Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

  • Just back from a great day at the Paralympics, but I have managed a little:

    1 broken keyring to bin
    2 books to recycling
    4 books to niece
2 sets of kitchen scales to cs
2 dried shoe cleaning containers to bin
1 plastic tray no longer with kitchen scales to bin

How did I manage to hang on to so many kitchen scales - the set I kept reads out the weight and also says Hello and Goodbye!
  • Started on the september target today... 15 assorted bags/boxes of receyling and 27 items into the charity bag. So 42/100 so far.

  • Well, for all my good intentions, not decluttered anything today! I got all my fabric bits out yesterday and started making some cloth bags, but they are still unfinished downstairs, and the spare bedroom has had everything that was tidily hidden away in the cupboard pulled out and is spread all over the floor! I can see shades of how untidy it used to be creeping back. It is so easy to leave things out and have it get into a mess again...

There's not much left to declutter in the way of my craft stuff now, I've done really well at that. Could still hone it down a bit, and will work on that this month.

Clothes still need sorting through and making a decision on. I had a 'wardrobe crisis' this morning: a wardrobe full of clothes and nothing to wear! I need to lose some weight to fit into the really nice stuff, and get shot of the things that do fit that I wear over and over again and are looking shabby.

OOOh, just remembered: I did declutter some cards today. I sold some at my mum & dad's bowling club finals day, so I'll count them as No. 1

    1. About a dozen hand made cards sold

Not sure how many things I'll declutter this month - I'm running out of areas to tackle! Hubby keeps saying that he'd better watch out as things that aren't tied down are in danger of being chucked out!

    Good luck in September everyone.

  • OUT: 3 carboard boxes, content put away.
IN: Cutlery drainer. 4 chairs and 1 tv stand/shelving unit

Well, I needed chairs -I am tired of sitting on the floor. TV unit and shelving useful for getting things off the floor as well. Sorry I'm setting up home so I have to bring things in.

  • Haha iQueen - I think you spoke too soon about me not procrastinating. I've done all the washing and ironing, and been grocery shopping, but I've done no decluttering at all, other than some ingredients I decluttered into 14 choccy cupcakes, which i've slowly been tidying!

Hopefully I'll get on better tomorrow!
  • My head is throbbing like a good 'un.

Have been doing all usual stuff today AND made three apple crumbles for the freezer AND listed 73 DVDs on EBay-talk about telly eyes!!

Poor old hubby is seriously suffering for overdoing it yesterday, has had to be in bed almost all day:( Hope he feels better on Sunday

    Well done all

My lovely brass antique looking alarm clock has been waiting weeks for a new battery, sitting patiently and collecting dust. Finally remembered to buy a battery for my the clock, feeling quite smug that I bought the right dumpy size. I've just replaced it and the clock still doesn't work! DH has looked at it and said the connection is broken and he can not solder it as its too small, so one more thing binned - does this count as a declutter?

I would like to buy another beautiful alarm clock rather than use this white plastic one. It's far more practical than my previous one, it even has a small light and snooze option BUT it's ugly.

Ps. Hope you're both feeling better today Suzeesue2000

That's not procrastinating... that's doing the necessaries, and getting your priorites correct.
