No, I meant what I said. They are even less efficient than before, just nastier, in that they are more likely to get things wrong, lose things, lie, bully, cheat etc. Please take it from me, I've been a 'client' for several years, firstly as NRP then as PWC so this is first hand knowledge.Oldernotwiser wrote:Perhaps you mean that they've been getting more efficient lately, which many of us would consider a good thing.Information is not knowledge.

That's not quite how it works. If a man disputes paternity when he gets the form, he is entitled to say so. If a test is required, child and potential father are tested. The CSA will try and get the man to pay up front but that's clearly not an option if he has no money. If he's the father, he pays for the test and the assessment from around the time he got the form. If he isn't, he either gets the money back or doesn't get a bill.shameless-about-money wrote:If you quite honestly believe that the child is not yours you shouldn't be made to pay. As far as I know it is then up to the Mother to prove that you are the Father by means of a DNA - which is quite expensive.
The mother can of course then accuse someone else, if she's so inclined. Actually, there is nothing to stop her making repeated accusations and she can accuse anyone, even the prime minister.
Not necessarily, it's possible for them to make assumptions about paternity. The CSA need your statement (form) with your signature so that they can investigate further.Information is not knowledge.

I would say that this woman believes you are the father - The CSA only act on information they have been given.
If you did have a sexual relaitionship with this lady then you COULD be the father. You need a DNA test which I beleive are relatively cheap now a days - A couple of hundred pounds to find out the truth.
If you are the father then I suggest you pay and look at using protection in the future. If not then a lucky escape.
I don't have much sympathy I'm afraid people should support their children instead of letting the state do it.0 -

You will get the results unless there is a delay in sending them to the lab. Was it long ago?0

It's a bit sick that the mother of this child has waited almost 12 years to claim money from this man?! and to indirectly inform him that he could be the father of the child is as equally bad.
Some would question her motives....is money running short?
I agree that absent parents should pay for their children and this should start when that parent leaves or when the child is born etc.
If she wants the money now, I reckon she should pay for the DNA test. I hate it when people jump on their high horse about men being in the wrong when it comes to things like this.
Anyway, rant over. .....
p.s. I don't have ANY children out there.0 -
We got stung the other way. My husband ws paying his ex wife AND getting her to sign for the money, she decided to be funny and contacted the csa, fortunately she shot herself in the foot and we had to pay her less. My husband sent in all the receipts that she had signed for and they owe us about £150.00 that was about 3 years since and we have received zilch and when we ring they always know nothing about it. Unfortunately his ex passed away so we just gave up!!!Oldernotwiser wrote:Perhaps you mean that they've been getting more efficient lately, which many of us would consider a good thing.
Also with his ex passing away we have had his 2 children come to live with us so 4 in total 13,10,9,and 7 with no extra help financially only slightly extra in tax credits. Roll on spring, I hate the cold weather:(

I totally agree with mrbnewc1 WTH!!! 12 years later the pwc chooses to contact the CSA i would be querying this myself, firstly get yourself a DNA test and make sure you really are the father.
Pay a few hundred quid for peace of mind and if the child is not your's you at least get the money refunded via the CSA.
DO NOT bury your head in the sand it could prove very costly for you!! take the first step, you might be worrying for nothing at all.Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique.

Well, perhaps you are looking at it in the wrong way? Perhaps she is now on benefits and has never HAD to make a claim before. If she has now fallen on hard times, she has no choice but to name the father. Yes she could say she doesn't know who he is, but that's not the truth if she does. Maybe she didn't WANT to claim but is an honest person?0
