Not been a good week due to poorliness but will weigh myself tomorrow.

    Today's meals looked like this:

    porridge and banana

Child's pasta meal in a caf!

trout fillet, wedges of potato and sweet potato and some cabbage.

3 Kinder chocolates off my son!

I'm only mentioning it because it took me AGES of doing exactly that to realise (and to believe) and I tested it this month - one week I ate 1000 calories out of my 1400 a day and STS, last week I ate as close as possible to 1400 (and went slightly over on two, oops!) and lost 3lbs.

I know it sounds weird (I have no science capabilities whatsover :p) but for some people it makes all the difference. Obviously everyone is different and I'm not saying that it will be the same for you but my body definitely does it - fingers crossed for you all for a loss this week :)

I don't understand it either, but I've mostly lost 1lb per week or STS, when eating under or on my calorie goal, but on the weeks when I've eaten all sorts of carp and gone over, I've lost 2lbs!?

walking up all those stairs would help work it off, maybe you should do it every time :)

Hopefully it did work a bit off, but doing it every time? I don't think so, lol, I said to OH 'next time I suggest that, just say no!'. Mind you a few years ago (after another of my weight loss efforts), I actually ran up the same stairs, while OH went up the escalator, and it didn't affect me as much, but I was a bit lighter, fitter and more importantly, younger, lol!

A bit disappointed with another STS this week, especially as I'd lost a pound earlier in the week and put it back on!

If I might pass in some info I was given by a gym instructor, its because your body goes into 'starvation' mode. It needs a certain number of calories just to function and if its not getting these it clings onto everything it does get to survive the lean times.
The other danger is that if your body doesn't get what it needs from food it starts to break down the glycogen (sure that's what its called, its a bit early haha) inthe body's muscle and organs rather than fat stores.
Hope that makes sense and is of some help,

Well you have sort of joined in already by posting :rotfl: so welcome to the thread! If you want to join in the weight loss challenge, this one runs until the weekend of the 22nd December and this weekend is the third weigh in - so plenty of time left :D all you need to do is let me know how much you hope to lose in the time remaining of the challenge and then weekly let me know how much you have lost or gained and I update the spreadsheet, you don't need to say how much you weigh so no problems there ;)

OK, just (wo)maned up and got on the scales and its not as bad as I thought :j
Looking at my calendar there's 9 weeks till the 22nd and if I can lose a lb a week I'll break through down to the next stone barrier. Think its also a reasonable amount to look too lose.
Thanks for letting me join the party.
