Question of the day: Can pigpen reach the 2,000,000 mark by Sunday? :rotfl:

You are doing AMAZINGLY! Can there be anything left for October?

    Hi

I used to post in here a long long time ago. I haven't been around much online for months now. My house is starting to look pretty cluttered and I am already worrying about clearing the mess before Christmas:eek:
The conservatory is still full of eBay stuff. I have been steadily selling on there, but need to up my game to get it cleared. I'm sick of seeing it now, I want it all gone. I have set myself a target figure to raise for October to add to our holiday fund for a big trip we want to make next year. I've also got myself a seller pack for a local NCT sale so need to get that filled up next week. I think I may have to say that whatever is left in the conservatory by December 1st goes to charity, that seems like a good deadline, just not sure that I'll actually be able to part with it all if it comes to that :o

Today I sorted the newspapers, mags and leaflets at the side of the sofa, which I've not done for a couple of weeks, so I ended up with 2 big carrier bags full for recycling.

I've been off work this week, but because OH was also off I didn't get much decluttering done, but tomorrow (weather permitting) he is going to do some gardening, so I will try to get some sorting out done.

  • Hubby used to be an avid Telegraph reader, never went a day without so, by Sunday, we had enough newspaper for a small country! since he has been ill, he has not been able to get to the newsagents daily (and they don't have a delivery option) so we have hardly any newspapers at all, it's wonderful!! :j

The very small amount we have now I am using for papier mache craft items - just made a lovely piggy bank which cost nothing and used only newspaper and some old emulsion paint. :T

Finally got the last of the fabric stash into it's permanent home, so although not thrown out, is definitely decluttered.

Planning a quiet weekend this weekend, still thinking about what's got to be done in October. there won't be any eBaying as I cannot find anything else to sell just yet.

Have a great Saturday all :)

  • Good morning all

It's great to read of people coming to natural pauses in their decluttering - we all know it must come sometime but for some of us it just feels a little further away. My aim has been to go through everything, remove duplicates etc gained from other family members, and clear out stuff that is no longer me. I'm renting a large house just so I can see what's around me and as I progress, I'm working towards a couple of empty rooms. When I get there I will be ready to downsize and get into a place for myself rather than one for my Stuff. So things move around the house and when I get near to emptying a room the last bits get put into my bedroom and I'm dealing with them all the time. The corner of the sitting room is my cs corner and once in there, things only go out of the house, not back into general use. It's been working for me and I really hope to get it all done (including the garage ) by the end of October.

    So far today:
    3 pillow cases to cs
    6 books to recycling/cs
4 cushions to church (keeping a few people a little warmer!)
1 small woven basket to cs
1 old birthday card - kept for no reason - to recycling
1 worn pr socks to bin
  • Back again!!! Not been around much as my finances and survival have been taking up all of my time/energy. Now they are under control, my attention turns to my home. I live in a really tiny appartment with very little storage space. Let's just say the junk is almost walking out of the door to greet me! If I am not careful I will end up looking like someone from those hoarding programmes.

So hopefully 100 items for me.

I bet I could.. it may require flinging more boxes from the loft but the house is held up by all the crap in it.. I am starting to think my heating bills are half what they should be because my house is so full of crap there is less air to warm.. junk insulation.. the next new thing!!!!

I am starting to wonder if I count as a hoarder!!!

Surely it would be an ex-hoarder! But please don't leave us for the wonderful hoarding ladies - I'd so miss the chuckles you give me with your lists!
  • Well I'm back in for decluttering properly next week. Just posted 2 items and have a lot more to eBay etc. Going to start deep cleaning the house too, a few hours each day as it really needs doing!
