A far better day for me today, its a steep learning curve learning about portion sizes and better choices. I joined MFP yesterday and logged all of this weeks eating so far.
Although in my mind I have been good and eaten what for me was all reasonably healthy, I was way over for Monday and Tuesday because of not really knowing how much was too much. It will I am sure get easier as I get some regular things down pat and start to build up a repertoire of healthier options. I was at least able to plan my dinner around the calories I had available and left a few spare in case I got the munchies later.
B. Yoghurt and muesli, plus handful of grapes
L. Pasta salad with grated cheese and a banana
D. 2 egg omlette, grilled tomatoes and two slices grainy bread
Snacks; handful of almonds, dried apricots
Went for half an hour 'powerish' walk in my lunch break, with Week One of C2K on my i-pod for a bit of added pace. I just walked the running bits as I was in my normal work clothes and shoes.Mortgage

Hi everyone,
Haven’t dared step on the scales yet, it may be my imagination but I do feel a bit lighter so that’s encouraging. Yesterday I had
B – Toast with Ham and grilled tomato
L – HM Scotch Broth, grapes
D – Beef casserole, steamed broccoli & green beans
Snacks = 1 x Orange, 2 water biscs with stilton.
I am beginning to run out of portions of soup in the freezer so am making a large batch of Mung Bean soup, haven’t tried it before but it smells delish.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

quinoa (pronounced 'keen-wa'' is a lot like cous cous but supposedly healthier. its very high in proten, highish in fibre and lo-fat.
i cook it in stock then add finely chopped peppers, celery, cherry toms, cucumber and crumbled feta.
its even better with a handful of crunchy seeds added too
i've just finished lunch and think i've eaten a bit too much, had 2 ryvitas and LF philly with it which was probably a bit un-necessary.- prior planning prevents poor performance!

i think that quinoa is a whole grain of some sort, whereas couscous is made from wheat flour, so quinoa is better for fibre etc. I've not tried it, keep meaning to, but we need to eat through the 6 different packets of bulghar wheat and cous cous in the cupboard first!
Just back from my run, 2 miles in 30 minutes, and I'm knackered. No protests from my back though, which is hopeful. Will try and get out again on Friday or at the weekend.Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -

I do it with stir fry vegetables [cook and flavour in the usual way, then mix with cooked quinoa], or I substitute quinoa for rice to eat with veggie curries/chilli. I will have to try some new quinoa recipes though.
My meal plans for today are -
B - sliced banana with LF greek yoghurt, drizzle of honey and sprinkle of nuts
L - Wholemeal pitta, LF hoummous, grated carrot, tomatoes, chopped red pepper and onion
D -broccoli in cheese sauce. Extra vegetables. I am going to try Mollie41's method of cooking sauce using cornflour, as I have been looking for a lower calorie recipe for cheese sauce.
S's - brazil nuts, fruit. I will try to be good and not have a cadbury's mini roll that I bought for my very slim children.
Have a good day everyone!0 -
