    Hi Knit Witch,

I am sorry to say that I will have to bow out of this challenge. My in laws are going from one crisis to the next and this morning, my mother-in-law was rushed into hospital with yet another fall.. I had to go and see them and while I was there, I cleaned their little house.. My father-in-law is seriously anti social and refuses to have a cleaner in.. so, in my humble opinion, in another couple of days, the house would have been a health hazard.. Not as bad as 'train spotting' though... She's been doing her best but she is too frail to clean floors etc.. So I am having to go back and forth halfway across the country to see to them so my eating has gone out of the window as we are having to grab food here and there...

I thank you all so much for the support I have been given up to now... I have fairly shifted the stones and hopefully, before long, I'll be back on the challenge... but at the moment, we can just hope that she pulls through.. Mind you, 6 months ago, it was his dad that was going in and out of hospital like a yoyo and today, he's like his old self.. but they will both be 90 next year and she is now looking extremely frail... When they wheeled her out of the house today, they covered her with a blanket and I felt I wouldn't see her again...

Good luck everyone, and, hopefully, I'll be back before long..
Sorry to hear of your MIL's fall officeguru. Hope she will be ok and your FIL will allow someone to help him in her absence. Don't forget to look after yourself too, and pop in now and again if you can - you are the wise owl of the forum! You have given us so much sensible advice and I thank you for that. :) Take care. xx

Daisiegg - hope you're ok. Lots of love and prayers. xx

I'm recording a STS again. I'm struggling with an on-off niggly cystitis thingy which won't make its mind up if I have or haven't got it, and I'm drinking so much cranberry juice, I think that's why I'm having trouble shifting the weight. I've given myself an ultimatum - if I'm still the same on Monday, I'm telling the nurse when I go for my flu jab and fasting bloods done. Hopefully she can do something because I'm on holiday the following week, and don't want this to go on any longer.

sorry for your problems Officeguru, its a great worry and you must concentrate on family at the moment .Don't skip eating though as it will only make you poorly as well.

I made some delicious carrot and coriander soup yesterday so that's lunches taken care off for a few days.I am peeling a big bag of apples this morning .Once stewed gently in some water and some honey they will be very useful in the fridge. Some will be frozen for later, and some will be added to natural yoghurt with some cinnamon for pudding and some will go on my porridge or cereal in the morning .There are a good two to three dozen of them, windfalls from my DDs pa-in-laws trees so I won't waste them at all.
Breakfast today is a boiled egg and a couple of crispbreads. Then a pot of coffee mid-morning with my eldest DD.A regular Sunday morning treat for us both as we have a good natter and put the world to rights :):) She is off to NYC on Friday for a week with her OH.They go for the shopping every year just before Christmas.Hopefully they will be safe this year as last year they got caught up in all the hurricane and storms there, which was a bit frightening
Right time for breakfast methinks .Good luck to everyone this week

Oh officeguru, sorry to hear about your situation :( of course it makes sense not to be worrying about the challenge but as KnitWitch said, hopefully you can still pop in and chat to us occasionally.

I did a sneaky weigh this morning and have lost one of the lbs I had gained on Friday so I am really hoping if I am good this week I can lose the other and maybe even more than that.

I did 30 mins very brisk walking on the treadmill yesterday and am going to do the same today and aim to do it as many times as possible over the week. They say you should do 30 mins exercise a day so that is what I will try to work up to but it might take a while to get there!

It is utterly grey and miserable here - pouring with rain and so dark it looks like 7pm outside. Perfect time for baking and comfort food! Noooooooo daisie......

NTBT so sorry I missed your birthday <slap on wrist for sparrer> here's another cal/carb/fat/etc free cyber cake for you
    _party_ :bdaycake: _party_

Thanks Sparrer, thats enough cyber cake to keep me going all week now.

Yesterday was such a horrible day, I dont think it stopped raining at all - a friend who lives in a seaside town was again on flood alert - full moon, high tide and all that rain = not a good mix.

