Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

I know it's only 2 months since I moved (after our mega declutter), but I'm still reaping the benefits. The housework takes a fraction of the time. I'm not put off doing the housework by wondering where the hell to start.
Also, I'm still thinking twice about buying more 'stuff'. I avoid TKMaxx and have drastically cut down on buying stuff on ebay.
I do however, need to prune back my shoes more. Will have another look at them tomorrow.
So, for those of you struggling or wondering if this thread is for you, I say go for it! Yes, it can be tiring, stressful and grubby, but the benefits far, far outweigh these.Illegitimi non carborundum.0 -
Hi all, it's time I came back to this thread! We are having our bathroom redone tomorrow so I've had a really good clear out of the cupboards. It felt really good, there was a good carrier bag full of things that I will never use again.
I think I may set myself a challenge for the rest of the month to get rid of 50 things, and not let anything new into the house without getting rid of something else. This will definately bee a challenge.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -

Thats what i need to hear bettie! That the cleaning is easier and takes less time! LOL
Not done a massive amount since the epic sort through last week but i have sorted some Ebay things out into a box rather than strewn over my desk. I put all my paperwork to one side (the new stuff i havent sorted yet) so its all together. I sifted through the crap on my desk and put all my sewing stuff together and managed to get 1 small storage box (10x8" size) with lid and 3 similar sized baskets freed up so pleased with that. Going to sort the paperwork in a moment if the kids will let me.
One night this week im going to aim to find another bag of stuff for the CS and take the 3 bags to the charity shop. Im also going to go through the kids clothes again, see if there is anything i can sell/store away for bump or throw etc.
The Car needs decluttering aswell, im terrible for rubbish and toys in the car. Needs to be done by next weekend as im taking a car full of people to a hen do weekend so need it respectable lol
Hope everyone is being productive! xDFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022

Another area which clutters up so quickly is my email - I never seem to have enough time to deal with the main inbox, let alone look at those filed neatly in sub-folders. I am now trying to unsubscribe from as much as possible when they arrive - I'm sure I'll manage without all those tempting offers - and as I go through the backlog I'll unsubscribe before blocking a page and deleting them. I've got a week before the next invasion so I'm aiming to remove 4000 emails. I'll add that to my sig to remind me.0

19 CD's, 5 DVD's, 8 books, 11 magazines, 5 posters, 2 records and a pack of Doctor Who Top Trumps sold today. A money box, one glass, a bag of rubbish, a bag of paper recycling and a bag of fabric recycling also disposed of. And another book I forgot about... gone!‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.
