  • Just one for me today as working:6 one book to cs

I think even one is good - still moving in the right direction - and a book at that!

    1 pinboard to freecycler
    1 ringbinder - bin
25 misc folders, pocketfiles etc to recycling
1 pack paper serviettes - to a visitor who could make immediate use of them
  • Thanks silentsister.I have a fair few books that I 'could' declutter.I just have to read them first. Some I've had for over 15 years and not read (a Mozart biography is one,for some reason,I can't get into it,but would hate to put it out unread).

I do have a partially read book on the psychology of clutter and how to ' let go'-partially read.:oI must sit down and read it from cover to cover. It could help me...

I'm off this weekend, but because I have visitors next week,I think that my energy will be taken up by cleaning and some tidying.

You never know, tidying might involve some decluttering.

Hope you all have a relaxing weekend.

  • At long last I've started decluttering my clothes and actually got some of the decluttered stuff out of the house today, to the charity shop.

    43. 2 items of clothing in rag bag for CS
    44. 6 items clothing
    45. Baby bath
    46. Curtain that I don't need any more
    47. 1 net curtain bought the wrong length
    48. 1 coat hanger

    oh, and

    49. 1 mouldy tub of pate in the bin

Long way to go on the clothes front yet... I need a free couple of hours to clear everything out of wardrobe and drawers and have a long trying on session.... and hopefully chuck out more than I keep. I'm a terrible hoarder of clothes (mostly from charity shops as I can have good quality brands for less money), and I also buy 'for when I've lost weight'. I also imagine when and where I could wear that particular item of clothing.... so far, I don't think I've ever worn it when I thought I would! So... lots have to go.... watch this space!

  • This morning I checked a record case to see what was in it - papers belonging to an aunt who died 3 years ago. But those papers turned out to be an electricity bill dated 2000 and lots of empty envelopes - all now recycled. I moved onto a filing drawer (wrong size to be any use) and found it filled with records. I've kept a few that I would like to download onto the computer, and stored those in the record case. The others have gone back into the filing drawer and all are headed for the cs.
1 old bill - dealt with
1 unused envelope put with stationery
    17 used envelopes - recycling
    21 vinyl records - cs
    1 filing drawer - cs

    Morning everyone,

After last weeks magnificent car boot total my decluttering has rather fallen by the way side this week. I have gone back to work and it has been really busy, I hope to be more motivated this weekend.

So here goes, the sum total for this week.

    1-2 Books returned to friends.
3-5 broken tupperware containers to bin.

    Happy decluttering everyone.:)

Tupperware must have made a fortune out of us all. In the days of the tupperware parties, who would have thought that we would still be hanging on to it - broken, lidless, hardened!
  • Still in the garage … Found an empty box that used to be filled with Christmas wrapping paper – recycled. Another box of old 33’s – to be gone through at leisure but meantime re-stored in a record box, and the cardboard box recycled (so pleased it’s recycling collection week coming up!). The plastic box that stored old frames has been cleaned up and is on its way upstairs to be a sorting box. I think my decluttering has been energised by the thought of a cs collection team coming here just because I asked them – I need to make the best use possible of this service.
1 pot cleaning putty to cs
1 large china jug to cs
12 photo frames / pictures to cs
1 small ornate box to cs
1 small ornate bowl to cs
1 miniature Dutch house received on a KLM flight in 1965 to cs
2 nearly burnt candles in glass holders - binned
2 candles in holders to cs
1 box night lights to cs (and I’ve not even started on the huge candle box!)
    1 tin opener to cs
1 box of glassware from garage put in kitchen cupboard, not yet sorted but at least it’s in the right room.
    1 kitchen scales to freecycler
