Evening, doing some paperwork/file sorting/decluttering of old papers/letters we dont need anymore. Also got about 30 hangers to take to the charity shop set aside too :)

Not got much energy though so might call it a night soon! This is going to be a loooooong job but feeling ive made some good progress today. Need to be organised and tidy when baby 3 arrives (due in 8 weeks) as ill have 3 kiddies at home full time so if i stand any chance of a stress free home this is my starting point!

  • Not much to report today: had a day at the seaside with hubby, went down to Margate to the new Turner Contemporary art gallery. Was a beautiful sunny day for wandering around the seaside...

Found a couple of bits to go...

    40. 2 liquid washing tablet containers - church group for crafts
    41. Display book that I kept my clear rubber stamps in - charity shop
    42. Car phone charger that didn't charge my phone - bin

That's all folks - not a lot happening decluttering-wise today. Tomorrow is 'going into town' day, so I'll drop all the rubber stamps off at the charity shop, along with a few other bits and pieces.

    Happy Decluttering everyone!
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I've chucked out a plastic bag of rubbish from the front room, done several days' worth of washing up including grill pan, pots and pans, rinsing tins and jars for recycling, and wiped kitchen surfaces. I'm in such pain now I can barely think and had a secret cry in the bathroom, so will give DH instructions on how to do dinner when his programme finishes. I haven't eaten anything today and can't really face much but I suppose I have to make an effort with a few mouthfuls.

Tiglath, do take care of yourself and let DH do his bit. There's no point in having everything looking beautiful if you are in pieces - but even so I bet you were so pleased with what you managed to achieve in the kitchen!

I was pleased - unfortunately I overdid it painwise and didn't get any sleep at all last night. I'm running on empty now but can't sleep, nor can I do anything productive, so I'm writing off today and have cancelled appointments.

  • well the freecycler never turned up last night so was not happy. But just before they were due I decided to put a new battery in the hello kitty clock and the thing wasn't working! so maybe it was a blessing in disguise :( I will now offer it to the next person on the list and mention it doesn't seem to be working but maybe they can get it repaired or something.

Today am going to list on Freecycle all of my Zest magazines for the year so far and a Soap and Glory body mist which came as part of the set I think every woman must have gotten for Christmas last year and which I can't stand. In fact am not a huge fan of the Soap and Glory scent on the whole to be honest, way too sickly sweet.

When I have things for the cs I am piling them up in an area which doesn't get looked at again, but the right doorstep collectors have not been calling. So today I took the initiative of asking for a call - and that means the pile will be gone by the time the next visitor arrives. I'm trying not to get rid of the armchairs before then - but I (almost) can't wait. All the decluttering is so that I can move to a smaller place, so it would be sensible not to buy any replacements until then. And they will be smaller, and they will be chairs that I have chosen, and they will be just right!

ETA I've never bought an armchair for myself before - and I'm now retired!
  • Just a thought, and I am sure someone will have mentioned this ages ago but...

    We now have four boxes
    1 PUT AWAY
    2 GIVE AWAY
    3 THROW AWAY
    4 EBAY

Just moving through the house means you pick up that pen and move it to a box, or the shirt that doesn't fit or the broken shelf bracket etc. At selected times through the month, you remove the box contents to the appropriate place (charity shop/list on eBay etc)

You free the space up, everything is tidy and you deal with it instantly = no procrastinating!

I have been using this method for a little while now and it is amazing how much carp is sitting in full view that we just don't see! An example, yesterday I picked up a till receipt from Iceland....from April....left on my PC trolley....just in case I need it...:o. WHY WOULD I NEED A 4 MONTH OLD FOOD SHOPPING RECEIPT????? I know I kept it "just in case" but I don't know what it was "just in case"of!

I am learning the benefits of dealing with things now and not putting it off or saying I will do it tomorrow.

    Just a thought:)

I don't have the space for 4 boxes-I live in a very small flat!

Just one for me today as working:

    6 one book to cs
