That went back in to the oven for 20 minutes or so until golden, and the result was lovely - light and fluffy, and not particularly unhealthy. :)
I think I've been doing ok for the past couple of days, but met a friend in town for lunch today - decided on the Express Lunch which is Soup & Sandwich - only to find the French Onion Soup had this HUGE crouton floating on top, except it was not a crouton but a deep fried mini ham and cheese sandwich  (Crock Monsieur is that what they call them) . So that along with the Kett!e type crisps also on the plate has scuppered my plans for being :A

That sounds delicious - I wonder if I can think of a healthier way of making that, as it sounds like something I must try.

    Today for me goes:

B - porridge with a handful of dried fruit and nut mix
L - cambazola (blue brie) and cucumber roll (I like cambazola as it's strongly flavoured so you don't need much for a tasty sandwich); mug of minestrone soup
    S - apple; 2 kiwi fruit
D - cheese and ham quiche (RM, not HM, but RTC to 50p which made it a bargain I couldn't ignore) with HM chilli beans (kidney beans, chopped red pepper and tomatoes, with a pinch of spice mix)

Exercise - a walk at lunchtime, as usual

LittleMoog - get well soon! Being ill may help weightloss, but it's pretty miserable to be so unwell.
Back after a very long break!

    B - F&F, ss milk
D - turkey & veg casserole ff jelly
Supper, as out at tea time - 3 ricecakes/yogurt, vegemite, rf philly, marmalade (a sniff of, don't like it thickly spread. Just as well ;))
Snacks - fruit when I've been to Sainsbugs
Exercise - changed bed, cleaned all through, wiped everything down with zoflora solution as DD's dog goes home today, mine comes back

Need2bthrifty croque Monsieur is delicious, as is croque Madame wich is the same but with a fried egg on top. Made with WW/Danish or similar, no butter, and rf cheese it's a filling and not too calorific/fatty lunch/tea dish. In fact thanks for reminding me of them, might just have one for lunch tomorrow :)

Wishing you well now poorlies, will say a quick one for you

    S :)
  • Had a great few days. brought my own stuff in from home to work and not been tempted by all the offers that surround me there. I've had the odd cup of coffee and a bottle of coke but apart from that not spent anything either.

I feel much better even in these few days even though not much will have been lost. I plan to carry on eating well and hopefully the pounds will drop off me. Having a weigh-in on Friday to see how I'm getting on.

  • Oh dear I seem to have fallen off the wagon a bit since the weekend. We went away to my mum and dad's and although we did lots of walking I think I could have made some much healthier choices than I did  we got back late on Sunday with no food in and so ordered take away. Didn't think the choice I made was too bad until I put it into MFP and the cals were about 200 more than I thought :(

Have made up a big batch of healthy soups so will hopefully be back on track now. Going for gym and swim after work tonight and hopefully tomorrow too so hopefully will have undone some of the damage by friday :o

Now on my second week back at work on a phased return and I'm struggling to cope a bit with the ease of going to the shop and snacking. People in the office are back and forwards getting bits all the time and it's been taking a lot of will power to say no to extra snacks.

It's all a bit of a shock to the system after 2 months of being off and not having anyone to tempt me with things. We just don't buy the naughty foods so when I was at home they were never on hand like they are here. Think I might start logging on and reading the posts here when I get tempted to try and distract myself from wanting more food.

Hope everyone else is doing ok, and those who have fallen off the wagon are managing to get back

Afternoon everyone and Happy Burns Day!

Was a bit bad last night and made egg fried rice with sweet and sour sauce. I could argue that it wasn't that bad as a) it wasn't from the chinese, it was homemade and b) I brought some for lunch today instead of eating the whole pan!

Don't think i'll have lost anything this week and it's our anniversary so we're going out for a meal. I haven't really eaten out since I started the new healthy eating regime and think I will find it challenging to choose the healthy options and not have wine!

    Menu for today:
Breakfast: cereal bar, small glass of smoothie
Lunch: rest of last night's rice, petit filous, some grapes
Dinner: Vegi haggis, neeps and tatties of course! (although i'm going to fill half my plate with the neeps and carotts and left OH eat most of the tatties!)
Snacks: satsumas, some dried mango if I get desperate.

Hope everyone who's poorly feels better soon xx
