My tactic which worked last time was " think before it goes in my gob"

If I get hungry having another glass of squash (I hate water)

Well I'm officially back on the wagon! Good luck everyone!!!!!

Like your philosophy! Think before it goes in my gob:rotfl:
I'm another one that hates water too - I must drink 4 pints of squash a day.

Just back from taking the dog for a 25 min walk and then I went for a 6km run - pooped now!:A (and starving!)

    Good Morning

I am back I popped in sometime last year but dropped out after a few days. This time I hope it will be easier my husband has decided he wants to lose weight too which helps.

We started on the 1st and I am weighing in at 171 lb and I'm 5'5 I'd my end goal is to weigh around 140 lb and have a toned look.

Up until September I was going to the gym 4 times a week 2 to 3 hours a day but now I am back at uni I need to study and my timetable doesn't allow me to get to the classes I like. So I have been using an exercise bike at home since the 1st for 30 mins a day.
And I am back at the gym Monday trying a new class circuits (I hope I'm fit enough!)

So here goes can you put me down for 6lb in 12 weeks as I do a lot of weights I'm not sure I'll be losing weight to fast.

Todays food will look something like this
B: Lean bacon, sliced boiled egg, 1/2 tin baked beans, slice granary bread, mushrooms, small tomatoes
L: Salad (with no dressing, luckily I can't stand it) with one slice value ham :/
D: Jacket potato with tuna and salad
    S: apple, carrots

Also I'm on my fitness pal - jaxjax123 join me if you like :)

Wow, forgot how filling mushrooms were. Had some cooked in a frying pan with a bit of water instead of oil and sprinkled them with creole seasoning. Very good! Had one fish cake and green beans leftover from last night as well for lunch. Two great things about the creole seasoning, it tastes good and it's spicy (for me) so it makes me drink loads more water. It also makes my nose run a bit, so probably good for clearing out the sinuses as well! :rotfl:

Thanks Mrs TM they sound delicious! I know I would eat all of them in one go though, maybe if I froze them I would be Ok? think I'm going to have to hold off until I'm much more in the habit of not gorging myself (bread products are my absolute downfall- I oculd eat loaves and loaves of bread in one sitting)

    Morning everyone.
Weighed myself this morning, ooooohhhh deeeaarrr!!! Back to my heaviest ever weight, I think this is the third time I've lost it all and then gone back up :(
This will be the hardest time yet, cos my back hurts too much to really exercise, only short strolls at the moment. I'm VERY impressed with some of your exercising, well done!
So starting today, no more xmas goodies, and as camNolliesMUMMY said - I will think before I put it in my gob!

Like you, Ellie99, I am up to my heaviest weight. Just calculated my BMI - 60.78 - and figure that enough is enough.

I haven't got the money to do WW, SW, RC or any of the other pay-as-you-weigh diets any more, so I'm going OS for my (permanent) weight loss solution.

    My mini January challenge:

Step one - up the exercise. My job involves lots of sitting down and talking to people, and when I get home I pretty much hit the sofa and stay there. On the plus side, we have a new puppy who will definitely benefit from me looking to do more walking.
Step two - drink water. Although I rarely drink alcohol and take my tea/coffee without sugar, I tend to add a lot of milk. Also, I drink far too much fizzy pop.
Step three - aim for three meals a day. Breakfast is very hit and miss, depending on how much of a rush I'm in trying to get out of the house in the morning, and lunch often doesn't happen either if I'm busy at work.

If I can make those changes stick for a month I'll look to see what else needs to be changed.

    Morning all,

I think that I am generally going to have to weigh in on a Saturday - I hope that isn't a problem for the challenge. We don't have scales so I weigh myself on the Wii Fit but the Wii is in the playroom and during the week I can't get in there before the kids have the floor covered in toys. On a Saturday morning DH distracts them for a bit so I can clear a space and weigh myself.

Hermyam - I love the idea of a mini January challenge, it's nice to take some little steps. I'm going to aim to
    1. cut out the fizzy drinks - they are too expensive and I'm sure all the sugar/sweeteners mess with my appetite and energy levels
    2. do something active every day even if it's just a walk - I do lots of walking and cycling with the kids but at the toddlers pace so I'm not counting that.
    3. start meal planning

Well what can I say - the scales appeared to have gained 5 pounds .... and I was actually thinking it was water retention from the operation - it may be water retention from totm but I won't class it as that for the moment!

WelshWoofer - Can I ask how often you run 5k?

Sparrer - Can I ask you for the recipe for Spicy Porridge .... I would like to improve the bland taste and I am thinking cinnamon rather than golden syrup :)

The Dragon - Please can you put me down for 25lbs (10%) ... I am also aiming for 2lb per week.

I have signed up for daily notifications so that was a good catch up at work this morning.

Things are looking bleak this morning (well the last 2 weeks haven't been good either) I am hoping that now I am back at work I can manage to get myself into a routine with the healthy eating and fitness ... I also refuse to look at this learning curve as a diet as I am making these changes for life for me and my family.

I made a rough meal plan for next week based loosely on my calorie allowance by MFP, I just need to go shopping now for fruit and veg.

I also have a lot of weight to lose ... my initial target is 10% which I am hoping with the change of diet and introduction to exercise again I can lose this in the time frame :)

My 2013 aims are 43 lb and be able to run 10k by my holiday at the end of May. I would like to be down to my first weight of 12 stone by the end of the year, which means I have a total of 85lbs to lose if possible .... I have had too many health scares that are caused by my weight and I don't want my weight to become more of a problem in 2013.

Thank you for the next challenge - I am hoping I can get off to a good start this week. I am allowed back to the gym Sunday for some cardio (no weights until 2 weeks time).

    Good luck everyone.

    Good luck everyone.

I used to go 3 times a week then slacked off in December and started again properly on Xmas Day (I know! Was escaping family for half an hour!). Since then I've been every other day or so (sometimes more) but I'm not back in work yet. When I am back (on Monday) I'll try to run 3 times a week.
I have my first 10km on March 3rd so am building up the distance slowly - did 6k today. I'm not fast - I just keep going at a single pace, no sprint training for me. I'm a bit more of a "point and go" runner!:)

MW wish I could blame totm but I went past that period ;) of my life years ago

Re spicy fruity porridge, I add either ground cinnamon or allspice depending which I have most of, and about half a cup of raisins, although any dried fruit will do. Chipped apricots are nice.

I make up enough for 5 or 6 days with boiling water from kettle, and either refrigerate or freeze in individual portions. Two cups of porridge and 5 of water is enough for a week, approx 6 oz in each marg tub. They can go in the freezer and mw and as I'm really lazy, it saves washing up! It does thicken on cooling so I add a little splash of sk milk at the end.
