I WI this morning at 11st9lb so 2lb lighter than yesterday which has made me feel very good, if that can be the same next WI day I will be very pleased. I am trying to talk myself into going for a jog, it is minues temperatures out there!
I am also on a downwards trajectory :T:T:TI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning everyone, hope you are all well. It’s a much better day here, no harsh NE wind so it’s feeling loads milder and the sun is starting to get through.
JayII, I also have a few nuts at some point during the day, either crushed and sprinkled on my yoghurt or a small handful to nibble on. I keep a small stock normally pistachio, hazelnuts & walnuts in my baking cupboard. I also keep a pack of seed mix (sunflower, pumpkin and pinenuts) which I nibble on, toast them and sprinkle on my salads or use when making my own muesli. As JBD says they are a good source of protein and as a result I take care about the amount I use and what else I have consumed bearing in mind their calorific value.
My treat is going to be a fried egg sandwich, haven’t had one since we started this challenge and beginning to dream about them, have ciabatta rolls in the freezer specifically for this purpose, just love these crunchy rolls with eggs even with the danger of the yolk squirting out when you bite :rotfl:.
So this is how the day pans out for me
B – Yoghurt, blueberries, crushed hazelnuts, drizzle of honey
L – Fried Egg Sandwich
D – Chicken, Mushroom & Sweetcorn Pie (potato topping) mixed veg.
Have a good day.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61

Morning all
ragz well done on the loss, don't find that 2lb again next WI day!.
I agree with the others, a small treat every day is better than one huge blow-out day a week, though I will very occasionally have a meal out and not worry too much about the fat/calorie cost. As Dragoncry said it's good to give your body a change every now and then so it doesn't get into a rut.
B - porridge w/spices/dried fruit/splash sk milk
D - chilli chicken, mini naan
T - hm soup, 2 crackerbread
Snacks - melon, grapefruit, satsuma, apple (will be glad when those 4 pears in the fruit bowl ripen)
Exercise - 20 mins pulm, 10 mins sweeping snow. Brrrr, it's cold outside!
Stay safe and warm0 -
2lb gain. Will do better next time.....
-2lbs
Goal: lose 7lbs0 -
Well done on the losses everyone! Dragoncry, a one stone loss is really impressive! :T :T :THi Jay
A weekly treat day should be a good idea in theory because if you eat the same every day your body will get used to it and it needs to be kept guessing to shift the weight and keep your metabolism moving.
Also you can have nice treats which will give you a boost like a small piece of rich fruit cake (full of iron, fibre and vitamin e) or have a slice of dark choc cheesecake (antioxidants + calcium).
Lots of people have 2 chunks of dark choc daily which you could use as a treat when you had a good day eating wise. Kiwi fruit is also a great snack as it is meant to reduce food cravings, so if you feel stressed and want to comfort eat, try one of those.
There's no need to stop having the 'naughty' foods, just keep in moderation and enjoy

It's not so much naughty foods as a strong addiction, I've tried to limit my consumption for years but I've come to realise that it isn't going to happen. I don't even really enjoy crisps any more, but once I start I can't eating them I can't stop. Sugar makes my crisp craving worse, so I'm going to be strict on that for a while too.
I don't like kiwis but I'll look around and see if anything else has a similar effect. I love veg, salad and berries but I have to push myself to eat other fruit. Thanks for the craving-busting idea. :T :TI had a very serious crisp addiction. I broke it by only buying the kids ones that I don't like or eat. That way they aren't sitting in the cupboard to tempt me. As regards nuts, they are a useful source of protein and 'good fats', but you need to look at the unsalted variety. I could easily hoover up a whole packet of salted peanuts or cashews, but that isn't really any better for me than eating crisps. I usually have 4 brazil nuts a day [for the selenium which helps protect against cancer].
I think a treat day is fine if you only have a couple of treats, rather than going overboard. I usually have a small treat each day [I'm thinking 100-150 calories].
I find it easier to control cravings by not buying 'treats' in bulk [better to control my children's diets as well]. If we want sweets or chocolates then I buy the small amount that we are going to eat, rather than having it in the cupboard or fridge.
Thanks, that's exactly where I am now. A small treat sounds like a good idea. I only have teenagers now and they buy and eat enough junk with their lunch and pocket money that I don't need to keep any in the house, so I'm going to clear the cupboards out. OH is also trying to lose weight so it will help both of us.Need2bthrifty wrote: »

Thanks, that is good advice. A bit of healthy protein and minerals must be a good thing as long as I keep an eye on quantities.
A fried egg in ciabatta sounds scrummy! :T:T:T
Thank you so much for all the advice everyone.
Have a great day. :A[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

jay2 do you like clementines? I find one of those is quite nice when I fancy something sweet, and they are small enough to have a couple.0

Hey, folks! Just joined the forum and this sounds like my kind of thread!!;)
I made the decision this year to save my waistline and my bank balance by cooking more things from scratch. Its going really well! The freezer is now full of home cooked meals rather then slimming ready meals, homemade soups, bread, cakes, etc. Lots of fruit and veg that has been frozen for later rather then thrown coz it looked abit manky.:o
I have a slow cooker that Im getting to grips with and will be investing in a blender for yummy soups and smoothies. Also started to get fit by walking the dogs more often and digging out the exercise DVDs (much cheaper then the gym!).
I lost 1st 4Ibs for January so something must be working!!0 -
