tink - for me it's my wedding that's keeping me on the straight and narrow! Also, I'm fed up of feeling like I do about my weight, so I'm trying hard to change it :) keep on going, it'll happen in the end!

    Hi

I was wondering if I could get some advice from all of you who are doing so well. I have been really struggling to keep on the wagon of late and I don’t know what to do. :(

I’m trying to lose weight because I want to do it for me and not because someone has told me to which has happened in the past. I know I need to reduce my calories and increase my exercise but I really seem to be struggling.

I has really hoped I would have been able to lose a stone for this challenge but having stood on the scales over the weekend I think I’m back to where I was when we first started the challenge. It’s starting to get me down, because this is the first time in a long time that I’ve been able to do something just fro me and I feel a bit like a failure.

People at work are telling me I should go to a class but I can’t afford to be paying out £5 odd a week to go.

I was using MFP but haven’t logged in for a couple of weeks.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. I really don’t want to go back to the way I was.

    tink x

I have no idea what MFP is but I am firmly of the opinion that if what you're trying isn't working then it might just be that your body needs a different approach. Some feel quite content with a ryvita and half a grape and do really well. I don't, I just get lethargic, depressed and ravenous so I do what suits me. What is it they say, if you always do the same thing you always get the same results? If you always do the same thing and it never works then change what you're doing.

Lautz it was a year and a stone before my clothes started to feel looser, and only now, after a couple of years, is it really noticable. That sounds odd but then I think I must be an odd shape! I just had to persevere, I lost heart many times but kept plodding on and it's now paying off. Looked, and felt, good yesterday in a tee-shirt which for once didn't cling but hung quite loose :D.

tink like daska I can only suggest you change your daily menu's, perhaps you need more or less carbs/calories/whatever. Sometimes our bodies get in a rut and a change can kick start it again. It took me a while to discover that cutting down on fats suits me, there are times when nothing seems to happen so I add or take something away from my usual foods and it seems to work.

Now I really must go to bed, it was a great film but why was it on so late?! Night night :)

Morning all, it's another really lovely day outside.

Lauzt: I tend to notice that my waistband/belt feels looser fairly quickly, but the rest of me takes a lot longer.

Tink: I'm doing it for me too, but it's still really hard. My weight can go up and down, whatever I do, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it at times.

At least if we're exercising more, we'll be improving our health and fitness, weight loss or not. :)

    Today:
    B: wholegrain museli
    L: ham sandwiches on WM.
D: SC chicken and veg soup, rolls.
S: fruit and a few nuts.

Exercise: at least 10,000 steps. Short session on on Kinect Fitness if I can find the time.

Have a peaceful day all. :)

    Morning all :)

Tink, if you're struggling to keep to your plans, how about a treat day (or just 1 meal) every week? I found that I could stick to my targets well during the week, but needed to let myself relax over the weekend, otherwise I would slip up after about 10 days due to feeling deprived :o Knowing that I could have a treat when I wanted it over the weekend made it easier to keep my other meals balanced/low cal, and I often ended up not far over my calories despite the treat.

    Today:
Breakfast: 2 slices raisin loaf w/ butter, glass of SS milk, fruit corner, grapes
Lunch: pork sandwich, yoghurt, apple, satsumas, plums (some of this fruit may be snacks in morning/afternoon)
Dinner: basil macaroni & cheese with pancetta, carrots, broccoli
    Snack: hobnob

Thanks for the advice everyone. I feel a lot better about things now. Was just having a down day. I honestly don't think i'd have stuck with this without you lot!

    Breakfast: cereal bar, banana
Lunch: prawn salad wrap, shape yogurt, bag of mini cookies
    Snacks: tangerines
Dinner: Not sure yet. Shopping got delivered last night and am overwhelmed by all the food (all healthy(ish) though.) Maybe fajitas made with quorn, vegetables and a little low fat sour cream.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Morning all :)

Absolutely right LitteMoog, my treat day goes a long way to keeping me on the straight and narrow. It's usually Saturday of course, then I have the whole week to lose it again before WI ;)

    B - F&F, ss milk
    D - Pasta bol
    T - Veggie omelette
    Snacks - apple, grapes, melon
Exercise - just going to exercise group for an hour

I think a greater force than us is at work after hearing about the hosepipe ban - it's been drizzling for hours :D. It must be taking pity on me, I sowed grass seed on the bald patches yesterday!

    Have a great day :)

Dundeedoll - Welcome to the thread.
Lauzt - I didn't really notice much until nearly a stone (when clothes started fitting better) but everyone else noticed. Then I had to wear a belt to keep my jeans up and I noticed when I had to go down a notch! I am very tall though so a stone goes a long way on me. Now I notice when I've eaten a big dinner my tummy looks bigger (that IS weird!) and this week I am PM'ing early and I look and feel huge to me (2lb gain). I never would have noticed when I was bigger.
A few of us measured ourselves at the start of the challenge, it's not too late to take a few measurements to compare to, even a month later you may well see a difference. Someone posted a picture of what a pound of fat looks like, it's quite impressive. Here's one

Ragz thanks for that. That's given me a lot of encouragment. God isn't it scary and disgusting knowing that's what you're carrying around inside you. Pounds and pounds (stones in my case!) of the stuff. That might just be the motivation I need not to have the bag of mini cookies sitting in my desk drawer :)
