Hi officeguru, it's a nebuliser wot 'elps me breeve when I've overdone it. As usual. I've got COPD so the cold exacerbates my breathing, contracting what little lung capacity I've got. Purely self inflicted, I was a smoker for many years and didn't know I'd got this til I contracted pneumonia in my left lung. However I've said before and you'll no doubt hear me say again I didn't knowingly invite it into my life so it has to live with me, not the other way round :p

My downfall is cheese so I cut it into small square and keep iot in the freezer. Trouble is it doesn't take long to defrost if it's grated :o

    Hi Everyone,

Been doing some catching up with the posts after a horrible, busy, cruddy few days.

So after a week of being exceptionally good, my 25 hour stint of marking essays (total 'carp' ones at that...grrr) meant I finally got to bed at 5am sunday night, and got up again at 8am to drop the essays of and have meetings etc over an hour away :(

Needless to say I wasn't eating lettuce til 5am, and had no time to cook, so I have to confess my sins:

    a bag of Niknaks,
2 Fruilsi bars (expensive but my good greif they are yummy),
2 bags of Frootz (again expensive kid sweeties, OH bought them in a well meaning replacement for apple rings...!),
    5 After Eights

    and my ultimate downfall....

Roasted gnocci :( I did only have 125g, and 1 tbsp of oil, but still so many Kcals.

Having said that, I don't think I would have got through without it!

And after all that, I am now on my first nightshift in the set of 8 so the usual issue of being up for 24hrs and going over my calorie limit, and the associated guiltrip from MFP when all the numbers turn red!

Forgive me Dragon, for I have sinned!!!

Being an OS follower I should know this but... does cheese turn out ok when frozen? Taste and texture wise?

I freeze pretty much everything but was never brave enough to try cheese, at the risk of wasting a tasty morsal if it didn't turn out ok! xxxx
  • harrybear, yes it's fine after freezing, like you I freeze everything.

I'm really struggling and need motivating, I've been sooo good with walking lots and eating well but have put on 2lb I n 3 days??? I'm on strong painkillers and they stuff me up. I'm desperate to lose weight to help my back. :(

    Hi Niftythrifty,

I don't know how to motivate you but last year, I hung up a pair of jeans on the outside of my wardrobe door.. I tried them on and I could barely get them past my knees... I used to slip them on every day and gradually, I was able to pull them up passed my bum and then passed my hips until they reached my waist... I still tried them on every day until I could pull up the zip and fasten the button.. and Guess What? I am wearing them while answering your post !!!

I've still got a long way to go but there is another item of clothing hanging on the front of the wardrobe door and ... yes... I am trying it on every day :)

Also, putting on 2lbs in 2 days...

There must be something you are eating that is doing that... For example, when my daughter went on a diet she was putting on weight and then I found out she was eating pate.. she thought that duck pate had the same calories as duck... and was lagering it on toast etc.. I'm not saying you are doing that, but there might be something you are eating that is doing the damage.. Then again, it might just be fluid retention ... as we women know that fluctuates all the time..

    Hope this helps :)

I have to admit to struggling at the moment. I had a huge depot injection of steroids on Monday and that always effects me. So hopefully back on track today x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

The past few days have been difficult on me. Always hungry, even with the upped calorie range. It's getting close to that time of the month, so I may skip weighing in this Friday to keep from depressing myself even more. I'll be back to it as soon as AF is finished.

harrybear taste and texture-wise cheese fine after freezing. I grate some of it for cooking before freezing (the little cubes are for treats :)), as if you freeze then grate it tends to crumble. You can grate it frozen, just takes a bit longer

nifty I agree, if it's food, it gets frozen, never thrown away :D

officeguru I buy the strongest rf I can find, can't stand soapy cheese. Wyke (in pink packet) is the best I've had yet but very popular so not always on the shelves.

    Today-
    B - spicy, fruity porridge
    D - chicken/veg rogan, couscous
T - WW wrap with vlf philly & tomato
    S - apple, satsuma, grapes
E - managed to get the cooker back into place. Having a rest day as I have to go out this evening so need conserve my energy ;).

    Stay safe and warm :)

I went for a jog with a friend last night in -8 Celcius. 30 minutes at a fast pace, must have burned around 800 calories. Sadly the cold combined with the heavy panting has hurt the back of my throat! But it was worth it.
