  • Well, I am chuffed to bits.. My son is starting up a new business so I'll be kept busy doing all the admin... designing a web page, answering phones.. Creating a letterhead and so on... Hopefully, I'll be able to keep myself so so busy, I'll never have a chance to think of food... We were away seeing the accountant today so I didn't have time to post and the only thing I had a chance to eat was chinese noodle (chicken flavour)..

I am also sitting with a vodka and diet coke as I feel good about his new venture to go self employed.. Anyway....

I would have to say that I am not buying any goodies in advance for Christmas.... I eat them..... absolutely no will power... I bought a couple of boxes of Border biscuits... Big mistake.. so nothing... absolutely nothing in the way of sweets, chocolates, biscuits are being bought until the last minute... In fact, do I really need to buy sweets, chocolates or biscuits for Christmas ??????

    That is the question...

    Take care everyone...

officeguru, really good news re the new business :)

You make a really good point...why do we need chocolates and biscuits because it's Christmas? At the risk of sounding like scrooge, I don't remember the Christmas story including the three wise men bringing gifts of sweets, chocolate and biscuits!
It's just the "it's the holidays and we deserve treats" thinking, isn't it? Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want, but it's not a necessity.

I haven't bought anything yet either...I looked through some of the supermarket brochures a few days ago, and I was quite overwhelmed by all the Christmas foods they have, especially nibbles and desserts, it seemed excessive...they seemed to be giving the impression that you needed to buy it to have a successful Christmas.

I'm already planning my treat!...I love puff pastry mince pies, but no-one else does, so planning to buy only one pack of 4. I'll buy shortcrust ones for the others, and shortbread, I can ignore those. I've deliberately not baked a xmas cake, because I end up eating it right through January, but I'll need to buy a little bit, it's expected! And I may overdose on trifle a bit on Christmas day :rotfl:

My make or break will be whether I get pulled into eating the chocolates again...can I resist them when they're right in front of me?

northwest1965...I think we have 4 weeks to go after this weekend, the challenge ends the weekend before Christmas :)

If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?

  • Started reading this thread from the beginning tonight.

Inspired, hope this carries on or another challenge starts at the beginning of the new year as I would very much like to join you all. I have around 4st in all to lose :o

Until then, I'll continue reading through, picking up OS tips (I don't have the time or the money to join a group or eat special diet foods that differ from what the rest of the family are eating) & making notes & a start on shifting some of these unwanted lbs.

    Have a lovely evening x

  • Hi All

Thanks for all your kind words...

I am late posting today... I decided to have chicken on a string !!! I don't normally light the fire during the day but i was freezing.. and I don't like wasting heat... lol so I did chicken on a string.. It's great to watch the chicken slowly revolving with the heat of the fire..:D I had to use a cricket bat to keep the 2 cats I have off it though..:(

Once it was ready, I cut it down and took it into the kitchen... I then got umpteen phone calls so my dinner was almost ruined... but, but, I had already mashed potato and turnip together so I popped the sliced chicken breast on a plate and popped it on top of the pot to keep warm... Some of the chicken wasn't cooked enough, so I diced a large potato, 2 carrots, 1 sweet pepper that was walking out of the fridge, a stick of celery, then added the chicken a couple of pints of stock and made soup... I also added parsley, seasoning ... I then took the cooked chicken out of the soup - boned and diced the chicken and popped it back into the soup... I also added about a cup of small pasta to thicken it up.. Funnily enough, I was able to eat this but I only took a little just in case... Tomorrow, I'll add the leftover turnip/potato mash to it and turn it into a nice thick heartwarming soup... :A I could have added more than I did but my beloved had already munched his way thought half my ingredients...

    Have a good night...
