I do not think it makes much difference. The reason is that cabbage is high in fibre and so is tougher for the digestion to get through. It also uses up more energy trying to digest it. Being high in fibre makes you feel fuller as well. Sprouts and broccoli are also high in fibre.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

I would think cabbage is better for you than rice. It takes a little longer to cook so I shred it finely and sweat it in the wok in a little butter and black pepper until it's just opaque/al dente, before adding other ingredients to the stir fry. Not very fond of rice so this makes a tasty and filly alternative.
Brunch - slice of chicken pizza
T - bowl of tomato soup, slice bread and spread, 1/2 with peanut butter, 1/2 with vegemite
S - 3 pieces shortbread, melon, celery
Cold this evening so I'm in my fleecy jimmies, dressing gown and ski sox already.0 -

T prawn korma and rice, poppadum and mango chutney
no snacks as yet, but tea was larger than it should be0 -
You can use grated cooked cauliflower as a substitute for rice too, if you are avoiding eating too many carbs.
Today was ok, resisted the urge of sugary stuff so I suppose I should be glad. Ate reasonably well.Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Thinking how well Im doing easing off the sugar whilst popping a handful of penny sweets in my mouth!!! Not quite there yet eh0

Hi everyone
Back at work today but still feel rather under the weather
Talking about weather....................I think ill be swimming to college tonight :eek::eek: It just wont stop raining I feel really sorry for people affected by the floods
Today:
B: 1/2 museli, 1/2 bran flakes, sprinkle blueberries, small chopped banana, greek yog
S: 1 seeded bread toasted, butter, throat sweet
L: HM veg soup, carrot sticks and hummous
S: I have an apple, an orange and some grapes but dont think ill eat all these
T: eaten on way to college- cheese, ham and salad sandwich, mini baby bell and 1 slice bran loaf (hm)
I have been pretty busy lately- I work full time, voulenteer on a Tuesday night, go to college on Wednesday evening (which at this level requires approx 4 hours homework each week) and voluenteer every other Fri night. Plus all the usual life things- washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning etc etc
On the volunteer/college nights im out the house from 8:30am to approx 9:30pm and I think this has contributed to me being so run down
Anyway long ramble short I have decidied to give up my Friday night voluenteering and hope to now have abit of 'me' time where I can get some exercise/unwind alittle

D - Cumberland sausage, cauliflower cheese, runner beans
T - will be 3 Crackerbread with rf cheese, Vegemite, scrape apricot jam
S - satsuma, apple, melon
No exercise but had my hair cut, must be worth 1/2lb
Stay safe and dry, be careful driving the wind is horrible.0 -

L. Nothing, as pancakes were eaten late in the day
S. 2 ryvitas with peanut butter
D. 1 hm salmon fish cake, new potatoes, hm coleslaw, broccoli and salad. Cheese and pear, a few Brazil nuts

I'm not a regular poster here, but I follow this thread, hope it's OK if I reply.
I saw the recipe on TV, Save with Jamie, and found the instructions on his website (I think there is something wrong with the layout today, at least on my screen) https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/vegetables-recipes/veggie-korma-mock-cauliflower-pilau
Here's the instructionsCut the florets into even-sized chunks and pulse in a food processor until it's the same texture and size as rice. Tip it into a microwave-safe dish and cover. Steam or microwave the cauliflower on high for 7 minutes, or until cooked through, just before serving.0
