Got a bit of running around to do in the morning but will try to get rid of some stuff when we get back.......

Not much done here today either..... just one item to chuck

    6. Lid of Pyrex casserole that has a big chip out of it and is dangerous

I am actually feeling that I'm going backwards, as I've been out shopping this week and brought in far more than I have decluttered. Most of it is for the store cupboard, some for Christmas presents and the rest for emergency bags. Plus I've been given bits for the 2 tombolas I am running, one in a couple of weeks, one on 21st November. Once I've got organised and wrapped the tombola prizes they can go up in the loft. The emergency bag stuff will go into a rucksack/holdall and put under the stairs. All other stuff goes in the garage on the store cupboard shelves. So none of it will be left lying around... it's just that until I put it all away the place looks terribly cluttered again!:o

It's very hard trying to prepare for Christmas, prepare for winter and get bags organised when I'm also trying to declutter and have less stuff in the house!!!

What happens to opened packets of any foodstuff at the moment?
They are usually resealed with a peg and put back on the shelf

Do you have an emergency store of items just in case you can't get out or a store cupboard for making the most of a budget? Where does that live and is it the best place for it?
No, no separate store, only have one base unit cupboard suitable for tinned foods.

Everything that was in your old kitchen: did it need to live in the kitchen:D
Not new, this is all we ever had :(

How big are the new cupboards?
Big enough to house a 10" dinner plate in depth

When did you last use the small appliances?
Have a very difficult to access base corner cupboard where I keep hand blender, proper blender, small food processor and all baking tins

Are there things that only come out at Christmas? (I'm thinking big foil, large dishes etc) Only a vintage turkey platter and that has to live on top of the wall unit

What do you have that you can already use?
Bog all :rotfl: got nowhere to keep "spare" things.

    Basically have:
One cupboard housing cooking machinery & baking trays
one cupboard housing one saucepan set plus 2 frying pans
One cupboard housing toaster and spices in a box
One cupboard housing tea/coffee/sugar/biscuits and other "dry" foods
One half cupboard housing pasta, casserole dish and various spreads and salt/pepper
One half cupboard housing rice/spaghetti and sauce bottles/jars

suzeesu2000: Can you get, or do you have, anything to enable you to use the full height of shelves? Stacking boxes for example or wire shelves to give you a second level. I asked about "did everything in the kitchen need to be there" as I have heard tales of the kitchen being an extra garage:D

Yep, think it has to be the storage boxes, they stack as younsay, so will give me extra room, ever tried stacking them slippery pasta bags

Thanks for enabling me to choose. Shall see what I can find. Have repurposed two tins to hold my seashells in craft store, also found an old plastic biscuit box which is now holding biscuits in the cupboard, has ALL biscuits in and has made room. So, although stuff isn't going out, I am ridding clutter!

Have a great day all :)

Sorted a cleared a pile of magazines in the bedroom - some to keep,
17&18 some to bin some to CS.
I just have a wii9 fit set to sort. It's brand new, but have had it for a year, so not likely to use it now. Gonna sell that. Once that is done, just a good clean for the bedroom, and then on to Kitchen.
OH said this morning that once I had finished my room he would start on his model making room!! I couldn't stop laughing - he keeps everything in case he can "use" it! I said he didn't have to wait for me, he could start now - his face dropped!! I thought so lololol.

It is 2 years and 2 days since I moved here with the intention of shedding a 2nd household and general decluttering. Today I have finished the '2nd household' and I am so relieved. The general decluttering can continue but it's more on the 'normal' scale (I hope).
    To freecyclers:
15 saucepans etc, 14 kitchen utensils, 4 tea towels, 1 chest of drawers, 1 bookcase, 3 cookery books, dustpan & brush, iron, slow cooker, kettle, vacuum cleaner, tea pot, clothes airers, thermos flask
    To bin:
cracked eggcup, 1 pair socks, 2 seagrass baskets nibbled by mouse, 1 old ugly lampshade
old (unused) open toothpicks – fire
    3 newspapers - friend
    1 book to recycling
I now need to have a different approach to my day, making decluttering perhaps one hour each morning - and start doing normal things each day. Not sure what those 'normal' things will be. I have retired and moved to a new area, so it will be very good deciding what to put in place of 'Getting Rid of Stuff'. I could not have done that without this thread - I would have drifted on for another year or so. Thank you all :A for being there and for your encouragement.

Wow thats a lot of decluttering well done you.

I have had a rest after completely clearing my bedroom decorating and replacing carpet and furniture. It looks great and makes me feel so much better.

Today I have completely decluttered my bathroom, didnt take long as I have been doing this on and off since it was completely refitted by my housing trust.

Next plan is to do the kitchen, now that will take some time as I am a great hoarder of gadgets and stockpile food for an army.
Still I think I can make a big dent in it by Christmas.

Tommorow I am going to lunch with family in Birmingham and have decided to take all their christmas presents and store them in my Brothers loft, more space for me and as none of them are wrapped, three Santa sacks for the kids, we have planned a get together in late November and have a wrapping session, did this last year and we all enjoyed it.
