Just a quick one to report all necessary beautifying done before the holiday tomorrow - defuzzed, scrubbed, nails filed, toe nails painted, all packed and ready to go.
I'll probably have a quick check in with you if I'm online at any point but, if not, have a great week and think of me being pampered in a spa in the sun:rotfl: (and probably getting fat again, although I plan to be semi-good).
No slacking whilst I'm away ladies!;) Bon voyage! See you on the weekend.0 -

WW that reminds me of an ad, can't remember what it's for, where a girl does much the same then appears in a teeny weeny bikini to find her flat-mates mother and grandmother(?) in the sitting room. The grandmother says, much to mother's horror, 'You look very tidy, dear'! :rotfl:
Have a very tidy holiday

The problem is, is that there are some meals that I just dont know how to calorie count such as when I do lasagne, cottage pie, toad in the hole etc. I dont want to eat seperate from the family or have to cook a seperate meal. I have access to a site where you type your recipe in and it works out the calories but dosent work with all. for example a stew, easy to enter ing and just do the same serving spoons for each plate, but a cottage pie with hm mash, bulked out with lentils, then the mince and getting the portion right just dosent work. I make my own bread - how on earth do I work that out
so confused on how to do this and keep my g budget
Is it possible to calorie count os cooking from scratch whilst eating the meals the rest of the family have?
Any help would be appreciated.
Hi jasmin
How important is it to you that you calorie count everything? How about just replacing more calorific foods (mash, mince) with more veg (like carrots, onions, squashes, etc.) or pulses to bulk them out, so you know you are eating healthier without having to worry about serving your family something different or count every calorie?
As for the budget, yes it can be such a nightmare trying to eat healthily and cleanly with less money. I just stock up on offers when I can, e.g. at Lidl, I bulk buy the veg when it's on offer then chop and freeze it. Or I buy more frozen veg as it's just as nutritious but cheaper. I've also started to veer to a more vegetarian diet - not for moral reasons, but for financial reasons, and the fact that I find cutting out meat helps with my digestion. Beans and pulses are incredibly cheap and nutritious, and can easily substitute meat in loads of classic dishes.
Hope I have helped a little.0 -
I bought 'fish pie' fish reduced in a$da last night. I have never made fish pie:cool: ( in my defence we are not big fish eaters)
I have also bought the 1% fat milk too,
plus i have bought the supermarket own make extra low onion and chive soft cheese, ( to mix into the mash)
so do you think this would be weight loss friendly?
was thinking of serving this with either peas or brocoli..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Evening All
It's been lovely weather here again today and I've had a lazy afternoon on the patio with a book.I had work this morning for a couple of hours and then went out for lunch with the family so a very nice day. I am now trying to resist DH's wonderful soft white rolls that have just come out of the oven - new recipe.
CoolTrikerChick - sorry no idea about your fish pie as I tend to lavish butter and cream into my dishes and avoid the carbs as it suits me much better.
B: Omelette with red onion, garlic, courgette and cheese.
L: (Eating out) Spanish chicken (had tomatoes and peppers in it but not sure what else) with cabbage, carrots and peas. I shared it with DGD who loved it.Grilled aubergine topped with HM red onion marmalade and cheese and served with mixed leaf salad, tiny onions, mixed seeds and red pepper and balsamic dressing. Lemony Greek yoghurt.
Snack: 20g of dark chocolate. Tiny piece of DH's bread with butter.
Exercise: About 2 miles of walking. I had to miss my Pilates today because of working and probably won't get a longer walk later either as my dog walking friend has her grandchildren staying.

How is it only Tue today? Writing it down today, this looks like exactly what I was eating before I started on the diet, I generally maintained my weight on this, so hopefully it won't now make me gain:
B: toast with jam
L: Bagel with cream cheese and salami, nectarine, 10 dried apricotsChicken tikka slice, 2 new pots, broccoli and 6 mushrooms
S: grapes, small chocolate nibble
Think the only difference between this and before is that it's reduced sugar jam and extra LF Cream Cheese.0 -
Rosewood - can I have your DH's secret recipe please? I have never made soft rolls, tried many times though... (I can't have sneaky slices of rolls either so they may make it to the lunch boxes!)
I am plodding along, not doing great as the house is full of junk left over from DS's party and I feel compelled to eat it to get it out of the way!
Not done any exercise in ages - by the time I get a chance (about 8pm if I am lucky) I am knackered already. Only 3 weeks of summer hols to go though..
My birthday Saturday (27, eek, getting close to 30!) and I had hoped at the start of the year to be at my goal weight by now, which is rather annoying but I only have myself to blame. Will try not to celebrate with food!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500
