  • 3 bags of rubbish out of bedroom today, several boxes packed up. DD decluttered one of her toys - she ripped a foam ball to pieces - no idea why, think she was trying to stay awake.

Feel like I've made some progress today. Concentrated on some craft stuff and had a big clear out of my ATCs (Artists Trading Cards). These are 3.5" x 2.5" pieces of cards that are decorated in any medium by all sorts of artists. I used to belong to 4 groups that traded them, but haven't done any for a couple of years now. Finally decided to sort them out and have reduced 6 folders full down to 3. Also sorted out my peel off stickers from crafting and have whittled them down to one little box now.

    So....

    107. About 200 ATC cards - taken by freegler
    108. 50 or so pages for trading card albums - taken by freegler
    109. Peel off stickers - going to Sure Start at local library
    110. Bag of cotton wool balls - homeless shelter bag
    111. Tools and instructions for Cricut cutting machine - gone to friend
    112. Remains of a box of cornflakes found lurking in back of cupboard (best before Aug 11)!!!! - went on birdtable
    113. Bottle of Havana club rum - son-in-law
    114. Bag of shredded papers - daughter for bunnies' bedding

Got granddaughter overnight and tomorrow (she's 18 months) so won't be getting much done tomorrow till she goes home in the evening.

Hubby has been going through another big crate of photos tonight, I just have to check through them tomorrow then they can be added on the list. Getting there slowly but surely. I think the trick is not to try and do too much in one day. I find if I write a list for a specific day I only manage one or two things on it. If I do them randomly from the big 'to do' list I find I achieve more.... strange that! Still, it works for me and I don't feel guilty if I don't achieve everything on that day's list.

Sorry, I'm rambling...... One Thing At A Time.... that's the secret to decluttering!!!

You are SO right loopychriss, I used to try decluttering all in one go and it was too big a task. Now I do bite sized bits and have made lots of progress. Got another lot of stuff packaged down from two boxes to just one. So clearing the space makes me feel dead chuffed! :j

I agree with 'little bit a day'. As you can see I've really been focussing on my books this month, but I'm aiming at around 40 per day and that is quite manageable. It also means when I've done that I can focus on other things. Too much pressure on myself would mean I make myself fail. But I do enjoy being amongst others who are fighting the same battles. Thank you all for your encouragement.

Happy Monday morning to you all! Nice to be woken up by bright sunshine :) DH is starting work late tonight going to London apparently they're not allowed during the day due to Olympics. I made plans to go to a nearby splash and play park for a picnic. Nice and cheap way to entertain the kids.
Not a lot yesterday but I got a bag of stuff from the garage and chucked some bits.

18 - odd bits and pieces
19 - a vase - i keep meaning to drop off to cs but keep forgetting, thinking of just binning it.

will add more today. Have a great day! xx

Own your possessions. Don't let them own you.

And this is what goes through my head every time I try to clear some stuff out. It's a real mind-shift.

I would put this in my signature if I didn't already have so much going on down there, but I thought it worth sharing here. Hope it helps someone else. :)
