Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

Hi,
Is it too late to join??
My shed is full of junk and my loft is threatening to fall in with all of the things I keep putting up there 'just in case'. The trouble is there is so much up there that I can never find anything when I do need it - so what is the point.
My plan is to start with the spare bedrooms, then move on to the shed before eventually tackelling the loft. I will try to put bits on Freecycle each day, will Ebay anything I think will sell and will do a bootsale or two during the summer.
I am notoriously bad at completing challenges, but really need to do this as I am not getting any younger and would hate my children to eventually have to clear out all of my rubbish.
Jess
Welcome - I could have written your post. I find this thread very motivating. Good luck and take things at your own pace -there aren't any gold medals for decluttering first:D0 -
Have been very remiss at posting my progress on here - whenever I have a spare moment there always seems to be something on the Olympics that I "have to watch for a few minutes"
However I have kept up with my decluttering mission though not with counting items out. I was half way through at 50 at the middle of the month so I am confident that I have acheived the 100 in July.
I've shredded loads more stuff, given stuff to charity, used up lots of food from the cupboards and freesers, given a suitcase, beach towels and various other holiday bits and pieces to DS (in use now!) and have had a successful month on ebay. Nothing has sold for a lot of money but lots of little sales add up and what I am most pleased about is that I used the paypal money to buy presents for my nephew and niece (i'm also part of the cash neutral spend on presents challenge) and I still have a balance which hasn't been spent on more things to clutter my house :j
Still loving reading all the inspiring posts on here - some great acheivements - thank you all for your support0 -
Well done to you all for your decluttering, however small but it all adds up.
I am well pleased today over the last month or so I have been sorting out the ivy in the front garden and most of it is gone now. I have made 2 batches of breakfast muffins so have decluttered 2 bags of used up dried fruits. Next weekend I shall start working on the utility room.
Have a nice weekend. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -

Thanks,it was ok,glad that I've just got one more day to do,then off for two days.
I really want to sort out a big pile of loose photos.I think that might have to wait until Monday or Tuesday.
Nothing for today, but now that the inside of my wardrobe is less cluttered,I stored away a portable cd player and a box of photos in the bottom. Also put away a few misc objects that added to the general clutter.0 -

loopychriss I hope you have a lovely holiday.

Thank you Bonie, it's not so much a holiday as a break from normal routine.... We have been at a conference in Birmingham yesterday and today, and tomorrow we're up to Manchester to visit a friend, on the way to Newcastle. We're going to visit Beamish open air museum and the Metro centre! Not as exciting as 2 weeks in Spain, but it's. A break from decluttering!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Today I've taken 2 bags of old clothes to the tip and my Mum gave me a bag of old saucepans and baking trays to take. Slowly getting there! I'm spending the day eBaying today. Have to change all my listings as I can now only post on Saturdays. Am selling lots of clothes but also buying a few new bits so basically rotating my wardrobe0

Oh am sooooo embarressed! Decided to have a roast today, just using up bits out of the freezer. Only potatoes we had were in the bottom of the fridge...peeled them and set aside then glanced at the remains of the bag.....they went out of date in April:eek:Still perfectly fine to use but heavens was I surprised. Also finished off another three bags of frozen veg so freezer declutter going well.
One side effect of the declutter which I wonder if others have found, I do not even have half a black bag of rubbish this week. Normally have two black bags and two recycling bags plus a carrier of food waste, This week have one of recycling, one carrier of food waste and no black sacks at all. Dustybinmen will be happy chaps in the morning:j
Oh, and well done Team GB for such a fabulous show in the Olympics, very proud of them all:T Have a great Sunday all.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

Afternoon all
Took all the stuff that had been decluttered from DS bedroom to the car boot sale today, the car was full and managed to sell most of it, only came back with 1 1/2 bags. I did end up giving all the children's books for free as DS has outgrown them, they were so many that didn't want to have to bring them home again.
Feel absolutely shattered now though!
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend xDeclutter 100 things in August 68/1000 -
