wow im amazed at how much stuff your managing to declutter Chocolatedrinker.

I can't believe how much stuff is going to the cs already and we only moved into here in feb and its our first house! Another big bag of kitchen stuff went to the charity shop friday. I think it's my mum, nan and aunties fault there using mine and my boyfriends first house as an excuse to declutter their stuff onto me :rotfl:

My son leaves school for study leave in a few days time. I was dusting his room earlier and i asked him if he had thought about what he was going to do with his school books after he has completed all his exams. Now usually, my kids do the ceremonial 'destroy the school uniform' on the very last day but not only that, my youngest has decided not only is he going to destroy his uniform we are going to have a bonfire in the garden and burn all his books...... I think he's had enough of school.:rotfl:Its going to be quite a bonfire!

Could he donate his books to a charity shop or sell/pass them on? That seems such a waste:eek:

ETA : just thought you probably mean exercise books :) In which case use the recycle bin - put them to good use on their final journey!

Am off to Ikea shortly to buy a bed and mattress for the spare room. First time in 9 years it'll be used as a bedroom instead of an office/study!

Got rid of a bag full of clothes and shoes yesterday, am still trying to streamline the wardrobe, and have also decided I'm not keeping things "to slim into". If I manage to lose weight, I'm treating myself to gorgeous new things!
Getting OH into the hang of decluttering too - he got rid of two massive boxes of paperwork yesterday.

Can I join in? We're constantly decluttering at the mo - in order to avoid becoming problem hoarders! I saw that programme too, and was sad that they binned so much that could have been sold / recycled.

We did a car boot yesterday (we're doing one every Sunday that isn't raining at the mo) and shifted:
1 - 5 VHS videos (NO-ONE buys videos for months, then 5 go the same day! Like buses!)
2 - DH sold two drums
    3 - 2 mugs
    4- 2 books
5 - cut glass bud vase
6 - teabag pot (well, that's what I used it for, anyway!)
    7 - porta potti (clean!:rotfl:)
    8 - guitar stand
    9 - old Thermos flask
    10 - wooden lamp base
    11 - Ike@ lamp
    12 - 14 old stoneware ink bottles

There are loads of things which are already sorted out into the car boot pile, but if I count them as I sell them it's easier!;)

I've also done a pile of clothes (10) for charity shop, and 5 to ebay although not listed yet. And 30 books for church library! So I'll count 16 car booted yesterday (counting the drums and books individually), 10 for charity shop, and 30 for church - total of 56 so far! I'll count the ebay stuff when it sells.

Have a good day all! :)

  • hi everyone hope you are all having a great bank holiday! i started well in April then ground to a halt:( but am trying again for May, so far i can only count two things but i have sold some shoes on Ebay and have stuff to take to school and a friends but i'm not counting them till they have actually left my house/car! I've got an added incentive as my dad says he'll decorate my bedroom for me - so all i've got to do is empty it!!!
    so
    old curtains - f***cycle
duvet cover and pillow case - f***cycle
    Ditch 100 in May 2/100
keep up the inspiring work everyone!

  • another 40 items to the charity shop - 228/300. I'm having a massive clear out as we're going to put the house on the market later on this year. At lot of it was books - got rid of a lot of books I was keeping to read again, but hadn't read them more than once several years ago.
