Good morning all
I've started dipping into the hoarding thread - I'm nowhere near there but it touches all kinds of "keep it, just in case..." nerves. So far this morning I've put 18 items onto freecycle and bringing one of them in from the garage came across
3 empty plastic bottles
2 toothbrush covers
- all "just in case" so they are now in the bin.0 -
SS.. I can so identify with that, esp after looking through some of the crap in my loft.. most of which is now binned!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Morning all.
There have been some stellar efforts from you over the last few days. Well the ebaying I had planned for this weekend ended in frustration as I didn't know they put a limit on the amount of things you can list in a month and I then had to apply for an increased limit. I was sooo angry as I was in full flow of photographing and listing. And something tells me the validation whatsit they send in the post will take ages to arrive so I will miss the 9 day odd window of free listings. Not happy.
The good news is of the things I did manage to list bidding has already started on the No Angels box sets and there are numerous watchers for some of the other items. I also had the DIY Manual picked up by a lovely Freecycler on Saturday afternoon. Bless him he said are you sure you want to get rid of it. I said I've had it over 10 years and never even opened it so believe me it's fine
The hello kitty clock and mouse mat are still languishing at home. Hopefully a freecycler will be collecting Thursday evening. I am also going to put some Dr Who magazines on freecycle today and maybe remove some of the stuff I've listed on ebay and replace them with things I think will be more likely to sell. Slowly but surely a few gaps are appearing in the loft :j0 -
Hello ! I'm a lurker on here and have spent the past 18 months trying to declutter my house to sell it. I still have about a quarter of my belongings in storage (my daughter and s-i-l got a van and took much stuff away to store because they said we'd never sell with all my stuff hanging around - and they were right.) We've sold and 2 weeks ago we moved. (Which was completely awful, but that's another story)The house we moved from had masses of cupboards all full of my things, this one has almost none. So I have been chucking out (frecycling, charity shopping etc) for the past 18 months. And what I wanted to say is that hoarding is something you can learn to stop doing. Today I am sending about 40 pairs of completely unworn tights to the charity shop (I've got a tiny bit too big for them) Perhaps they'll bin them. I don't care. I also got rid of lots of things which had special memories for me but when I really thought about it I couldn't remember what they were . I will never be without hoarding instincts, but I did just want to say that it can be fought, and now when I find a good home for something I feel really good, not awful at all. I wish I'd felt like this years ago :beer:0

Inspired by this thread, may i join? Im Sarah, i have a husband, 2 kids (3.5 and 20m) and a baby due in 9 weeks. We have a 17m Pointer and 5 chickens
Got £20k + of debt to shift and hoping a declutter will earn us a bit extra to pay off some of this debt
Im trying to declutter slowly. Mainly Ebaying everything i can to get the Debt i have down. So its Ebay or Bin for now (maybe with the odd charity run of things that arent shifting)
I tried to do the book shelves the other day, got about 1/2 carrier bag of junk (not books, just junk that id put up there) binned so it looks better but we are book hoarders so i might come back to those when im feeling a bit more positive i dont need all of them lol
Got 2 blankets to pass on to MIL who is having a baby in March (we really dont need as many blankets as we had!!)
This evening im going to go through the stuff on my desk and the Ebay boxes and take photos of things i havent listed yet. Im then going to go for a nice relaxing bath and then try and make a dent in my bedroom.

Hello happytails, welcome to the club!
It's a good few days to list on eBay as they are doing a free listing until 8th or 9th of September, which is great for when you are having a declutter!
Poor old hubby is still not good, another day of resting - this heat hurts him so much poor old soul.
Have managed to list 100 lots for sale on eBay, tomorrow I shall be photographing more and listing same. I think I have easily another 50 - 80 to go:eek:Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Also found a load of fundraising leaflets with out of date info on them while sorting, so
11. Out of date fundraising leaflets - recycling bin
Did a few errands today and got rid of...
12. 2 egg boxes - back to egg farm
13. 1 anniversary card and cheque - to daughter and son-in-law
14. 1 thank you card to mum & dad's bowls club for letting us sell cards on Saturday
15. 24 bags of bronze coins taken to PO to change - now got notes and £1 coins
Going to go through my rubber stamps tomorrow and see if there's any I can bear to part with (shouldn't be a problem: I don't do rubber stamping any more!). I was an avid collector of rubber stamps at one time, but didn't like using them, only looking at them!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
