    Morning everyone,

We had a really successful car boot on sunday and we sold over 100 things and made over £100!

Therefore my target for September better be 200 items as 100 have gone already.:D

I am back at work now so decluttering will have to take a backseat but I am still determined to keep up the good work.

    Happy decluttering everyone.:)
  • Welcome morganlefay and happytails :hello:

moorhen that's a great result at the bootfair

    8. socks worn through - in the bin
    9. wheelie bin out for household waste collection
    10. packing boxes ripped up and in the cardboard recycle bin
    11. old magazines - in paper recyle bin
    12. various bits of plastic - in the bin

Today's task is to tackle the mound of carp in the corner of the living room, the mound of carp in the hall and to do a decent batch of shredding.

    **happy decluttering folks**

    Hello

Training day at school today, children back in tomorrow. Whilst at school DH took delivery of our new drawers for our paper/pens/homework supplies etc.

The eight drawers are now full, I found so much paper for the printer it has actually filled two drawers.

    Have got rid of

    Scraps of paper (recycling)
    Pencils (school)
Broken/dried up pens, pencils, felt pens (bin)
Bits of rubbers, pencil sharpeners (bin)

When a drawer of paper has been used up all our office type stuff will be kept in one place.

    Have a good evening declutterers.

  • Hi Guys I haven't been in for a while as have been super busy. I've been tidying for a while rather than decluttering and making sure everything has and is in it's right home. I also have a car or two full of stuff in the downstairs loo (we don't use it luckily) to go to the tip.

Beautiful day here so spent the afternoon in the garden, rounding up all the plantpots I don't need. So...

    5. Stack of plantpots offered on Freecycle.
    6. Canvas with a picture of a flower on it. CS.
7-10 Shower gel bottles, all the same with just a little bit left in each, decanted into one. Recycling.
    11. Carrierbag full of magazines to doctor's surgery.

Tonight off to tackle a stack of OH's paperwork, ashamed to say some of it dates back to 1996!

    Evening.

Today we've brought in more than we've thrown out (or charitied) LOL Got a massive box full of learning tools/toys for the kids (we are home schooling (more of a reason to be organised)), We also got a sand/water table half price in argos, 2 new duvets for the kids (1 of the old ones and 2 pillows are in the bin, the other duvet is spare for emergences). Got a doorbell and some batteries too along with 2 dresses from Ebay, which dont fit right so getting relisted today.

Decluttering, i did sort out around my desk today and got a carrier bag full. I also took 3 books from the kids collection, 2 will be listed on ebay and one for charity. Ive got 2 big bags of mega bloks for charity/SIL when i get round to asking her.

Going to do some de cluttering in my bedroom, not sure what but dont plan on leaving it unless its for the bathroom and my bath :)

How do people decide between getting rid of something or keeping it just in case. I really struggle to decide and know if i throw it im bound to need it soon after but at the same time if im not strict im not going to get very far :(

  • ilHi Everyone, hope you've all had a good day.

Well.... I finally sat myself down with my boxes of rubber stamps, and have kept 30 (so far!!). However, I have found out 75 that I don't use/want, so they will be off to the charity shop next time I go to town (prob Friday). Have finally realised that I am a full blown Procrastinator: all those beautiful stamps have never been used... I was always intending to use them 'one day', but never have. Have had the 'light bulb' moment, so it's easier to part with them.

Today's tombola at the McMillan coffee morning in the library went well. We had about 17 prizes, and made £40 altogether from the tombola. Only 5 prizes left over, which another lady is taking to give to her daughter who is also running a McMillan coffee morning later this month.

    So.. today's haul:

    16. Book of raffle tickets used on tombola, remainder of book given to friend
    17. 75 rubber stamps - going to a charity shop
    18. Empty Calpol bottle found in baby changing basket (think granddaughter liked to play with it!)
    19. Packaging from pillow (nice zipped one with transparent front - I'm sure it would come in useful sometime if I kept it!) - all rubber stamps are in it for CS

Not a lot today, but if I counted all the rubber stamps individually I'd nearly be at my September target!

And if I stopped procrastinating about decluttering, and actually got on and decluttered the things on my decluttering list, I could probably reach it by the middle of the month!!
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

That's how our homes have become so full; we are all keeping things "just in case".

I think you have to seriously look at what you have and what you really NEED. For example, I couldn't get anything else in the wardrobe, packed full. My aunty said she has a system for clothes: if you haven't worn it in the last year the chances you are going to wear it again are nil. Following this guidance, my wardrobe now has ALL of mine AND hubby's clothes in it! I have eBayed and charity shopped loads of clothes.....and I have not missed one single thing.

As you clear an area and see a difference, it becomes infectious.
