Decluttering 2012, this year, definitely ...

sue14 I have also had sciatica in the past ,so can empathize.I was prescribed Diclofenac and Valium (a muscle relaxant). This combination was a real help, except that I slept a lot during the day.
I don't know if you know, but the worst thing you can do with sciatica is sit. It's best to lie down, either on your side with a pillow between your legs,or on your back, with a pillow under your knees.Sitting just aggravates it,so it's important to try and avoid sitting as much as possible.Lying down so much also contributed to me sleeping a lot at odd moments-because of the valium. It was a colleague who told me to avoid sitting;she was horrified that I hadn't been told this.I was lucky in that it cleared up,with an occasional twinge from time to time.
Please take it easy and don't worry about the clutter for now!Hope that you're feeling better soon.0 -

Hi all
I hope you soon start feeling better Sue14
I've had an easier day today:
80 Filed or got rid of a large pile of papers, still some shredding to do
81 Put away the cushions that were stopping the pile of papers falling to the floor
82 Forwarded a carrier bag of mail to a previous tenant (who left here 18 months ago!) - and put a sheet of labels by the letter box so I can deal with any new letters immediately rather than piling them up
83 Sent off (very belatedly) a Christmas present for last year and a March birthday present - that cleared the conscience too:o
84 Started on a tiny chest of drawers and found £45:) which saved me going to the cash point
As I've been doing this I am finding I have unused furniture - cd storage racks, a tea trolley, a table drum, a pine table with benches - and it was very liberating to think through whether I want to take them with me when I move, or add them to things leaving the house for good. I think I will always be comfortable with lots of things around me – I love books and a room without a full bookshelf is unfurnished in the silentsister household, but I can choose what those things will be. My possessions can be things I have chosen to keep, rather than have by default through inheritance or carelessly acquired over the years. Very liberating!
