My daughter has announced that she wants to be vegetarian. Any inspired dishes that I can make for her?

what kinds of food does she like? if spicy then there are a whole raft of veggie curry recipes and of course Quorn is a great stand by for things like chilli or "mince" and onion gravy in Yorkshire puds.

Weighed my self today with DH checking! I've put on 9lbs over Christmas ! I will definitely be good this week and hopefully post a loss . I'm going to make some sugar free jellies as I have such a sweet tooth and cannot go cold turkey and completely give up sugar.
My secret fantasy is having 2 men....
    1 cooking and 1 cleaning.
  • Oh dear, bought some new scales yesterday (thought they might be more forgiving than my prehistoric ones hehe!)
DH popped onto them yesterday fully clothed and announced he was 12stone 3 lbs, he is 6feet tall and really slim but usually weighs around 12stone 7 on our old scales, so I thought maybe they would be the same for me :(
Waited till hubby had gone downstairs to put on the boiled eggs for breakfast and crept into the bathroom to step on the wondrous scales. Stood there in my birthday suit and the scales said 11stones 13lbs! So now I'm only 4 lbs less than my lovely slim hubby, I am only 5feet 5 .
Really hoping that I can lose the 10 lbs I have said I want to lose.
Good luck to everyone, loving some of the recipes but they are making me hungry.

So far today I have been saintly due to the shock on the scales this morning.
B Boiled egg, 2 small slices of wholemeal toast
L Tomato soup, 1 small slice wholoemeal bread.
D wil be HM ratatouille followed by some fresh pineapple.
S maybe a packet of snack a jacks

Hopefully will stick to this now I have put it in writing :rotfl:

Afternoon been busy de-Christmassing the house.
    Start: 11 stone 6
Aim to lose: 6lb (I know I said 3lb to begin with but to seems like a little to little really)

Yesterday was a disaster the half packet of soup at work for lunch had been thrown away by someone so bought a salad from MrT which I thought said 300cals when I initially read the lid but upon closer inspection said 300 cals per half portion. I mean REALLY.????? Who sells a salad in a bowl clearly for lunch I.e. one person then gives 50% of the info on the lid. Was a nice salad.

The dinner had veg curry but there was a bit of chicken sag left so had that too, net result munched too much

Bit confused with the MFP way of calculating iron as apparently nuts don't have iron in them except ceiling various other sources they do! Wanted to track iron and sugar in particular as feeling quite tired thought its either too much sugar, too little iron or feasibly both. Anyone like to share to share any know how about iron and nuts?

Huge batch of fruity flapjack just cooling for snacks next week and spicy tomato on the go too for lunches.

  • Hello all. PLEASE can I join?

I want to lose 14 pounds

This challenge is great for meas iwant to get back to healthy cooking and save money st the same time. Plus i go away for easter and want to be able to fit in last years summer clothes.

Sorry for the terrible typing, on my ace new tablet and not yet worked out what i am doing.
  • Hi!
What an inspiring thread! I've been lurking for a while around here, but decided to join in (if I may so). This Christmas was particularly nice for me (due to getting my PhD on the 14th of December :j), but inevitably starting the Christmas "routine" that early led to piling on pounds by the time it was nearly over! :money:
I would like to loose about 10lb, 1lb/week over the next 10 weeks. Self-discipline is required....:(

will go bit by bit through all the advise here again, a lot of good stuff in this thread :p
Probably the important thing for me to "report" the progress somewhere as it gives targets to achieve :):):)

    Hi please could I join.

I currently weigh 11 stone and this has been static through out 2012 so at least it hasn't gone up.

Over all I would like to get down to 9 stone but due to both mobility and metabolism issues loosing weight is a struggle and the fact I'm a lazy mare who enjoys her food :rotfl: for the challenge I'm aiming to loose 4 pound.

    Start weight 11 Stone
    aim to loose 4 lb

Is there a list of challengers and their aims? if so please could some one direct me to it, thanks

    Me too!!! Thank you:T:T:T

Well done on the PhD Suffolk! I did mine donkey's years ago now and still remember the feeling of complete relief it was over ! No more writing up, no more editing, no more panics!

Its a lovely day here (for a change) so I've taken the dog to the water park for a good hour long walk - had to bath him afterwards though:eek:
Feeling quite a bit flatter today so the hard work is starting to pay off - might go for a little run later if I get enough school work done - back to work on Monday......
