I think it's sad that because we are all overweight we automatically think of food as two catergories, ie it's either good or bad.

No food is bad, we simply eat too much. We shouldn't beat ourselves up or feel ashamed simply because we chose to eat a large portion or eat something containing a lot of sugar, fat or grease and just learn from the mistake.

I ate a whole box of ferrero rocher to myself yesterday but I refuse to feel guilty about it today, it's not like I can do anything about it once I've eaten it :rotfl::rotfl: I just have to tell myself it's a one off and try not to do it again!

    Today-

    B 2 crispbreads
L Thai flavoured cous cous with roast chicken and some sweetcorn
T Porridge with nuts, sultanas and cinnamon
  • ellie - sorry you're feeling sad about the empty house. I can sympathise to an extent - I used to rarely find myself home alone in my houseshare, but now it seems to happen every month. I tended to treat myself to a takeaway, but now it's a habit to cheer myself up that I'm a sad sap with nothing to do on yet another Friday night!

My last home alone weekend, I treated myself to a big box of grapes - I love grapes; they're expensive at this time of year but still cheaper than a takeaway, so I still got the nice treat. And I pulled some frozen spag bol out the freezer too, so I didn't have to cook either. Would this work for you?
  • B porridge with prunes
    L mugsh0t on the go
T LO lamb casserole with small HM Yorkshire pudding

then hubby went and made cheese on toast and I couldn't resist - only had half a slice though!

After a couple of weeks feeling down with the diet, I have noticed that my clothes are now feeling looser around the hips, feeling pleased:)

Started well then went as a model to have my hair tinted, it was exam day and the salon had lined up sweet snacks for students and customers, so I ended up eating 5 mini flapjacks. Will I ever manage to go back to a pattern of sugar free healthy eating?
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I honestly don't know if it would work for me minicooper272, maybe if I planned my meals in detail at the weekends, instead of deciding at 5 or 6pm it would help. If I've taken something out of the freezer, I wouldn't want to waste it.

I don't learn from my food mistakes...I know if I have takeaway I won't lose weight that week, and yet even knowing that, I quite deliberately go and buy it. I get so frustrated with myself, because I'm fighting against myself. It's a long-ingrained belief that food = treat.

I'll keep trying to overcome this, maybe I could use the McKenna idea of imagining takeaway food covered in something disgusting so I don't want it :) A ban is a very last resort!
I think February in general is a depressing month, and I might feel more positive about losing weight when spring arrives. I have a long drive tomorrow, and snow is forecast...yuck, i hate winter :(

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

Well I have got back to my good diet, ie nothing processed, all made from scratch and now not including desserts. I have lost 1.4 kg over the last few days. So getting back on track very quickly.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • I overheard someone discussing substituting finely shredded cabbage for rice as a means to lose weight. This has got me thinking, as I do like stir fry & rice -and I probably could do with cutting down on rice, but I'm not sure what to do with the cabbage?
Has anyone come across this & should the cabbage be raw or cooked (steamed or stir fried?)? Does it really provide a good substitute to rice?
