  • My fingers have blisters! Have spent the last three or is it four days, sorting, photographing, cleaning and describing for eBay. Have 150 items listed and am fairly confident most of them will go, if not sold this time will realist once then remainders will be off to charity shop.

Everything - all FIVE boxes(!!!!!!!) is stacked tidy out of the way.

Roll on this weekend so I can starting posting it off

    Have a great evening all

Holy cr*p suzeesu2000, they are going to love you at the post office but well done. Am very impressed. Puts my 9 items in the shade ;)
Three of my items have bids with a gazillion watchers on the others, hello kitty clock and mouse mat being collected this evening by freecycler and dr who mags are going on saturday. Just recycled an empty body mist from Avon. Do you notice that you get to halfway quite quickly and then it just seems to stay at that level for months no matter how much you use it! :(

I'm overwhelmed by the amount of decluttering I need to do and the deep cleaning which will have to follow (for which I will need help as I have limited mobility). The place is chaotic and it's really depressing me as DH is a bit of a hoarder - actually the place is filthy, and Kim and Aggie would have things to say. I keep the front curtains mainly closed because I'm so ashamed of the place. I'm going to start in one corner of one room (probably the coffee table in the bay window) and just take it slowly - put things away, and throw things out. I will take books and old videos to charity shops bit by bit in my trolley. Once I start I'm sure I'll get enthusiastic about it all but for now I'm still gritting my teeth and girding my loins! I have to accept I can't do it in a day, but if I can have a decent amount done before I go back to work in October, I'll be happy and hopefully in a position to keep on top of it all.

Great to have you here Tiglath, you are among friends. You have made the first steps, identified where you want to start and little by little you will see a difference. By the end of a week you'll be so encouraged to see the coffee table, and as you sit by it with your cuppa you'll be wearing a smile and planning your next move. Others will be here soon to chat to you but we are all in the same boat or were until we started decluttering. For me it helped to have an aim - perhaps 100 things a month, or 5 a day - whether that meant getting things out of the house (or into a cs trolley) or just finding the right home for it. Once you've started it's easier to get someone in to help with the cleaning so forget that for the moment. You will make a difference :)

Ended up being 2 hours but i got 3 bin bags full of rubbish from upstairs (it did include emptying the lounge and bedroom bin into them which were full). Got a carrier bag for charity, 2 carriers to sell and a carrier of stuff to give away to others. Ive also got a pile of stuff im unsure what to do with. Going to get a tray/box for these things and give a week to sort otherwise it all goes in the bin :)

Bedroom is looking much better, im feeling much better! :T When the little ones are in bed ill be tackling the paperwork ive got upstairs and might make a start filling the many photo frames i have lingering around empty that i want to put up.

Going to do a tip run tomorrow morning to get rid of it all. Just need the husband to move the spare wardrobe off the landing now and it will be clear up there :) ready for the cleaner on monday (2 hours professional cleaning free, as a gift from a friend :o as ive not been able to stay on top of cleaning recently due to my pregnancy.)

  • Not much done today. Sorted out bedding and found a new home for it. I put some books on freecycle and there was no response, but I might have a better home for them on Monday.
1 pair LED lights - freecycler
    1 book - recycled

I've chucked out a plastic bag of rubbish from the front room, done several days' worth of washing up including grill pan, pots and pans, rinsing tins and jars for recycling, and wiped kitchen surfaces. I'm in such pain now I can barely think and had a secret cry in the bathroom, so will give DH instructions on how to do dinner when his programme finishes. I haven't eaten anything today and can't really face much but I suppose I have to make an effort with a few mouthfuls.

    -3 glass jars recycled
-one big curtain to Mum (she already has the other)
    - one big blanket to Mum or cs

That's it...:o Better than nothing though.

I'll have to catch up later with the posts.Happy decluttering!

9 items out are better than even 1 item in so well done you!

And I am glad someone else suffers from half bottle syndrome, I thought it was something magic which only happened in our house!:rotfl:
