I can really tell that I didn't sleep well last night. Even though I don't feel like I need a nap today (like I normally do), I'm craving carbs to no end!

Hehe Mrs T M thought you said I'm craving crabs ! and thought to myself oo I could just fancy a nice crab sandwich.:rotfl:

Anyway no crab sandwich but as follows

B Porridge with a few raspberries
    L M & S Spicy Lentil soup and a few grapes
D Spanish Omlette and salad folllowed by a yoghurt
S Probably a packet of Snack a Jacks

    Walked into town 30 mins
    40 minutes swimming
No dog walking as DH took him out.

Had a sneaky peek at the scales and so far so good

Hi all,did not post yesterday as RL has been busy.

Yesterday had porridge for breakfast, HM spicy pumpkin soup, one slice of bread apple.pear for lunch and poached egg on toast for tea. Snacks were an apple and a slice of christmas cake.

    today

B - porridge made with soya milk
D - Spicy pumpkin soup with bread apple/pear
T - HM chicken and veg soup with bread
    S - Apple

Rossy2692 - I nearly always have porridge made with soya milk for breakfast. Porridge keeps me full until lunch and although my cholesterol is in the normal range it is at the higher end of normal and the soya helps with this.

MrsCD it is common to use some antid's for nerve pain and they are very effective for some people. I am on a low dose of them as a long term preventative for migraine (hence some of the weight gain) and the GP felt that this would also help with the back pain.

skintyetagain a warm bath after physio sounds great but unfortunately my physio is followed by a 20min walk to work and a sit down job.

Despite the back pain I am walking home every day which is 20 min and do the usual at work like take the stairs not the lift. I agree that any exercise no matter how little is better than none.

I am a bit concerned at people saying the their apps are saying that 2 or 3 pieces of fruit a day takes them to their sugar limit for the day. I usually have 5 pieces of fruit a day.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes. The antidepressants must have worked because I had my first good night's sleep for over a week. The effect must have carried over into today as I've slept off and on all day. I'm still getting some pain when the codeine starts to wear off, but I'm more optimistic (probably the anti-d's!!) about being able to manage the pain now.

B-muesli, soya milk, 1 spoon plain yog, honey
L- tomato soup, 2 slices wholemeal bread
D- half a M&S Feel fuller longer beef & ale pie 'meal' with extra veggies (ok but won't be buying again - just wanted to try it as it was on a special offer and DH fancied them)
S - Mars ice cream, HM low fat/sugar cranberry & apple muffin, HM ginger bisc :o
Lots of drinks. No exercise apart from going up and down stairs.

Well done on the exercise, 20 mins walk is good, but with back pain it's great

Re fruit, much better to have 5 pieces a day, which I try to, than be tempted by refined sugar products. I thought about cutting it down but decided against it as it's not done me any harm so far.

I had a look at the current popular app, it works for some which is fantastic but when I put in a couple of days meals it almost gave me a slap on the wrist :rotfl:. We all have our favourite methods, it's best to stick with what works for us individually rather than fret about theirs :)

Harrybear - I used to work a 24 hour shift plus as a community midwife. I will agree that it is very detrimental for your health as I am now medically retired:eek::eek::eek: I used to eat small amounts of good food regularly as I very often felt very sick at the end of a nightshift from tiredness. Also water is very important and dont forget to wee too!

Sorry to hear you're medically retired :(
I'm hoping one day I will get a better/ proper full time job, at the moment my night jobs have no real skill involved or promotion opportunity, hence moonlighting (sunlighting?!) in the day as a lecturer to give myself something to chew on mentally.

After what you have said I don't think I'll be beating myself up for having a banana and three crackers then :rotfl:

Thank you for your advice!! xxx
  • Here's my attempt for today:

B: Tuna pitta with light garlic cream cheese
D: Shin beef stew with oodles of veggies
Nightshift L: Ham salad with 4 slices of parma harm (out of date, oh well!)
s: 4 dried apricots, 3 dried apple rings, SF jelly with blueberries

Actually getting to the point where it's too much food for me to eat comfortably, didn't anticipate this...usually nothing gets between me and food. Slightly unnerving!

    Yesterday's food -

    B - porridge with raspberries, tea (318)
    S - 2 clementines (44)
L - tuna and sweetcorn sandwich on seeded bread (448 )
    D - hm soup and a roll (307)

    Total - 1149

Like a few others, I have been keeping a sneaky eye on the scales all week and it looks pretty hopeful. Fingers crossed for a good first weigh in for us all tomorrow! :D
