From mysimplerlife.com website. I downloaded it but have changed bits to suit me and my lifestyle, gives a good idea of how to get organised though.
Fab. Dowloaded it...will change it a bit to suit me too. Thanks!:j0 -
well. we have to declutter, pack all our stuff and put that into storage,
then support my MIL to declutter so we can move in with her temporaly... well for a few months at least.:)
but getting my MIL to part with stuff is really hard. even stuff that really has past it...
we have started an flabay pile and a CS pile, which is a start.
so wish me luck. I think I am going to need it ..:eek:today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

101. Holdall to take everything to charity shop (going to try again after last week's failure)
Still haven't got rid of a holdall. Hubby was even more insistent this week that it didn't go! It was a different one from last week, and quite a good one, just excess to needs. So I have to subtract one item from September's total again. This holdall is now going to become our 'grab bag' with essential items in it in case of emergencies.
Did manage a few bits over the weekend:
102. 1 water jug filter (taken to Argos for recycling)
103. 6 printer ink cartridges (taken to Rymans for recycling)
104. My purse - had split and my cards were in danger of falling out every time I opened it. Put in dustbin
105. Bottle of wine opened and drunk with friends
106. Dead mouse: this was running around in the kitchen Saturday morning, causing us to have a major clean up in the kitchen and lay a mousetrap down as the mouse had hidden itself. I did want to try and find it and shoo it out into the garden but was overruled by OH, as we had viewers coming to see the house and it wouldn't look too good if it ran out while they were there!
So my total for September is 106. I am amazed I got that high as I've been decluttering for 4 months on here, and got rid of tons of stuff before that. October might be slower as I don't have too much left to sort out, but will give it a good go!
Well done on your totals everyone, every item out of the house means a tidier house, even if it doesn't make much of a difference at first. Good luck for October!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Good luck cornishchick both with the things to declutter and the MIL support. It can be hard when people are not quite there yet - though I see from a later post that there are ways to persuade her deluttering is not all bad. :rotfl:
I've had a good start this morning - I went into the garage and targeted a couple of boxes. One was easy to thin out (and contents put into smaller box) - I might return to that one. The other was one of two large boxes of Christmas decorations - I NEVER have much up as I'm always away for Christmas, so I'm hoping to start listing those for freecycle. I've brought in another box to store my cs things so that corner of the room will soon look better. I'm daring to give myself the end of October as a deadline for the Big Declutter.

2 books to cs

Yes good luck with supporting your MIL. I had a similar thing with a family member who declared it was 'really liberating' when she finally let go of a massive pile of stuff for the charity shop.
Yesterday I had a really good sort out of my food and baking cupboards. Nothing out (apart from an out of date jar of star anaise that was mostly empty) as they were only done a few months ago all are nicely reorganised. I ran loads of stuff down before going on holiday so it was a good time to do it. It meant that I actually went shopping with a list yesterday and didn't buy any duplicates as I usually end up doing.
Also went to the charity shop and donated a pile of books from when I was a child; lots of plastercine because my DD prefers play doh and other random play doh bits (from clearing out the play doh box and stream lining it so it all fits neatly!); a fruit bowl not to my taste; a ceramic dish; and four matching mugs that were getting a bit tatty. I was pleased because I bought an Usborne Fairies Jigsaw book for my DD while I was there for a £1 in perfect condition. These are quite expensive and she will love it so it is in the birthday present pile now.
Then I cooked HM chilli for the freezer and Thai red curry for tea (plus as it turns out enough for 6 extra portions!). I put potato, butternut squash, cherry tomatoes and mangetout in it so it ended up going a long way!
Gosh I feel tired just thinking about yesterday now. Most I have done on the tidying and organising front for ages. Still what I realised from my food cupboards is that it makes life so much easier if you sort through each space a few times a year. I couldn't believe how quick it was.
I would like to join the challenge for October. I have made a start today by listing my old sofa on ebay that is sat cluttering up the garage.

Well when I thought I joined this challenge I didn't think I would have much to get rid of as my DH is always saying we have not got a lot of things! Anyway for some reason I am still able to find stuff, and getting to 100 is a great motivator! Thanks everyone!
Ok so for today so far and its only 9am!
7. 2 random glasses
8. 1 toy
9. Old T-shirt
10. Bathroom cupboard old meds (thanks for every said about this in the thread I didn't even think to look at the exp dates! Cleared loads of cupboard space with this one.)
11. Water float thingy
12. Bottle holder
13. Old towels
14. More baby clothes
15. Hmmm I changed my sig to 15 so there must of been something else, can't remember now so I am just off to find something to sling!
Good luck everyone for October!0 -
Ok two more for me:
15. A bag that holds bags
16. Lotion that is about 3 years old opened and used about 4 times!0 -
September Sling 95/100
Well I never got back to declare my September total so here goes
84-86 3 x Books - School Book Sale
87-88 2 x Books - School Library
89-90 2 x Mcd's Toys - Little boy @ school
91 Printer box - recycling (filled with shredded paper)
92 Printer packaging - bin
93 bag of tatty bubble wrap - Bin
94 kids fishing set - Charity
95 newspapers, junk mail & supermarket mags - recycling
Well not quite 100 but am surprised how much more I keep finding. Now to start "October outtage" :TGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Thank you so much all those who gave advice & links on ebay. I don't know how to mutli quote but thank you to those who responded.
I have started the declutter by filling the dining room with all the surplus things I thought that would help me keep the other area tidy & make me focus on sorting it all out. This declutter stuff is going to be a part time job!!!!
I have had some brilliant news about moving to a much cheaper property next year so now I have a deadline to work to which will be a good incentive for me.
Off to pile it up!Frugal Challenge £9000
