If she has now fallen on hard times, she has no choice but to name the father. Yes she could say she doesn't know who he is, but that's not the truth if she does. Maybe she didn't WANT to claim but is an honest person?
but isn't it true that when you are on benefits you only recieve £10 out of the amount he pays???:j Egypt 10th May - Here we come!!!:j0 -
Yes that is true, so she isn't going to gain much by it, but when on benefits, an extra 40 quid per month is a lot of money. However, it is a requirement that she provides the info otherwise she could lose 40% of her personal allowance which is a hell of a lot of money when on benefits.0

How about the fact that the NRP has got off lightly then, as he hasn't had to pay for the previous 12 years? Either way, if he accepts paternity (and this can only be 100% sure after a DNA test) then he should pay. Clearly, if there is doubt then go for the DNA test, but if he is sure, then he will have to pay for that AND the maintenance.0

Pay a few hundred quid for peace of mind and if the child is not your's you at least get the money refunded via the CSA.Information is not knowledge.

That's right they won't refund a private test! Best to deny paternity, get the DNA test done via CSA and then get a refund if you are not the father.0

So this may add weight to the theory that she had no choice but to claim BECAUSE SHE IS ON INCOME SUPPORT and HAS to claim.0 -
She could also not be on Income Support and in fact just fancy a holiday to the maldives once she's saved up the maintenance...and before anyone says this doesn't happen...it does!!
I also still think that SHE should pay for the paternity test, due to the fact that she's waited all this time to make a claim. The fact that she may have started receiving benefits is immateral. If she had any decency and truely believed that this man was the father, she should have made him pay from the start and used the money for her children, regardless of her financial situation.0 -

dont see why this woman should have to pay for a DNA it dont sound like she doesnt know who the father is, maybe she wanted to support the child herself but now has a change of circumstance and has had to go through the csa, women cant win, they apply for maintenance straight away and get called money grabbers, they dont and they get sl@gged off for it :rolleyes:0 -
She has held off for a reason - she doesn't want to make him pay but the law says she must. Why does this make her a money grabber? The NRP has got off without paying a penny for 12 years - lucky him. But now is the time he must face up to his responsiblities - I think that it is more likely to be this than she is wanting a holiday! I agree, PWCs are always seen by the NRPs as money grabbing greedy women, but they ignore the fact that as a parent, they BOTH have a responsibility towards the CHILD whether they like it or not!0
