Ditch 100 in January Challenge 17/100
Slow day here, not feeling very well, so just a few things ditched:
12. Keyboard to car boot / charity shop box
13. Juggling balls set to car boot / charity shop box
14. Bleached t-shirt to rag bag
15. Assortment of boxes to recycling
16. Two tops to car boot / charity shop box
17. Picture in frame to car boot / charity shop box
To be fair, most of that was OH so can't even claim credit for what has been achieved!
Need your advice here - I have a number of contact lenses which are my old prescription, still in date. Am I allowed to list them on freegle and do you think anyone would be interested? Bit of a pain as I had slightly different prescriptions in each eye so the chance of someone wanting them are remote but I would rather try than just automatically landfill them.
Also got a broken monitor OH wants me to freecycle - I can imagine the responses I will get when people don't notice that it's broken!
Right, off for a long hot soak in the bath to see if that makes me feel better.
I once freecycled a monitor that wasn't working properly. It was a slim lcd one but the person who took it used to repair TVs so saw it as a challange and he sent me a lovely email telling me it took him 6 hours but he'd got it working! :TAgeing is a privilege not everyone gets.

No, so you won't clear it overnight and expecting to is just setting yourself up for failure. I suggest you make your own list of things decluttered as you go so you can see what you have achieved when you feel overwhelmed and dejected. Also is there an area which you can clear relatively easy in terms of time and emotions, which should give you a boost. Eg this time of year I recycle all the various Christmas gift catalogues I have collected. Obviously no longer of any use and leaves an obvious gap.
I was decluttering my dd's flat before Xmas, and have just realised it didn't stress me as much as doing mine! In fact, it was very therapeutic. So, it's interesting how emotionally invested I am in my own clutter. I have done some minor shredding and recycling of junk paper.
I need to find an area where my emotions aren't too wrapped up in the things I have. Thanks . :A0 -
Ditch 100 in January 31/100
24. Packing from new toilet
25. Internal parts of old toilet
26. Plastic from the garden
27. Packing from towel rail and bathroom shower caddy. Shower caddy installed, towel rail still on floor.
28. Old window gasket from small window in bathroom
29. Broken thermos flask
30. OOD food - vanilla butter flavoring stuff (vintage 2001), jar of poppy seeds (smelt funny)
31. Empty aerosol can
Have listed a couple more items on ebay - I find it so slow! Also found a suit and two shirts to list, managed to photograph the suit, no time to do the shirts.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

because I de-cluttered my first thing today - a Soap and Glory gift box to the OH's flat to keep my bits and pieces in that I keep at his. That way the box is out of my house and it keeps his room organised!

So true, since starting to seriously declutter my house I have found it easier over time, as seeing the space it creates gives me the motivation to carry on, but it was really hard to get rid of even the most useless of things in the beginning. My OH finds it a lot easier to bin things, and used to try to get me to get rid of things we didn't need, but I was emotional about, and I would be almost in tears at the thought of it.Sylvia1982 wrote: »I need advise, just wondering if i could donate 2 exercise mats to CS or should i just bin them? I would donate them, I know I often used to look in the CS in the hope of finding one when I wanted one.mavisangelica wrote: »I am hoping that at the end of the month when I see on paper (on screen) how much I have got rid of then I will be brave enough to tackle the stuff I am emotionally attached to, such as my son's pram, cot, etc that is in the loft. Son is now 17 and there is no chance I will have another.
I know that feeling, my son was 30 last July and I only got rid of his baby stuff recently, when we had loft insulation put in and had to empty the loft. I dumped his cot, pushchair, highchair and a ride on/rocking dog toy amongst other things, and even got rid of most of the baby clothes I had up there, but still had to keep some things that I'm too sentimental about.

Ditch 100 in January Challenge 9/100
8) 12 empty alcohol bottles from the kitchen to the recycling: I thought they were a new collection but no!
9) Consolidated 2 lots of golden granulated sugar into 1 jar.
Strangely enough, no extra rubbish generated yet. Just a bag a day as usual.