Even though the weather was rubbish I stuck with the plan other than 2 chocolates and a glass of wine while watching tv - simple pleasures ;)

I am having a bit of a lazy day and just doing some tidying in prep for more painting tomorrow - got to keep going whilst I have the motivation.

    Food-wise =
B - Cheese on toast (a bit naughty but a little of what I fancy :D)
    L - Chicken rice soup
D - Spicy Bean Casserole, slice of garlic bread, leeks & carrots
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £119.54
    Aug - Grocery spends = £20.63

Weight wise it might be a bit of a disaster day, but what fun! I am just back from a bread making day run by a lovely woman, organised by a community farm that DH and I sponsored.

Apart from learning loads, it included lunch and it was just sooo gorgeous! Only another attended so it was really relaxed and we got through loads!

Obvs lots of freshly baked bread went into my face but am not sorry...although I might change my tune when next I step on the scales.

Will have a very light dinner, to compensate. Good night all x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

(((OG))) will say one for your MiL, take care and come back when you can, we'll be holding the fort for you x

Like you JackieO I've been peeling and slicing apples. Stripped the tree yesterday and have so far frozen three ice-cream tubs full plus a big bowl in the fridge. Very useful to add to all sorts of things.

B - F&F, ff Greek yogurt, stewed apple
D - child's portion of Hunters chicken, 11 chips (I counted them :D) and probably a desert spoon of peas. 2 churro's, scoop ice cream
T - slice hm wm bread, rf spread, scrape apricot jam.
S - melon, grapes, carrot batons
E - none, feeling very giddy and strange every time I move my head to the left for the past few days, would have fallen out of the shower this morning had I not got hold of the grab rail. At friends insistence I'll give the gp a call tomorrow though by then I'll probably be as right as ninepence again :p

    Sweet dreams :)
  • Officeguru I hope your MIL recovers soon. Please make sure that you take care of yourself as you need to be well to cope with everything.
I think that I've had a better weekend foodwise. Breakfast this morning was yogurt with raisins and honey, lunch was a ham salad sandwich and dinner was roast pork, 1 boiled potato, Brussels, roast parsnip gravy and onion sauce made with lf milk. Dessert was apple and strawberry crumble with lf custard.
Sparrer hope you're feeling better soon. Virtual hugs from me

    Good morning everyone :D

Been awake since 4.30am here. Ouch. Hubby had to be at work for 6am. I didn't need to get up until 6 but struggled to get back to sleep before dozing off at about 5.50....only for the alarm to go off at 6! Such a horrid feeling.

I have a couple of very busy days at work which will mean not much time to eat in the day...which I suppose is not a bad thing. So, today:

    B - banana porridge, tea
L/S - will take with me to work a mini banana smoothie (80 cals), a big tub of carrot sticks, an apple and a satsuma. How much of that I will have time to eat we will have to see!
D - prawn linguine with a tomato salad
S- Aiming for no naughty snacks but will definitely have a cup of tea when I get in from work and probably a couple of prunes with it for a sweet hit.
E - my aim is to do a walk on the treadmill again but I will have to see what time I get home and how tired I am. I will be on my feet all day and I am never in the same classroom twice today so I will be navigating many staircases while heaving giant bags of books around!

Hope everyone had a restful weekend and has a good week.

Well, I'll draw a line under yesterday, which was a perfect demonstration of why I tend to put on weight in the winter - I suffer from seasonal depression and felt really down all day, which I 'treated' with a dinner of cheese on toast followed by a mini apple pie with cream (despite not being remotely hungry), washed down by a couple of large glasses of wine. :o I did feel better - and even slept well, which is unusual for me on a Sunday night - but it won't have done wonders for my weight loss attempts. :(

    Anyway, today goes:

B - slice of HM bread with plum and ginger jam
L - soup with a slice of bread thinly spread with butter; FF yoghurt; apple
D - pork goulash (this, without the dumplings)

OG - sorry to hear of your family problems. Hugs to you, and I hope things improve for you all soon.

sparrer - hope you feel better this morning, as you were expecting. ;)
Back after a very long break!
