    Morning All,

Got up and started my wii exercising before 8.00 as I knew the guy was coming back to collect a parcel that was being returned and I was making sure that he didn't see me in my shorts and tee-shirt again... It would be too much for him, twice in one week! :rotfl:

Anyway, gave him the parcel and got down to preparing the dinner.. I had took out a loin of pork last night so I am going to use my slow cooker again today as I am actually getting out of the house for a few hours :j

As I don't get out to the supermarkets very often and my OM tends to get a loaf of bread and salted peanuts when he goes in my place, I have enough staples in the house to last me for about 6 months.. so I tend to cook using what i have rather than buying for a recipe... if that makes sense...

So today's delight will be as follows:

Slow cooked pork with apples and cider

Brown the roast in a frying pan or wok or whatever you use... and while it is browning, add

Just over 1/2 a mug of cider into the cooker - don't worry about the calories here unless you plan to drink the rest of the bottle! :rotfl:

    Roughly chopped up the following:

1 large sweet potato (ordinary potatoes would do)
    2 onions
2 apples, that are starting to go iffy... maybe a pear as well that was past it's sell-by-date...

Throw the lot into the cooker, and place the meat on top....

I like to use up bits and bobs here so I melted a little quince jelly that I had made for Christmas (but I could easily have used a little red-currant jelly) and spread it thinly over the top of the meat.. and left it to cook until tea-time.. I'll season it about an hour before it's ready, as slow-cooking tends to negate any seasoning..

Take the meat and veggies out and then add a little cornflour paste to thicken the cooking juices... and there you go ...

This recipe could easily be done in the oven over a low heat.. it's just that there is only 2 of us and I have a big cooker and I ain't going to use anymore electricity that I have to !!! :A

You could use any cut of meat here... Pork Chops, Casserole Pork or a Pork Joint ... but if you were doing it in the oven, I would add more cider..so that it didn't all evaporate.... If the juices end up being too fatty, you could soak it up with slices of bread or skim it off the top..

Well, I am off out now.... Freezing, but the sun is shining .. :j

    Hi everyone,

Just back from my weekly shift at the tearoom. Not many people out and about today as it's zero degrees, but bright sunshine here in Kent.

    Food today:

B - micro porridge, ss milk, tea
L - Warburt0ns brown square wrap, tbsp tuna/mayo, cucumber, pack of cheesy curls (90kcal)
D - red thai chicken curry with basmati rice (no naan for me!)
    S - apple, banana, 10 frozen maltesers (;))

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Hello, I'd like to join in if you'll have me :j I had my baby around a year ago and have been doing slimming world since around August. Iv lost just under 2 stone since then but my heart isn't in it anymore. We are also trying to cut our shopping bill down in preparation for saving cash for moving house some time in the next 6 months, and I find when following SW my food bill is a good bit more. I have a freezer full of SW meals to use up so will be lurking and watching from afar for a week or so and getting ideas until I can get a fresh shop in and meal plan done. I enjoy cooking from scratch and love my slow cooker so hopefully I'll fit right in :)

This is apparently what 5lbs of fat looks like outside of your body

    tumblr_lzljl5dH0Y1qbys7po1_500.png

On one hand, it is surprisingly big and nasty looking. On the other hand, it feels amazing to know that I have gotten rid of over 4 of these from my body in the past few months.

Good luck to all and congratulations GillyX on the weight loss! :T

It is a 12 or 13 week challenge to keep you on track, you decide how much weight you hope to lose in that time and check in on a Friday/Saturday and we keep a running total of how much we have lost between us (in this first week we lost over 6 stone )

    Evening

I am still lurking away and enjoy hearing what's going on. Thinking about everyone's successes (and challenges!) helps keep me on the straight and narrow!

I had a real LBM while I was huffing and puffing away at Jazzercise last night:j

Our instructor often tells us a full class will burn 600 calories. Now, I don't know how accurate that is but I realised that I was sweating through half the class just to work off the sneaky chocolate bar I ate earlier!

Now, when I fancy a snack, I translate it into a portion of the Jazzercise class and decide whether it's worthwhile!:A

10 minutes for a fudge bar? hmmmm? Not sure about that!

  • Evening all

    B - Porridge
D- Small portion of cottage pie with carrots and beetroot, apple and a pear
T - Spicy pumpkin soup, 2 slices of HM brown bread
S - Apple and low fat hot chocolate
    E - 20 Min slow walk

Still need to improve the water intake but did drink more today
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
