Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

I've done a huge amount of housework today and have also managed a declutter:
4-6 three pictures to cellar space
7 one bag to charity shop
8 one cat basket to cellar space
9 one foot stool to cellar
10 one draught excluder to cellar
11-13 three ornaments to cellar.
Plus all the paper recycling and four bottles out.0 -
My progress is slow but steady thanks to your support.
Old headboard to the tip.
More of DS old bank statements shredded.
Junk mail binned.
Two chipped plates binned at last! You wouldn't believe me if I told you how long I'd kept them in that state. The service just looked better with a full set of plates stacked neatly in the cupboard.
More glass to recycling.
I intend to do a bit more tomorrow after usual housework session.0 -
 WOWZER!!! Everyone has been VERY busy, good on yer!
I too have not been letting the grass grow.
1 - glass ship ornament - cs
2 - huge box of bric-a-brac - cs
3 - enormous sack of fabric remnants - cs
4/13 - DVds - cs
14 - Box set DVDs - cs
16 - pile of newspapers - recycling bin

Also decluttered one chicken carcas and some veg into chicken soup! Enough for today and the freezer too.

Well, I carried on yesterday and did one more trip to CS. :j The bottom of the wardrobe was just full of stuff - clothes that had not been worn for over four years. It comes too close to hoarding to keep me happy!
I have also now got a carrier bag full of work papers which I shall take back today and stick in the confidential paper console for shredding. Why I have 1) got them at home or 2) kept them for over a year escapes me.
Think the next wardrobes will have to be floor - ceiling so that nothing can get stored on top. Madness.
My little red mini Dell laptop came to light too. Won't give that away!
Reading all posts here does inspire me to head back into the chaos and sort it all out. And the decisions are getting easier now too, after about three years of 'sorting out' and getting rid of some stuff and putting other stuff back I am now being RUTHLESS - do you hear me out there? RUTHLESS! :rotfl:
Never mind 'keep dancing' - I will 'keep clearing'.0 -
out went 8 sold items to ebay, next 10 to list later in week only doing 8 at a time as cant handle listing 40 items and posting in 1 go , did it last year oh refused to go to post office each day so had to drive to 4 different ones on alternate days well i was selling over 50 things in 1 week. NEVER again .
this made me smile
Not much happening at my end.
No-show freecycler for the rubber ducks, even after I left them outside in a bag as I wasn't going to be home at the weekend. Lucky they didn't get wet though being ducks am sure they wouldn't have minded  Got fed up so have offered them to someone else. Watch this space.
Listed a cataplana on Freecycle, hopefully being collected tonight. I bought it on holiday in Portugal about 10 years ago and have never used it.
I got my Amazon £31 credit for the books I traded in and promptly spent it on a book by Iman on Hair and Beauty and a pre order of Zumba Core for the wii
I really think this forum is helping me to look at my things in a new light and I am able to make better decisions as to what to keep and what to get rid of now. A year or even 6 months ago I would never have contemplated giving away the ducks but now I find it incredible I have kept them so long. If they are just languishing in a draw they're not doing much good so they may as well go to someone who will use them. It also helps that there are so many ways of disposing of stuff ie CS, Freecycle etc. Gives me an added incentive.0 -
Im going to be ruthless with my willow tree figures. Ive been dithering as i love them but decided i could part with 1/2 (about 3) and make some cash whilst im at it to fund Xmas presents, just got to decide which 3 lol
Need to photograph some things for Ebay and im determined to get my suitcase for charity full to the brim before i take it
How do people lead a minimalist lifestyle? I hope to reach somewhere close to that someday, with 3 kids :rotfl: but i can try!

Just received my hamper of tomato products, packaged in four small boxes, which are now flattened and ready to go to the "preparation for moving" area (when we have sorted thie flipping garage out ) along with a huge quantity of bubble wrap. For now it is all stacked neatly out of the way.
Foodbank collecting their bag of foods Wednesday morning and RSPCA are collecting all their stuff on Friday so will actually have two new holes....:rotfl: I realise how funny that now looks :rotfl:.

listed 3 willow tree figures! and put a photoframe aside for charity. Fixed my butter dish and the kids toy hoover
rearranged the dining room/Family room and hoovered. So knackered now but it looks a bit better i think.
Sorting tupperware atm so will have a load of odds and sods to throw out tomorrow hopefully. Oh and throwing 2 old cushions and covers. Going to make some new ones, maybe tonight. I have the fabric and the filling so may as well as i hate my old ones.

Hi everyone,
Not been on for a while as I had nothing to report but I have started decluttering again this weekend.
1 Bag of clothes to refuge.
2 Bag of rags to CS (there was a notice in the window asking for them).
3-11 Eight earring boxes on free cycle.
Hopefully I will reach 100 in October.
Happy decluttering everyone.:)0 -
Been very slow here for the past few days, due to my feeling rubbish and can't be bothered to do anything. Hopefully this feeling will pass and I'll be able to get cracking again. Not much going to happen this week, have got daughter and grandson staying as their house is being adapted for grandson's needs (he's disabled). The place looks like a bomb's hit it with all their stuff; just hope we don't have any viewers for the house this week!
Hubby has actually decluttered a couple of bits:
7. CD writer - going to charity shop
8. Book - charity shop
Still decluttering, if very slowly. Not a lot left to sort now, just a matter of going through everything again and seeing if I can hone it down any more (thinking of craft stuff here mostly).
So.... happy decluttering, will be back when I've more to report!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
